Summary: Not bad for a first Bruce Lee's movie
Review: Please, keep in mind that this was the first Bruce Lee's movie. The film was obviously under funded. Don't expect the story to be original, smart or unpredictable. There is nothing great about this movie except of Bruce Lee himself. And it is certainly worth watching. The story is slow and primitive, but the fight is great. You will see many good fights with knifes there. I bought the latest (2001) DVD version. The picture and sound quality were just fine. I have no complains. My overall recommendation: rent this movie instead of buying it.

Summary: Bruce Lee's first starring role
Review: The movie is pretty cheesy. I was hoping for a little more fighting scenes given the fact Lee is in it. The fighting that does occur isn't coreographed all that great.
Since this is Lee's first movie with him as the main character I should cut it some slack, but I'm not.
For the casual Bruce Lee fan I'd say this movie can be skipped.

Summary: Unwatchable dvd transfer from VHS tape
Review: This dvd is terrible quality, it has lots of terrible analog flaws, like the vhs tape that it was copied from kept losing tracking wiping out the main fight scenes, and the whole movie is squashed horizontally, and distorted. The color is way off like the vhs tape was rented for years before being copied onto the dvd. It is unwatchable! Do not buy this dvd or any dvd from this Candian company.

Summary: Confused?
Review: This film (Fists of Fury), originally released in 1971, should not be confused with the 1972 release "Fist of Fury", now known as "The Chinese Connection".

Known names for Fists of Fury are:

· Tang shan da xiong (1971) .... Cheng Chao-an
... aka Big Boss, The (1971)
... aka Fists of Fury (1971)

Whereas the (much superior) 1972 film is known as:

· Jing wu men (1972) .... Chen Zhen
... aka Chinese Connection, The (1972)
... aka Fist of Fury (1972)
... aka Iron Hand, The (1972)

If you're a hard-core Bruce Lee fan, you'll buy this release anyway. Otherwise, shop for "The Chinese Connection" instead.

If you're new to Bruce Lee, I suggest you start with "Enter The Dragon", followed by "The Chinese Connection" and take things from there.

Summary: Classic or not
Review: This film is often debated on whether or not it is a classic. In my opinion it is okay as it was a starting place for Bruce Lee, the greatest action star ever. At times it is cheap looking and its a shame Bruce does not fight until the middle of the film, but the end fight is great the movies twist ending and message are fantastic. And by the way Fist Of Legend is a remake of The Chinese Conection not this film. As this film is the Big Boss over this side of the world and The Chinese Conection is called Fist of Fury.

Summary: SIMPLY THE BEST BRUCE LEE MOVIE OUT THERE!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: This is Bruce in his prime, before he was "westernized". This is a must-have for any fan of Bruce Lee.

Summary: Cool Kung Fu ... !
Review: This is Lee's first and best film. Though Bruce does not direct the fight scenes like he does in the other films, the martial arts battles are realistic and don't contain impossible jumps and superhuman 'flying' that is often seen in martial arts movies.

The film does a great job of mixing furious fights and successful comedy. The plot revolves around the fact that a champion martial artist (Bruce Lee) has made a promise to his mother that he would stop fighting and causing trouble. To remind him of this agreement, Lee wears a pendant around his neck. He refuses to fight when a gang lead by the notorious criminal 'The Big Boss' starts bullying his co-workers at his ice factory. The film changes when the pendant comes off accidentally. It is then that the fighting starts...

The highlight of the movie is the battle in which Lee takes on the Big Boss. The fight sequence lasts a dramatic ten minutes on screen and takes place in an open courtyard. In addition to battling gansters, Bruce has to take on the three alsations which are strictly loyal to the Big Boss.

This movie is a worthy memorial to the martial arts master, and is worth watching if you like either Bruce Lee or martial arts in general.

Summary: This DVD is horrible
Review: This is not the Columbia DVD. That one is wonderful. This DVD looks like a very old VHS tape, one that was kept in the sun for years. Its that bad. If you want Fist of Fury, pay a little more for the Columbia version.

Summary: A solid performance from Bruce
Review: This is one of Bruce's early movies and it is not as famous or as hyped as Enter The Dragon. However Bruce shines with a good performance - showing his potential for later years.

Bruce does not fight for a lot of the film as he has taken a vow not to. However he gets a job at a factory and discovers drug smuggling in ice. Add that to the fact that Bruce's cousins are being killed and you have one angry Bruce.

So the second half of the film is filled with fight scences as Bruce destroys the bad drug dealers and their leader. This film is definatly worth buying for any Bruce Lee fan and it was the film which turned him into a sensation.A very good film however the ending may suprise.
