Summary: Masters of The Universe
Review: This movie comes out as average, and let me tell you why. The movie first off, doesn't include many of the supporting cast that made the comic book, and cartoon series so great. That alone sets the score down a bit. The characters they DID include, got scaled down costumes, and the story overall while very good, will still leave you wondering why they brought the battle to earth. So basically while good, the movie doesn't stay close enough to it's roots. (The same thing that flawed the last 2 Batman films, Though You will probably like this better Than Batman & Robin.) On a positive note, Frank Langella's Skeletor is the merciless dark being that Alan Oppenhiemer's Cartoon Counterpart could've been had censorship never come into play. Dolph Lundgren is a convincing He man, although Some of the Humanity is missing. I still wish they could have done the Prince Adam/He man thing, but I ain't gonna complain. It's a damn good movie But, they should've done a little more incorporation of the overall He man universe to roughen out the edges, making it fall short of what a perfect comic/cartoon port to movie should be. In any case because of the movie 3 new characters were introduced into the 'toon, and toyline: Saurod, Gwildor, and Blade. Anyone who likes a good fight scene will love Saurod, and Blade. An Average movie for most people. Die hard He- fans and sci fi/fantasy fans will LOVE it. An interesting footnote: Ever thought Van Damne's movie "CYBORG" seemed rushed? It probably was as "CYBORG" was originally MOTU part 2. When the series died off They had to think of something to do with the screenplay. Thus, "CYBORG" was born.

Review: For the life of me, I can't find anything wrong with this show. The acting is ok, the action and special efects are up to Star Wars standards, and it is well cast. Frank Langella is the biggest surprise in this film. He is a critically acclaimed actor, but he gives Skeletor, who could be considered a stupid character by him, a depth and menace that Jame Earl Jones gave to Darth Vader. Favorite part:I Have The Power!

Summary: BY THE POWER OF GREYSKULL!
Review: Cast your mind back to the early-mid eighties when He-man was every child's hero. Birthdays and christmas presents were adorned with action figures, books and various other spin-offs from the cartoon. Afternoons were filled with the excitement of watching, what to me was, the greatest show on earth. School playtimes were passed by battling your He-man with your best friends Skeletor and your dreams were filled of the magical Eternia. But it all had to end, we grew up, new cartoons such as the Ninja Turtles were favored by the new kids, Donatello and leaonardo replaced He-man, Orko and the rest of the Masters of the Univers Crew. And today, he-man is almost forgotten by the majority. But in 1987, Warner gave us something to remeber the great man, with the theatrical release of Masters of the Universe. The film can be enjoyed by (supposed) adults like me, without the scorn of immaturity accusations that would be hailed at you if you were to reclaim your He-man collection from the attic, dust off your figures and start fighting them. Masters of The Universe was a good attempt at bringing to life the cartoon, however it could have been better had it stayed a little closer to the original scipts. Dolph Lundgren is an inspired choice to play He-man and Frank Langella is equally suited in his role as Skeletor. However, with the exception of the Sorceress, Teela, Man of Arms and Evil Lyn, there really are few of the original characters. I was extremely dissapointed when I first saw this, that my personal favourite character, Orko (that little alien Jester thing) wasn't in it. Also He-man doesn't flit between being the normal human prince Adam and then turning into He-man as was the case in the cartoon, remember the immortal phrase "by the power of Greyskull" animated by Adam holding up his sword and then becoming He-man. I also felt that not enough effort was put into Eternia, there is little evidence of the fantastic landscapes and castles that the cartoons and books portrayed Eternia as having. The film, for the majority is set on Earth, after a key which enables time and location travel is stolen by Skeletor. A battle ensues on Earth between He-man and Skeletor and is then continued back in Skeletors lare in Eternia, where Skeletor is holding the sorceress prisoner. It is up to He-man to defeat Skeletor, the Lord of Destruction and save the sorceress. The film may not have an Oscar winning script, but the actors do a good job (look out for Courtney Cox in an earley role). The plot is simple, but this is what you would expect and even want from such a film, after all it is based on a childrens cartoon. The movie is, despite the few minor criticisms that I made, extremely enjoyable, all eighties kids will enjoy this nostalgic trip. To me this movie will remain as one of my fondest in my video collection...the last testament to my childhood.

Summary: What a Great Movie
Review: All the critics can say whatever they want but I think that this movie was one of the best movies of the 80's. Sure, it didn't have the best acting in the world, but it was one of those movies that is just for fun. He-Man is such a great hero, and Skelator is an awesome villian. Even if you weren't a fan of the cartoon show(which I was) you will still love this fun, exciting, and overall great movie!

Summary: Fun Entertaining Film.
Review: To me, it was, one of the most entertaining film in the eighties. Also to me, this film it`s Conan The Barbarain meets Star Wars. It`s Haves sword fighting and gun lazers. Good Cast in this movie, including-Dolph Lundgren, Frank Langella as Skeletor, Meg Foster, Billy Barty, Friends Star-Courteney Cox, James Tolkan and Chelsea Field. Excellent Production Designs and Visual Effects, Just watch it for the fun. Grade:B+.

Summary: Frank Langella Makes This Movie
Review: Certainly, parts of this movie were lacking: too much of the action was just shoot-em-up; He-Man's dialogue was weak, but kept mercifully sparse; and that Karg character should have been put out of his visual misery instead of the reptilian mercinary (Saurod, was it?). BUT... Frank Langella has given a performance which makes Skeletor, in my opinion, one of the best movie villians ever (right up there with Jack Nicholson's Joker, Darth Vader, and General Kaal from Willow). He made lines which from a run-of-the-mill actor could have been cheesy really resonate ("Then let this be our final battle!"). Plus, the skull make-up was pulled off very nicely. Oh, did anyone else notice that the Sorceress's line toward the end -- about evil men looking back over the mistakes of their lives and calling it destiny -- was just a really good line for this type of movie? Anyway...

Review: This is a wonderful movie. It has action, adventure, Si-Fi, Romance, homour and so much more. Dolph Lundgren is wonderful. As some people point out this is no Star Wars so if you know that movie and like it DON`T compare them with one another. They are both good in their own ways.

Summary: Fantasy violence at its best
Review: We all know that He-Man is going to save the universe (earth first, of course!), rescue various fairly modestly-clad females, vanquish evil wherever it may be found, and never suggest he has thought of a romantic interest for himself. That's what He-Man DOES, as all little boys growing up in the eighties knew. In this version, he does it with Dolph Lundgren's very nearly perfect body (and quaint accent), an appealing battle-scarred older warrior, and some pretty good visual and audio effects--including the costumes a previous reviewer castigated. I like shiny black plastic, leather, and capes blowing in the wind, myself! This is exactly the sort of wholesome, entertaining video a harried mom can use to amuse kiddos (He-Man is a splendid example to give young boys: "He-Man NEVER hits his sister!"), or to keep herself occupied while she wraps a thousand Christmas presents. If you liked the A-team on television, or Suburban Commando, Rambo, Iron Eagle, the Karate Kid, or The Never-Ending Story, you'll want this one in your "rainy days and boring tasks" library.

Review: This movie wants to be Star Wars so bad it can taste it. Note the shiny plastic uniforms, the villain in black, the whole I HAVE THE POWER shriek thing. And my gawd, that girl in grey needs a new costume, she looks so uncomfortable, I pity her. I am not a He-man fan so as a mere movie buff, I must say, I think this movie deserves the MST3K treatment SO bad
