Rating: Summary: Arnold is back! Review: When I saw 'End of Days', I thought Schwarzenegger's days were over. Then he proved me partly wrong in 'The Sixth Day' which was a better film than the previous one. And now Arnold makes a solid comeback in 'Collateral Damage', doing what he does best. This is a typical Schwarzenegger film, filled with mind-blowing action sequences. Arnold plays firefighter 'Gordy' Gordon whose wife and kid are killed in a terrorist bombing. As is always the case in his films, the government machinery takes its own sweet time to try to catch the Columbian terrorist and Arnold, in spite of warnings from everyone, decides to go after the terrorist on his own. Arnold does get the terrorist in the end, but there is a surprising twist that makes the climax very worthwhile. Schwarzenegger plays the role of a firefighter with consummate ease, starting from the daring rescue mission in the first scene, right down to the action-packed last scene. Surprisingly, he even shows good acting skills in some scenes. The action is tailor-made for Arnold, whose age does not seem to have hindered him in being at his physical best. Overall, Schwarzenegger delivers in 'Collateral Damage'!

Rating: Summary: Good action flick! Review: I have enjoyed all of Arnold Schwarzenegger's movies and this one certainly didn't disappoint me. He plays a big city fireman with a wife and young son. Within the first few minutes of the movie, his wife and son are killed by a bomb in a busy area. His initial shock at this act by Columbian terrorists turns to rage and a quest for revenge. He tracks the terrorists to Columbia. Plenty of action follows but you'll enjoy the movie more if you don't know about the plot twists ahead of time. No comedy or romance in this movie. But, if action movies are your thing you will probably enjoy this movie.

Rating: Summary: Collateral Damage will keep you on the edge of your seat! Review: Review: Arnold Schwarzenegger superbly portrays a LA firefighter, Gordon Brewer, who has a wife and a young boy. But when terrorists bomb a bank and Brewer's wife and son are killed, his only mission is pure vengeance. The supposed terrorist, "The Wolf", is a mastermind set on continuing to bomb the US until they pull their forces out of Columbia. Brewer is strongly suggested to stay put, and to let the authorities handle the situation, but he is determined to settle retribution with the man that destroyed his family. When Brewer does find a way to Columbia and ways to get around enemy forces, it's a adventure ride of roaring proportions. With several plot twists to keep the audience alert and guessing, Collateral Damage will keep breathless and on the edge of their seat. Pros: 1. Schwarzenegger doing what he does best -- action. 2. The suspense is well driven and very smart. 3. An outstanding plot correlates to the 9/11 attacks, thus lets the audience flow with the emotional stance. 4. Elite special effects add to the movie's exciting plot. Cons: 1. Female actresses were weak and could have been stronger. 2. Character development could have been greater with the Brewer family before it was torn apart. Overall: With one of Hollywood's best actors -- Schwarzenegger playing the lead role, spectacular special effects and, a suspenseful plot that will keep one guessing till the end, what more could a moviegoer ask for?
Rating: Summary: Ho Hum Arnold Review: boy, arnold schwarzenegger's film career is hitting the skids. this is the 3rd film in a row with arnold that isn't good. END OF DAYS, THE 6TH DAY & now COLLATERAL DAMAGE. arnold is arnold here and them wrinkles are showing. he is stuck in a tiresome actioner directed by andrew davis. davis' career is also in the skids. he hasn't made a good film since THE FUGITIVE in 1993: STEAL BIG, STEAL LITTLE, CHAIN REACTION, A PERFECT MURDER & now this. there are moments in COLLATERAL DAMAGE that i did not believe like arnold escaping terrorists in the colombian jungles by sloshing down waterfalls. look closely, that's a computer image of arnold going down the river! kinda spoofs his 1987 PREDATOR where he too went down a waterfall. i did like the torture scene where a terrorist named the wolf shoves a poisonous snake down the throat of 1 of his men who didn't do a good job. never saw that before. other than that, it's just arnie escaping 1 huge fireball after another, beating up baddies in the "chungle" as arnie would say instead of "jungle", i got bored here; arnie is the L.A. fireman who looks as if he got trained by chuck norris' DELTA FORCE. the climax has the wolf about to blow up a d.c. security complex that has those long tunnels enough for him to zoom thru with his motorcycle. arnold needs a hit fast. let's hope for TERMINATOR 3 in 2003.
Rating: Summary: Action, Suspense, and Surprises. Review: This movie is awesome. I honestly wasn't expecting much from it but it blew me away. Great flick!
Rating: Summary: Formula Film Review: This is a formula action adventure film, and it's getting to be boring. No surprises here, it's just recycled Arnold.
Rating: Summary: "Collateral Damage" is damaged goods Review: After hearing critics and fans alike suggest that a poor showing by Arnold in his next film could easily seal the fate of his career, I was expecting a lot more from his latest effort, "Collateral Damage." Following the lackluster box office draws that were "End of Days," and "The Sixth Day," it seemed like the logical route for Arnold to take would be to reprise the tough guy, one man army role, that made him so popular in everything from "Commando," to "Terminator." At first glance, "Collateral Damage," appeared to be just that sort of film. It begins on a good note, with a tidy introduction to Arnold's character, Gordon Brewer, and his career, home, wife, and son. Some mediocre special effects follow, casting the viewer headlong into nearly two more painful hours of cliche storyline that fails to deliver the punch that the previews promised. Arnold is cast in a role that someone of his stature, presence, and tough guy reputation is just not necessary or believable in. Some films, like "Predator," or "Conan," are hard to imagine without Arnold. This film, however, would have been much improved had an actor like Bruce Willis or Nic Cage filled the lead billet. The reasoning behind this is that this role calls for a sensitive everyman, someone who looks like they would be vulnerable to pain, physical and emotional. We've seen Willis do just that in "Die Hard," and Cage has nailed it in films such as "8mm," and "Raising Arizona." Unfortunately, all of Schwartzenneger's past attempts to play Joe Average have failed miserably, and this one follows suit. Moviegoers have made it obvious that they don't want to see a weak Arnold, a vulnerable Arnold, an Arnold with tear rimmed eyes that trades blow after tedious blow with opponents until he narrowly ekes out a victory. They want the crushing Arnold of yester-year who single handedly annihilates scores of armed men with his bare hands. This Arnold for the millenium... this candy coated, mothers of America approved version...left me wholly unfulfilled.
Rating: Summary: He is Back... Review: I was able to see this movie at an advanced screening and i have to say that i was impressed and as were the 300 other people in the theater. This is Arnold at his best in a LONG time. With tons of action and enough humor to not make it depressing and not stupid at the same time. This movie gives me a new hope that I didnt have before in Arnold's ability to make the the upcomming T3 and True Lies 2. Dont pay attention to the review written by Arnold Strong...he seems to have missed something. That something is that this movie was made long before 9-11 and to compare issues surrounding terrorism that that tragedy raised and this movie is not the thing to do. This movie is nothing more than an adventure movie with a terrorism theme as the background for the plot, plain and simple. The movie is ment for entertainment...pre 9-11 and post 9-11...it is not ment to send a message of any kind. But to end on a good note it is a fun movie and a good time. I say if you like Arnold movies and are up for a good combo of Predator and Terminator, you'll have a fun time with this one. Take care and enjoy.
