Summary: I'll Be Back.....
Review: Not a great movie, but big time fun. I'm rating the movie not the DVD version. I love this movie because my son LOVED it when he was 5 and I had to watch it 500 times and yet it was one of his tapes I could always watch & enjoy.Dolph a big stiff when it comes to acting but acting wasn't as important as muscle for this role and he had plenty of that. Action packed & Frank Langella was great as Skelator(I used to have to watch the end tag ..I'll be back....) over & over again. My son would cry, "Play it again ,Daddy" & I'd rewind & play it one more time. I can't help be smile when its on. I will be buying the DVD when it comes out. Courtney Cox is in it (young Courtney) & Billy Barty is great as Gwildor. Some great henchman made for the movie, not the cartoon guys ,but cool anyway. Oh yeah Meg with the great eyes ( I forget her last name ,she was the org. Cagney on Cagney & Lacey )terriffic as Evil-Lyn( "The little worm has another key !!") Spotty review , I know but I'm doing this on memory alone. Its a great movie to watch with your kids. Turn 'em on to He-Man. Start another tradition.

Summary: One of Dolphs best films
Review: This film could have been soo much better!Dolph and Langella were perfectly cast,as were Jon Cypher,Anthony De Longis and James Tolkin! The music is excellent and the acting isn't too shabby, even if Dolph has some problems with English!Where this film goes wrong is to bring the action to Earth, that was a bad move! This isn't the he-man everyone remembers,no furry pants,no ram-man or battle cat. What you do get however is some good performances,in particular,Dolph shines as He-man!Pretty good effects, pleanty of fights, swords, explosions, and a few close up's of Teela's bum, very nice! This film does however feel like elements have been "borrowed" from star wars and conan, but it is entertaining, even though it didn't live up to expectations!

Summary: Masters of the Universe Live Action Movie
Review: Considering the time it was made, it's really not a bad movie. I enjoyed it very much and even bought the VHS tape a few years back. I plan to get the DVD in October. While it wasn't completely on track with the cartoon, it has it's own worth-while value that makes it unique and definitely worth owning.

Summary: Get them you Fools!
Review: I love Masters of the Universe! This movie was not the greatest representation of my beloved 80's cartoon, but it is definately worth watching for the regular MOTU fan...if you get a chance watch this one!

Summary: A Great cartoon turned into a horrible film
Review: He-man And The Masters Of The Universe, the cartoon that spawned this film, was so much better than this movie. For all of the people who are thinking about buying this movie because it was good when you were young I have a piece of advice: Don't buy this because you remember it being good 14 years ago. Father time has sweetened your memory of this wretched film, I assure you. If you want a good He-man movie, I suggest you save the 15.00 dollars you were going to spend on this DVD and spend it on a used copy of Secret Of The Sword, the animated He-man and She-ra film from 1985.

Summary: This would have been a great movie, but...
Review: This is one movie that had all the right ingrediants to be a fantastic movie. Hollywood could not have picked better characters to play these parts. Dolph Lundgren as He-Man, and Frank Langella as Skeletor were the perfect choices. If the whole movie had stayed on Eternia, this movie might have been a keeper. Unfortunately, the whole cast decided to come to Earth, and that was the biggest mistake of the movie! Earthlings just don't mix with other guys from other worlds, and it certainly shows in the mix. I think this should be a lesson to Hollywood- if you are going to make a movie about cartoon characters, watch what makes the cartoon work in the first place, then make the movie!

Summary: Great cartoon turned into a great movie!!!!
Review: Putting a name like Masters of the Universe as a title makes you a winner already, and then further more to put Dolph Lundgren in it as Heman, well you have yourself a winner. Lundgren looked and acted the part as many of us fanatics out there pictured him as, well the image anyways. Any fan of the cartoon will like this movie for the fact that one of their childhood heroes is brought to life with a story line that follows the cartoon very well. So if you are a fan of the cartoon check this movie out for your own sake otherwise you might miss out......

Summary: Time for a Special Edition Director's Cut!
Review: Just like the Star Wars Special Editions, Masters of the Universe really deserves to be re-done, with new scenes, sounds and new CGI stuff. Provided this stuff was shot in the first place, the sword-fighting scenes could be extended, we could get more character development from Man-At-Arms, Teela, Evil Lyn and the mercenaries, He-Man's final fight with Blade could be extended (enough to be a proper fight), more about the history of the Eternia war (we could actually see some of it!) and the conflict between He-Man and Skeletor. Man, there's SO MUCH that could be added!

And best of all, characters like Trap Jaw and Mer-Man could be put in via CGI. True, it would be messing with the director's original vision....unless he directed the new stuff himself, of course.....intriguing.....

Summary: He had the power in the cartoon, but what about the movie?
Review: I have always enjoyed this movie since it first burst onto screens in 1987. I thought Dolph Lundgren was perfect as He-Man and Frank Langella was perfect as Skeletor and until I read somewhere about little annoyances I thought to myself, this film was perfect. Many people tend to point out that the film is nothing like the cartoons which dominated the early 80s - where was He-Man's faithful tiger - Battle Cat and what happened to Skeletors army of baddies such as Tri-Klops, Trap Jaw and so on.

You CAN look at the film this way and make comparisons or, like so many others just sit back and enjoy a blast from the past. Lundgren and Langella aren't the only ones to take the credit - the late Billy Barty fits into the role of Gwildor superbly as does Meg Foster as Evil Lyn. The only annoying thing about this film is at the very end when Skeletor's head pops up and he says ' I'll be back' - unfortunately he never was..

This has to be one for your collection!

Summary: Cheesy, weird, and one of my all time favorites!
Review: (...) If you are a He-Man fan, or was as a kid, you MUST get this movie. Dolph Lundgren was a pretty good choice for He-Man, and Frank Langella as Skeletor couldn't have been better. The story begins when the evil Skeletor and his army on Snake Mountain defeat the army of Castle Grayskull, capturing the sorceress and taking POW's. The realm of Eternia now belongs to Skeletor! However, that is not enough. An odd little Dwarf named Gwildor has a powerful device called 'The Key' which is capable of inter-dimensional travel. When Skeletor vows to capture He-Man, Gwildor is sought out by Eternia's greatest heroes. He-Man, Duncan 'Man-at-Arms', and his daughter Teela go to Gwildor, who activates the key.

Enter: Earth. With He-Man and his friends now on Earth, they enlist the help of a young girl(Courteney Cox) who lost her parents in a plane crash, who along with her boyfriend get into their own fair share of trouble with the forces of evil. But when skeletor becomes fed up with his warrior's failure to capture He-man,he invades, and all heck breaks loose, with a climactic battle scene in Skeletor's throne room!

Ok...if it sounds cheesy, well....it is! But thats why it is such a great movie. It is funny, but at the same time very entertaining to watch. With recognizable bad-guys, whose costumes were recreated with incredible detail, and some rather good special effects, He-Man fans will probably enjoy it, even though it is quite different from the He-Man: And The Masters of the Universe storyline, as I mentioned earlier.

Rip-offs of other movies become noticeable right away. You will see Star Wars similarities more often than anything else, and some Back to the Future similarities too. The ending is right out of Star Wars also, but nevertheless, is to be expected. Some of the lines are very memorable. As a movie that I loved as a kid, and now enjoy laughing about as an adult, my friends and I took great joy in picking some of the finer lines out of the movie. 'The sword of Greyskull....MINE!' says Skeletor at one point. And I don't care who you are, how old you are, whether you like the movie or not, but when He-Man holds up his sword and shouts 'I HAVE THE POWER!' you will jump out of your seat and cheer! The Soundtrack is suprisingly good and fits the movie quite well.

All in all: A bad movie, but a bad movie that I grew up with and still love to this day. I give it 4 stars because it is one of my favorite movies, not because it is particularly good. If you want to see a cheesy action movie so you can laugh and have a good time, then get it! If you were a He-man fan as a kid and want it for sentimental value, then get it! Now that this 'classic' is on DVD, you can own it forever!
