Summary: Not a bad movie, but not great either
Review: Last Man Standing is a remake of a film called Yojimbo, and the classic Leone,Eastwood western A Fistful of Dollars. This time it's set in the 1930's,and Bruce Willis plays the Eastwood character, who plays both sides of two rival gangs-the Doyle gang and the Strozzi gang.David Patrick Kelly plays Doyle, and I don't think he's all that great,he just doesn't seem sinister enough.Christopher Walken is,however, very good as Hickey,Doyle's number one henchman.(although it's hard to understand what he's saying most of the time)Ned Eisenberg plays Strozzi, and is okay,I guess. The woman who plays Doyle's girl(the Marisol part in A Fistful of Dollars)is a major babe. That's all I'll say about the performances. As for the action it was pretty good, but a little over the top.(I thought Bruce's character wasted a lot of bullets by shooting individual people over and over with two guns)Overall, this isn't a bad movie, but it's not nearly as good as A Fistful of Dollars.(but then again Bruce Willis is good, but he's not Clint Eastwood)

Summary: Very good action flick !
Review: Not much of a plot, but a very entertaining film. Bruce Willis and Christopher Walken are both excellent in this gangster (1930's) shoot 'em up movie. A ton of violence, but again, a very good action flick. Plays like a western during the prohibition era.

Review: NOT ONE OF BRUCE'S BETTER FILMS - BUT TRYING TO COPY CLINT EASTWOOD WAS ALWAYS GOING TO BE DIFFICULT. TYPICAL BRUCE WILLIS ACTING. IF YOU ARE A FAN (WHICH I AM) THEN YOU WILL LIKE THE FILM. UNFORTUNATELY I AM A MASSIVE FAN OF THE DOLLARS TRILOGY WHICH THIS IS TRYING TO EMULATE. STILL WORTH WATCHING.

Summary: Good stuff
Review: Okay let me get this clear, I have this wierd obsession of gunfighting, not just gun fighting, but to be more specific dual weapon gunfights. A gun for each hand, to me that is the pinnacle of badass. When I see a action movie I don't care about explosions, attractive women, or stupid car chases. I hate all that garbage American directors throw in thier films. I wanna see gritty no holds gunfighting. I enjoy either a realistic gun battle (Way of the gun, Heat, etc...) or all out unrealistic (The Killer, Hard Boiled, The Matrix, etc...) So combine the gritty dirt quality, with Bruce Willis only fighting with two pistols, and lack of explosions, you can understand why I enjoy this movie. One thing this movie has, that is not used enough in action movies is the depressing voice over, like in the video game Max Payne. That game would make a damn fine movie.

Summary: Awful!
Review: One of the silliest pretexts for a movie, ever! This film has all the substance of an AT&T commercial, and the "story" is nothing more than one establishing shot after another. After about an hour and a half, we get to see Christopher Walken and Bruce Willis eyeball each other and act macho... That's if we haven't fallen asleep or otherwise lost interest by that time.

At this time, you can buy a used VHS edition of this movie for $.49 on amazon, but at less than a half a buck, it's still not worth it...

Summary: Last Man Standing
Review: Set during prohibition, a dangerous drifter (Bruce Willis) passes through a town where two rival gangs are tearing the place up. After riddling bullies with bullets, he finds himself hired by both gangs. In order to get more money, he cleverly works for both gangs. When his cover is blown, he must fight for his life.

This update of Akira Kurasawa's "Yojimbo" and Sergio Leone's "A Fistful Of Dollars" is perhaps the most intense out of all of the films. Packed with hyper-kinetic gunfights, this is a must for any action fanatic. Bruce Dern *who has been in many Walter Hill films) plays an excellent supporting role as the sheriff.

If you like this film, you should also see "The Killer". However, it would be interesting to see both "Yojimbo" and :A Fistful Of Dollars" before you see this.

Overall rating: 5 stars

Rated R for strong stylized violence, language, and sexual encounters with nudity.

Summary: A great action / mob film
Review: Set in the days of prohibition, a lone gunman makes a run to the Mexican border to lay low. Along the way he gets sidetracked into a small nothing of a town with two rival gangs fighting over their share of the rum running pie. So like any good hired gun, he proceeds to get into the local war. Any more than that I will not say of the story as I hate to write spoilers.

Now this movie was never made to win an Oscar. What it was made for was to entertain, and that it does if you like movies set in the time period or lots of gunfights. Oh yes, there is a lot of gunfights and its fair share of bloodshed, along with some good old fashion beatings for those that like the action. Also very authentic looking sets and period costumes also, if you even care about that and like action movies.

Little bonuses I also enjoyed include the fact that the movie is also narrated by Willis, and his standard for comments and sarcasm is a star point of this movie. Then there is the appearance of one of the best 'bad guys' to ever do movies... Christopher Walken. Granted it is a supporting role, but one that uses his psychotic edge nicely.

Basically, don't try to overanalyze this movie, just sit back and enjoy the action.
