Summary: Mind numbingly bad - it must have been the cold.
Review: You can only use that "Look out! Avalanche!" ploy once in a movie. Unfortunately here it is used again and again and again. Usually leaving the one "avalanched against", hanging from an ice axe and blowing hard to indicate fright. Whenever the plot stalled, which was often, there was an explosion and another avalanche. This is a truly dire movie. And don't get me started on Scott Glenn......!!!!!

Summary: "Wages of Fear" on ice
Review: Without any warning (or sense), half way through this film turns into "Wages of Fear" on K2. Instead of six men in three trucks hauling nitro over mountains, we have three teams of mountain climbers hauling nitro up K2 to rescue some trapped climbers. The actual characters are insignicant to the explosions and hair's breath rescues. Martin Campbell, the director, even steals the classic gimic of having one climber in the middle of rolling a cigarette when another team blows up, and the wind from the explosion blows the tobacco away before we even hear it. However, Campbell gets this all messed up because we've already seen the explosion. That about sizes up the film. A series of good action scenes, with little sense linking them together. I can't tell you how many times he repeats the too-many-climbers-dangling-from-one-rope scenario. After the first twenty minutes every scene is predictable. The editting and camera work are top-notch, and it mostly looks pretty authentic, if only there was some logic to it all.

Review: This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. I usually do not like action movies but this movie graps you and keeps you wanting more. I could not leave the room because I was scared I would miss something.

Summary: At least the DVD had good sound...
Review: Pretty generic film. Predictable plot, predictable ending, not a particularly well written film at all - the only thing that kept me going was the fact that the DVD of this film had really good sound - I enjoyed the Dolby 5.1 mix, and the DVD really utilizes every channel well with crisp sound, whether it was the helicopters or falling ice and snow. If you can tolerate the myriad of cliches in the film and want to test your 5.1 setup, check it out. Otherwise skip it.

Summary: + 1/2 A Great Thriller From Beginning To End!
Review: Every once in a while, a movie comes along that can be undoubtubly great, but then gets crushed by the analyzers because of every little nit picky problem. The move is suppose to thrill you. And even though most parts are forseen, it still got my heart pumping when it was all said and done.

I read a review about this movie. "How many people would you kill for YOUR sister?" Well maybe you should ask yourself the same question. In that situation, you really don't care about the well-being of others, you just care about your family who is in danger, and you will do what it takes you secure their lives.

This movie takes something good and makes it great.

The DVD of this movie is loaded with goodies. I was in doubt about getting this movie before renting it, but I did rent it first, and I wished I had of bought it. It truely is a movie that you can watch over again over again.

My advice: Just get it. We watch movies for suspense, not to critique every little problem that you may think they have. Chill out, relax, lay back in the recliner, pop some popcorn, and enjoy every part of this movie you can.

You won't regret it.

Summary: Non Stop Thrills
Review: OK this movie has a lull about a quarter of the way thru but it's just a building the characters thingy but when disaster strikes it is relentless suspense all the rest of the way and where else to find better action than on K2 the most treachorous mountain man can climb. I am an Aussie but was a bit embarressed the way the two Australian brothers in the film were portrayed as total morons and silently wished they would be bumped off early in the piece. The 5.1 surround sound made u feel u were up there battling against a monster too awesome to imagine. Take the ride but hold on and tread carefully!!

Summary: An enjoyable escapist romp.
Review: It's not about logic. It's not about realism. It's about action ... with enough human interest thrown in.

It's not deep or artsy ... it's fun. Go see it.

Summary: dvd extras aren't the selling point
Review: By far this is a much better movie than Cliffhanger. The biggest drawback to this dvd was the extras. The making of was cool, but the titles are very misleading. I thought there were actual real life stories of K2 when it was actually real stories from the cast about certain scenes. That's one heck of a spin. I don't think any actors died in the sound stages during this filming. Still, besides that, it's a great movie to watch and hear on DVD. Turn down the volume though, this one gets loud

Summary: Great Movie
Review: This movie was "The Perfect Storm" in the snow and mountians. The special effects are excellent. It had some sad scenes, and very suspenceful scenes dealing with bottles of nitroglycerin strapped to their packs. I highly reccomend this movie.
