Rating: Summary: Simply amazing Review: There are no other words than simply amazing. I kinda took a limb when I first saw it, but it ended up being one of the best movies of 2002. Solid plot, characters and an ending that is out of this world. I can't believe that people would actually bash this movie. Don't listen to them. You will love this movie from beginning to end. Trust me.
Rating: Summary: I Thought It Was A Comedy! Review: This film was terrible. Leguizamo as a South Bronx drug dealer. I was kinda shocked that as a member of the audience I was expected to take this movie seriously. how can a drug dealer get bamboozled out of nearly million dollars by some preppy, wetnosed, somewhat inexperienced wallstreet broker and his girlfriend? And the ending? Oh that wasn't expected. I guess you shouldn't tick off the slightly overweight Columbiana by not payin' her. She's liable to send her psychotic brother after you.
Rating: Summary: Bad movies are better than this one Review: This movie is so bad that I'm not even goign to say HOW bad it is. Suffice to say, John Leiguzamo is rapidly goign the way of Cuba Gooding Jr., making really, really, really bad movies for cash. Talented people in movies so bad, Sharon Stone passed. The plot has such a simplistic point that it's a wonder it go made. Is the dumbing down of movies going dumber and dumber to now capture the young rap lovers? Yes, yes it is. This movie is so bad that I was surprised someone didn't say Leiguzamop's name aloud to pander further to the audience as if we couldn't read. Oh and he dies in the end on the run in such an obvious place---he runs from the Latin mob to Puerto Rico--------that I was upset at first when I saw he was still alive. And when you're gratified that the lead character dies, you're in a REALLY bad movie.
Rating: Summary: very disappointing Review: This movie is very disappointing, it almost sucked. John's acting is the only thing that made this movie interesting, the whole LONG build up to this big deal doesn't pan out & the ending is a cop-out, don't waste your time. There are better things to do with 2 hours of your life.
Rating: Summary: Dig beneath the surface Review: This movie shed a totally new light on what is sometimes a overdone storyline. It follows John Leguizamo as a drug dealer who is trying to survive in a world full of influences that are trying to keep him down. It shows the real and human side of the streets. As was stated by other reviewers the entire cast gave very believable performances. I would definitely chalk this movie up as one of the sleepers of the year.

Rating: Summary: this movie is in a class all by itself Review: To be honest, I didn't really think much of this movie until I saw a little bit of the movie 'Hook'd Up' that stars Malik Yoba because the girl 'Veronica' he dates caught my attention and then I went on-line later on in the day to find out that her name was Delilah Cotto and found out she was in this movie with a very key role and I decided that I was going to buy this movie. I watched it 3 days after I bought it and man, it is a very well-done motion picture. This is John Leguizamo's best movie by far. His character 'Victor Rosa' is a combination of 'Tony Montana' from 'Scarface' and 'George Jung' from 'Blow' because he's ruthless yet compassionate. Peter Sarsgaard did a great job as the rotten wall street banker, Denise Richards was actually a relevant character for once, Vincent Laresca, who played 2pac's rival 'Radames' in 'Juice', was a great fit for the role 'Jimmy' because he pretty much brings back the attitude in this movie that he had in 'Juice', Fat Joe, despite his short role, played his part real well as a rival of Victor's, and how can I forget about Treach, who is one of the best rappers ever. If the drab Oscars over-hauled their image, then this movie would get lots of Academy Awards and Treach would win the best supporting actor award for his role 'Chedda'. He's volatile and street smart and Treach was the right pick for the character because's he intense and his acting is much better than half the Hollywood pretty boys who get political star treatment such as Tom Cruise and Leonardo DiCapprio. And I save the best character for last, which is 'Carmen' who is played by Delilah Cotto obviously. She is nothing like 'Elvira' from 'Scarface' or 'Mirtha' from Blow because their drug addicts who impair their brains where as Carmen wants to make a great living for herself and is pregnant with Victor's baby and she's smart enough to realize that drinking alcohol, smoking, or doing drugs will affect the pregnancy. She is also very beautiful, sweet, and compassionate. Delilah Cotto was the perfect fit for this part. This movie fires on all cylinders and the conflicts that abound for Victor are what make the movie. I don't care what the haters and critics say about this movie. They can't brain wash us fans of this great piece of work into watching corporate trash like 'A View From The Top' and 'The Hours'. Obviously the people who hate on this movie don't have a good eye for talent because this movie has a great collection of it. Any fans of Leguizamo, Cotto, Treach, Richards, or Fat Joe will love this movie. Trust me you'll love it. It's an undisputed champ like Ali.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Cliched Review: Watchable but not so good at all. Small time drug dealers and cliched scam, killings, drug dealer fell for a better girl and made her pregnant, then all the money were conned by another scumbag,then... Cliched, cliched and cliched. Small peopoe thought they are big if they held big guns. Cliched, cliched and cliched. Do we have to shoot this kind of movies again and again? Drug dealers focused on white men, black men, latinos--cubanos or mexicano or columbians...and think about the "French Connection", well, it's a French drug dealer! How about that? I don't want to repeat this to bore myself and you to death.
Rating: Summary: You judge a man by what he respects Review: You judge a man by what he respects or disrespects. John Leguizamo, who would be otherwise marked as a brilliant talent has chosen to denigrate the best and brightest.
