Rating: Summary: The acting saves this film... Review: After seeing the vastly superior "Training Day," I'd decided to give this movie a shot, me being a fan of Tupac's work and all. "Gang Related" is a movie about two corrupt undercover cops who, somewhere along the lines, decide to start killing drug dealers. Unbeknownst to them, they kill another undercover cop one night, and that's when things spin madly out of control. The two detectives search the streets, desperately trying to find someone to put the wrap on. When it seems all hope is lost, they finally encounter "Joe," a homeless drunk who wouldn't know his [rear]from the hole in the ground. A trial ensues, and slowly, the two cops start to spiral towards a paranoid insanity."Gang Related" is lively directed by Jim Kouf, and Tupac and Jim Belushi are pretty good (yes, I liked Jim Belushi in this movie), but there's only one thing missing: story structure. The script provides some good dialogue, but the story never seems to know where it wants to go. Is it a predictable movie? No. But sometimes things just appear to happen for no reason. One of the things I liked about "Gang Related" was that Tupac was the moral bad cop, whereas Jim Belushi just wanted to kill people at the drop of a hat to save his own hide. If this film had been made by some other studio, Tupac would have probably been the badass and Belushi would have wound up the "nice" cop. Some would call that miscasting on Tupac's part, since he played such a good psycho/thug in "Juice," "Above the Rim" and "Bullet," but believe me. It works. Like I said, the movie is too confusing, and even slick direction and fine acting can't save a movie when it's already doomed for failure. The DVD includes a theatrical trailer and a documentary which claims to be about Tupac, when it's really just a making-of featurette. I suggest buying it since it's part of the history of Tupac's life (this was his last screen performance before he was killed). Just don't expect much from it. For an better corrupt cop movie, check out the aforementioned "Training Day."
Rating: Summary: Sleeper Hit Of Last Year. Review: Aight, first let's look at the fact of the cover art, not very exciting, and there wassn't much of any publicitiy for this film either, unlike pulp fiction, or something of that nature, now in my humble opinion, tupac's an amazing actor,I loved gridlock'd , above the rim, juice, bullet. every role he's played, are good, he isn't the best actor in hollywood though, and give james belushi some props, he did an excellent job, and they had excellent chemistry together, until, "Decieving" came into play , this movie, itself, was pure genius, I loved every second of it, tupac makes the movie, entertaining, and dark, and gritty, much like gridlock'd,and belushi, well belushi, will always be a favorite of mine, we'll always miss his brother, so rest in peace, tupac shakur, you are missed, more so then you know, and for you jim belushi, well at least heaven has a great actor, and a great entertainer (Tupac) - Increase the peace. * from Boy'z In the hood* - an incredible, urban film, a masterpiece, and again in my humble opinion, cuba gooding jr's ,most powerfull, personal, intense role, and lets not forget ice cube, thanks for reading my review, I hope it helped you choose this excellent movie, Five Stars. - also, "please" any tupac fans, or just, movie connoisseurs, like myself, "EMAIL ME" From The Church Of The Saint, Michael "The Saint" Vincent.
Rating: Summary: Lyricalintizimist Review Review: Anyone with love for Tupac Amaru Shakurs' work can appreciate this movie. To those pac fans.Don't forget the soundtrack.
Rating: Summary: AN EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE BY TUPAC Review: BECAUSE TUPAC SHAKUR IS TOTALLY GORGOUS I DECIDED TO RENT THIS FILM, I WAS OVERWHELMED WITH THE QUALITY OF HIS ACTING SKILLS. I AM NOW ON THE LOOKOUT FOR MORE TITLES FEATURING THE ONE AND ONLY TUPAC SHAKUR.
Rating: Summary: The Best crime thriller since LA Confidential. Review: Billiant. Tha's all I have to say
Rating: Summary: Tupac Shakur's last film role. Review: Buy this film based on the fact that this was Tupac's last film role. Shakur and Jim Belushi have some great scenes together. Unfortunately, the film turns incredibly stupid after the first hour. It seems like two different individuals wrote this film. First hour is first rate crime drama. Second hour is made for tv garbage. Also, movie has a few 2pac songs featured prominently.
