Summary: Wham, Bam, Thank You Van Damme!
Review: The match of the century: Bad Guy Dressed as The Pittsburg Penguin vs. Van Damme- Magical

Summary: This is Hockey!
Review: The Stanley Cup is just about to happen in Pittsburgh, but a homicidal maniac rigs the arena full of explosives. He wants bank accounts to be put under his name or he will assassinate the Vice President. Only one man can stop him from fulfilling his greedy plans and that is the lord Van Damme! "Sudden Death" plays like "Die Hard" and "Under Siege," two tour de forces. Van Damme is a fire investigator who also fights. Of course. Unfortunately for him, he has two children who are snotty brats! Dire. When his daughter is kidnapped by a manly mascot, it's up to Van Damme to save her, the Vice President and the Penguins fans! He fights a mascot in a kitchen, guys all around the arena, diffuses bombs and saves the day. Luckily for him, the game went to sudden death which allowed him more time. Powers Boothe plays the deranged looney and Van Damme teaches him a lesson. Don't waste good food and don't be selfish! The helicopter the demon was in fell through the arena vertically and exploded with a vengeance! Hamanee times does a mortal have to mess with Van Damme? They should know better.

Summary: Typical, stupid action movie
Review: This is 1 of the worst movies I have ever seen! Some of theaction sequences are ok but the plot is such a has been. There are so many good action movies invovling terrorists, but this 1 is a failure! And for Van Dame? ... After seeing this, I never want to see another one of his movies. The villian is so lame & weak. It was really pathedic how bad he was developed. Trust me, DO NOT see this film! There are action movies 50 times bettter!I don't normally keep a worst movie list, but this is one of my worst!

Summary: Fantastic
Review: This is by far Van Dammes best movie. Great action scenes and a sinister performance by Powers Booth. This move kills Die Hard, Speed, and any other movie in the Hostage/Terrorist genre.

Summary: my hometown hockey arena
Review: This is one of my favorite movies and was made in my hometown of Pittsburgh. Jean-Claude Van Damme stars in this action packed thriller about a fire marshall ( Van Damme ) who takes his 2 children to a Stanley Cup hockey game staged at Mellon, then Civic Arena between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Chicago Blackhawks. I have been to this arena many of times and it it fabulous. The oldest arena in the NHL. Anyways, a terrorist ( Powers Booth ) is holding the Vice President and other civilians hostage in the arena owner's box. When Van Damme's daughter is kidnapped by Powers Van Damme makes his way up to the box in a powerful and deadly battle!

Summary: Predictable movie with unmemorable title, of course!
Review: This movie was a total waste of time! The dialogue was weak, the characters were unbelievably false, and, yes, I know, you are supposed to suspend your belief in these type of movies. But how far must you go? There is one real unbelievable scene where this idiot kid of Van Damme's has no common sense and waits at the stadium when everyone else has left, with a BOMB of course, and doesnt leave because he's SCARED! Also, the script must have been thought up on someone's lap on a plane trip, with "realistic" phrases from announcers like "Scratch my back with a hacksaw!" This movie is definitely a crowd pleaser for anyone that has an I.Q. a bit above 25.

Summary: Sudden Death Looks Good Right Now
Review: This was definitely not the best movie I've ever seen. The truth
is that it's bad. So bad that I could hardly watch it. I got this
movie because it involved hockey, and I'm a huge fan. It was not
worth it- maybe, just maybe for action fans. But not for an average
watcher...the action was really cheesy for my taste...and only
a few lines grabbed my interest. I know action movies don't
have to be Oscar worthy...but this was a far cry from anything
cinematic. Don't waste your time.

Summary: great action loaded with special effects
Review: van damme is not a good actor. he never will be. but when he picks movies he knows what kind of action we want. this was his first movie i ever saw because i was never a fan of him. i wanted to see it because i love action movies about hostages and the hockey setting made it even more exciting even though i am not a hockey fan. and since this this i have purchased a few of his other movies which were very good. but i think this is his best one so far. he is a fireman who takes his 2 kids to a hockey game. then a madman led by powers booth takes the owners box hostage with the vice president inside it because he wants money. great action in this movie makes it one of van dammes best. and of course he saves the day at the end. rated r for strong violence and language.

Summary: Sudden Something
Review: When I heard that Peter Hyams had signed on to direct his second Van Damme film (the first being "Timecop"), I breathed a sigh of relief. It actually couldn't be that bad. Truthfully, I came out of the theatres pleasantly surprised.

The real star of this movie is the action, in which Van Damme stays away from his signature spinning kicks, and adopts Bruce Willis's 'John McClane' as his persona. After "Die Hard", no one can claim to be original, so Hyams doesn't bother trying.

Instead, he gives us great character actors (Powers Boothe, one of the best Van Damme villains yet), a fast-paced actioner, a bit of humour, and a totally prepostorous (at that time, anyway) Stanley Cup matchup between Pittsburgh (minus Mario) and Chicago.

One of the best of the Van Damme fare on the market.
