Rating: Summary: FROM KEVIN, A LIFE-LONG BAT-FAN: THIS FILM BLOWS. . . . Review: . . and for an innumerable amount of reasons. First off, once Tim Burton left the Bat-franchise, it quickly headed downhill and fast. And thanks to Joel Schumacher's "directing", Batman Forever was non-sensical and corny. But it got even worse when Batman and Robin debuted. No longer dark and brooding, Clooney's Batman is more like a bad stand-up comic in rubber with lots of shiny gadgets. And nipples on the suit?! What's he gonna do, breast feed a plastic doll? If this movie was trying to develop the characters, it should have spent more time on Batman and Robin's relationship as partners. But hey, why do that when you can throw Batgirl into the mix? And while you're at it, add THREE NEW VILLAINS?! But make sure you don't get good actors, just people who can repeat horribly written lines. It's all basically just a rehashed version of Batman Forever with new villains. The film has the same structure, its just even more ridiculous and idiotic. The animated movie "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm" is a better Bat-film than this. Check it out. Hopefully, when the next installment (starring Christian Bale) rolls around, it will wash away the shame and disgrace "Batman and Robin" has heaped upon Bat-fans worldwide. Burn Schumacher at the stake, I say!!
Rating: Summary: Batman is not Forever Review: Batman and Robin was a bad film from start to finish. George Clooney as Batman was a big mistake. Whenever he talked in the film, he did his usual ''bouncy head'' style of acting. In th film while Clooney did this, it was a bit tiresome. Actually Keaton will be the one and only true Batman. Arnold was horrible as MR. FREEZE. His ''ice''jokes throughout the film were a bit annoying. Plus, Arnold was too buff to be Mr.Freeze. Chris O'donnell was okay as Robin, just a bit whiny. Batman and Robin bickered throughout the film as an ''old'' married couple.Uma Thurman and Alicia Silverstone offered nothing to the film, just playing the usual female roles. Joel Schumarcher made Bane a brainless nitwit as opposed to the comics. Michael Gough as Alfred was a blessing, he saved the film. I loved his ''emotional'' scenes with Bruce WAYNE in the film. The film had too many subplots and cheesy special effects. Maybe if Burton would've have stayed with the Batman franchise, the last 2 sequels would've been better.Everyone knows that after Batman Returns it was downhill from there.
Rating: Summary: A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND BUDGET MONEY Review: This movie sucks and is a shame because Batman started out so great and just got worse over time. George Clooney was okay in From Dusk till Dawn, but is dreadful in this movie and every other one he has been in. Robin should have been left out of this fourth Batman film because he is the worst character. It is too bad to because Robin was so cool in the comic books and he should have been the same way in the movies. Batgirl sucked too. Christian Bale will hopefully save the franchise with his portrayal of Batman which will I hope will be a dark, morbid throwback to the Michael Keaton days! Thank you Warner Bros. for my giving me back my DARK KNIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: I HATE JOEL SCHUMACHER Review: The reason I say that is this: he ruined Batman. Tim Burton? Awesome. First of all, the whole idea of "Gotham City" is that it's supposed to be more Gothic. What the hell is with the abnoxious city of neon lights in "Batman Forever" and "Batman and Robin?" Way to ruin a really cool setting, Joel. Second, the writing is terrible. It's not "stylish" or anything, it's just terrible. The last two Batman movies are quite comparable to the original starring Adam West and Burt Ward, and that's just no good. And the people he casts! Batgirl shouldn't have been in it, for one thing, and it sure should NOT have been Alicia Silverstone playing her. George Clooney? He is officially the worst Batman yet. Adam West was better than this guy. At least Adam West was funny to watch. Clooney just sucks, that's all there is to it. This seemed to just be another reason for Schwarzennegger to run off his crappy lines as well: "Chill out." HAHAHAHAHAHA, I get it! He's Mr. Freeze, and he's telling them to chill out! Wow, that was clever! Just kidding, that's way overdone. Joel Schumacher needs to never ever do anything again, because after that, he deserves bankruptcy. Don't buy this.
Rating: Summary: Terrible! Review: This movie is so BAD! It's nonsensical rubbish with Schwarzenegger (who was paid a whopping $26 million for his three weeks of work on this film) fitting in nicely with this offensively bad chapter in the Batman film mythos. His version of Mr. Freeze is utterly laughable...and not in a good way. Mugging his way through lines like "The ice man commeth," Schwarzenegger is arguably he biggest offender this film offers. Talents like George Clooney, Uma Thurman and Alicia Silverstone are completely wasted under the direction of Joel Schumaker. While the sets and costumes are expensive looking, the movie in its entirety comes off as a cheap, boring ripoff of the old TV show that starred Adam West, Burt Ward and Yvonne Craig. This is easily the worst Batman film ever....and that's saying something, because "Batman Forever" is just awful, too.
Rating: Summary: WB EXECUTIVES BREAK THE BATMAN Review: Batman And Robin is one of the worst superhero movies ever made. Commercialism overtakes creativity and the result is an onscreen disaster of a movie that deserves to join film train wrecks past such as Ishtar, Heartbeeps, Heaven's Gate, Hudson Hawk and Plan 9 from Outer Space in the Hollywood hall of shame. This bane of a film broke the Batman franchise and put DC out of the superhero film business. "It" actor of 1997 George Clooney is WB Yes Man Joel Schumacher's tool to play Batman this time. Clooney's portrayal of Batman is stomach churningly bad. He's clearly here for the big paycheck; he doesn't even try to act like Batman or act period. He smiles and jokes his way through the movie with no regard for the character. Clooney is joined by the terrible Chris O' Donnell who reprises his role as Robin. He wears a costume with a big red bird on it. I think that's the symbol of the movie: an Albatross. Alicia Silverstone phones in a performance as Alfred's niece Barbara Wilson and her alter ego Batgirl. Never heard of her? Neither have I since Batgirl in the comics was COMMISSIONER GORDON'S DAUGHTER. Arnold Schwarzenegger on the decline of his career plays the worst role of his career Mr. Freeze. He's so bad here it's not even funny. Uma Thurman does her best with the poison Ivy character, but Akiva Goldsman's campy script keeps her from actualizing her potential with the role. The plot of this film appeals to the short attention span crowd. Batman must contend with Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy who want to take over both Gotham city and then the world. Yes, that's the plot not the synopsis of an episode of the equally banal "Super Friends" cartoon of the 70's or the silly "Batman" TV shows from the 60's. The subplot is convoluted so Silverstone can look pouty and have something to do. It turns out Alfred is dying from McGregor's syndrome and that he may not make it. Recent batvillian Bane makes a forgettable appearance here. The character is nothing like the cunning comic bad guy but I guess he's here to symbolize the breaking of the series. The cartoonish script wants us to turn our brain off and believe things that make absolutely no sense. In Schumacher's continuity, lasers and diamonds power Mr. Freeze's armored suit and freeze gun. Well, Lasers make things hot and when diamonds focus lasers it makes them hotter. So according to this movie, Mr. Freeze WHO NEEDS TO STAY COLD is kept alive by a suit that would actually kill him if he wore it. This laser powered ice suit is complete with a helmet that EXPOSES HIS FACE to the WARM tempratures that PUT HIS LIFE AT RISK. Wouldn't it have made sense for Freeze to use Freon or liquid oxygen to keep himself alive? It's a lot cheaper and a lot easier to steal, but I guess that's too simple to work. And Poison Ivy is supposed to help him in his plan to freeze the city because it corresponds with her plans to cover the earth in plants. Er-Plants die in the cold. And when Batman thaws Robin, wouldn't he have already died from having the temperature in his body change so drastically from being instantly frozen? But those without an attention span and a mental age less than 8 are too busy being distracted by all the pretty visual effects, ooing the stunts and laughing at the one-liners to pay attention to these lapses in logic. And the howlers are here in full effect. Lines like:" Ice to see you", "You're going to put me in the cooler", "Take two of these and call me in the morning", "This is why superman works alone" are unforgettably bad. The film is chock full of moments that will have you scratching your head; in one scene Batman pulls out a credit card. And in another Mr. Freeze flies on a pair of metal butterfly wings. Schumacher's visuals are over the top and have an odd homoerotic undertone to them. What was the reason for all the crotch shots on the men and all the phallic symbols throughout the film? And why was there a huge gold statue of a naked man in the middle of Downtown Gotham? And what was the purpose of the costume change when the city froze over. Wouldn't they just go into action with the costumes and vehicles they already had? I guess the toy companies needed to make a few extra dollars somehow off all the kids going to this movie. I cannot recommend this film for anyone. It is a complete mockery of Batman and one of the worst pieces of fantasy filmmaking ever made. Schumacher lost all credibility with this one and his role of WB yes man almost cost him his career. Too bad the executives who were pulling Schumacher's strings were not held accountable for this debacle. Their continuing creative interference not only ruined the batman franchise but eventually led to the disastrous end of the Matrix series as well. From watching the pattern of creative decline on both of these film series, I believe that it's time that the current WB management is relieved of their jobs so that the artistic vision of filmmakers is not hampered. Perhaps if these meddling executives stay in their offices and out of the studio viewers will finally get some good movies and TV shows.
Rating: Summary: Batman and Robin, A pretty good movie Review: I don't see why all these mindless losers hate this movie so much. This is a fun movie to watch with the most special effects of any Batman movie. Yes, I'll agree that George Clooney is a horrible Batman, and that Alicia Siverstone is a whiny little B@tch, but this movie is a lot of fun and full of action. It is the weakest of the series but still a good movie. I think Arnold did a fine job as Freeze, and Uma Thurman looks really yummy in the movie. The part where Freeze is singing the Mr Snowman song is hilarious. Overall I liked this movie, if you don't like it, don't watch the damn movie, go watch your sissy love movies. The only thing I don't like about this movie was Batgirl, she was just stupid.
Rating: Summary: Life is too short Review: You only have so many hours alloted to you in this life. When you are approaching your end, you might beg the Great Whoever, "Can I just have a little more time, please?" And the resounding answer will be "NO! YOU WASTED TWO HOURS OF PRECIOUS LIFE WATCHING "BATMAN AND ROBIN"!! YOU SHOULD HAVE VALUED YOUR TIME MORE." Holy pathetic crap! This is the clanker of all-time. Schwarzenegger ought to be investigated for accepting this role and for his performance of it, rather than his alleged groping sprees. George Clooney, Alicia Silverstone and Uma Thurman ought to thank fortune that their careers didn't come to a screeching halt just for having stepped in front of the cameras of this mess. Life is too short.
Rating: Summary: Uma saves it from being a total loss Review: This film is a complete waste of time, energy and money. On that note the only saving grace is the uberfab Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy. She really camped it up and had a blast toying with the men. The rest are all but a joke. Clooney is ok, but such a let down from Val Kilmer (who really seemed to get it). Chris O'Donnell is good, but relys too much on whining. Alicia Silverstone is just plain fat and ugly. Hello! Batgirl wears a cowl, not an eye mask! Schwarznegger was PATHETIC! The man is not an actor, he is a personality. The whole film was nothing but cheap one-liners and you can pretty much just skip the last 30 minutes (it is ridiculous). The best scene however is the infamous "gorilla striptease" with Poison Ivy at the ball. That scene literally had me standing in the aisle clapping with glee!
Rating: Summary: Schwarzenegger doesn't make this Movie better... Review: This movie ws the worst part. Normaly if you see "Arnold Schwartzenegger" on the Video Case you think it has to be good, well Schwarzenegger acts the role of Frezzer good, but the rest of the Cast was simply lame....
