Summary: End of Arnold?
Review: Before I am bashed, smashed, and turned into a source of hatred for my review, I would like to say that I have seen a great number of Arnold Schwarzenegger films, and they were way better than this. I also have a few nice things to say about it, too. The performances are not bad, and the special effects are good. Also, it includes the absence of a particular aspect in special effects films that is very annoying: the unfunny comic relief. I remember how much "The Mummy" tried to be funny, and I also remember how little I found myself laughing. The main problem: the screenplay. The characters were undeveloped, the protagonists and antagonists were uninteresting, and the movie was not exciting. It was...boring. Also, the idea of Arnold vs. Satan was well mounted and built up to what was supposed to be an incredible climax. Guess what, it never came. I left the theater, totally unsatisfied and unhappy. I was even more depressed by seeing what may be the end of Arnold Schwarzenegger's film career. The effects and action sequences did nothing to brighten my mood.

Summary: End Of Days
Review: Get ready to laugh people. This has got to be one of the most ludicrous movies of 1999. It's supposed to be a fast paced action/drama but it's much more of a comedy. It wasn't all bad. I gave it 3 stars only because Gabriel Byrne is in it, and is excellent, as usual. He managed to rise above the bad material and make Satan seem downright sexy. I really don't think I'd mind being his bride. As for the woman who plays his intended bride, the only thing she gets to do the whole movie is look terrified and get dragged behind Arnold. Don't get me wrong, I plan to buy it when it comes out, if for no other reason than to pop it in my VCR any time I get depressed and laugh for a good hour or so.

Summary: Arnie ..He treats a potetially delecate subject perfectley
Review: He may have been away..but has certainly come back with a block buster of a film.Bigger and better than anything he has done to date, if it wasn't for the ending ! I could see Arnie and Gabriel Byrne doing a Leathal Weapon but even better

Summary: AWSOME!
Review: End Of Days is and extremly excellent film. Arnold Schwarzenengger is great. And so is Gabriel Burne as the devil. The story centers around the last few days of the millenium in New York City. The devil has selected a certain wife and has come to NYC three days before 2000 to take over the world at the beginning of the new millienum. Arnold plays an cop who is trying to stop the devil. This movie blew me away! I can't beleive how they turnes L.A. to NYC in winter! Some shots were obniously from NYC but I think the streets of NYC were shot in L.A. A very good movie. I cannot wait to buy it on DVD!

Summary: GREAT NOVELIZATION OF A LOUSY SCRIPT
Review: Screenwritter Andrew W. Marlowe (Air Force One) obviously didn't put much effort into making a likeable storyline with his script for End of Days. The story is often slow, plot often forgotten, and situations often unpleasant. At least Frank Lauria (Dark City) managed to do the best he could with this assignment.

The story involves a cop discovering he is destined to be the protector of a woman Satan wishes to impregnate on the night of the millenial New Years celebration. Satan runs amok, raping, possening, and -- yes, this is true -- urinating in his evil ways.

The kicker is, the cop, whose family was brutally slaughtered by a drug lord, is a suicidal alcoholic, and the only way he can defeat the devil is by pushing away his past and renew his faith in the lord.

The novel is filled with fast paced action scenes, brutal killings, possesed cultists, and vatican assassins. Just enough to amuse anyone.

I'll pass up on the movie but I'll recommend the novel.

Summary: The best Action Hero VS. The most evil and feared Villain!
Review: After a long two years, waiting for ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER to get back in his action armor since his previous tradgic film: BATMAN & ROBIN in '97, SCHWARZENEGGER had to return up against the most horrifying villain of all time- SATAN. You'd expect a big action thrill ride non-stop with some scares too... But that is not quite what you get...

Director PETER HYAMS, the director of the fast paced, suspense horror film, THE RELIC, which was sincere squash buckling terror, took on a new stand, directing ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER (Jericho Cane---Terminator 2, 6th Day), ROBIN TUNNEY (Christine York---Vertical Limit), KEVIN POLLACK (Chicago---Grumpy Old Men), and GABRIEL BYRNE (Satan---Stigmata) in a new supernatural thriller, written by ANDREW MARLOWE (Air Force One) called END OF DAYS. It was the story of a suicidal cop, Jericho Cane (SCHWARZENEGGER) who is plunged into a mysterical and evil plot involving Satan (BYRNE), who at the cusp of the new millenium will reign of terror over earth, that is if he can find his bride (TUNNEY), whom he will produce his offspring and that will declare the END OF DAYS as mankind knows it. Now, Cane must find the girl and protect her all the ways that he can until midnight January 1st. The plot sounds awesome and action packed, and when I saw this movie, I couldn't believe that it wasn't a big, explosive thriller, like RELIC, or SCHWARZENEGGER's previous films. It's another game of where the trailer for the film is awesome with all that rockin' music behind it, but then the film is quite not what you'd expect. Emotional binding and spiritual conflict is where more emotion from SCHWARZENEGGER than I'd ever seen him do before, really puts on a star for this movie. He really had to work hard to make it seem as though he is so fed up with life that he can't stand to go another day. POLLACK's character, Chicago, Cane's wacky partner is a real comedian and has some funny scenes which brings out a few laughs. BYRNE's performance was the best showing how SATAN is so evil and tricks your mind, as if you could go back thousands of years and witness ADAM and EVE being tricked by SATAN as the serpant. His performance was awesome!!! Evil, but made it seem realistic! TUNNEY's character building is poor. Her films that she has starred in have not been very good. She needs to take more time to understand her role and what type of movies she belongs. This film was obviously too dark and too deep of a movie for her to be lacking character in. Her role in VERTICAL LIMIT was a little better because she was able to build chemistry with CHRIS O'DONNELL.

The special effects in this film were professional and awesomely done. From INDUSTRIAL LIGHT & MAGIC, Effects Magician STAN WINSTON (Terminator 2, Jurassic Park, Lake Placid, Predator) designed the power house, awesomely scary SATAN as the humungous evil creature that ARNOLD must battle in the end. He also created the invisible floating (somewhat) SATAN in the beginning... All I have to say is WOW!

The darkness of the story really loads on emotion more than adventure, and brings a new light to SCHWARZENEGGER and his bond to his family in which he lost in this film. His denial in faith of JESUS CHRIST because of his loss pulls away his intensity and belief that his real enemy in this film is actually SATAN and not just THE MAN. In the end, SCHWARZENEGGER as CANE does give up hope in guns and fist fights with SATAN, and prays to GOD that the LORD will protect him and give him strength to defeat his worst enemy. GO ARNOLD! It is his first time where SCHWARZENEGGER, in a film, has used words to help end a furious battle rather than big guns, swords and street fighting. Quite different than normal which adds another star.

The action again, adds a star because it is not a warlike- shoot 'em up flick of SCHWARZENEGGER's previous, ERASER, COMMANDO and TERMINATOR style films. Even he loads up pistols and a grenade launcher to stop SATAN, he realizes that isn't what he needs to end the fight. What he needs is faith... which I think is partly the message of this film. "It is more faith in yourself and Jesus, than it is violence that will help you solve a problem." Even though there is gore violence 99.9% of the time from SATAN. There is also nudity/sexuality from SATAN. And most of the profanity comes from POLLACK or SCHWARZENEGGER, but there isn't too much. Most of the evil from this film is from SATAN. SATAN is bad!!!

This movie deserves four stars because of how it is unique in its own way, its directing by PETER HYAMS, and acting by SCHWARZENEGGER, BYRNE, POLLACK and ROD STEIGER. The story is fairly good and original, but not according to the BIBLE, in the book of Revelation, where this film's story is suppose to come from, it isn't accurate so I take away a 1/2 star from this film. And I take away another 1/2 star for it is lower than what I'd hoped for from the action/adventure side and also, the sexual content that was messed up weird-like that wasn't needed, was also part of that 1/2 star I took away.

So this film gets 4 stars! It was good and I ordered this film because it is a real eye-popper which I invite action fans, Arnold Fans, Supernatural Suspense fans, End of the millenium/world fans, Special Effects fans, Religious fans and Horror fans to see. RENT IT TODAY!

Summary: Not for the light-hearted.
Review: Typical Arnie fans will probably love this. He lays his same sort of character, but he seems a bit more edgy in this film and he's lost his sense-of-humour, like he usually has in his other films. But this isn't a bad film. It's all about Satan himself coming to New York, seeking a paticular woman who he wants her to be the mothyer anerchist. Arnie plays an ex-cop, he has lost his wife and daughter and is ready to kill himself. But he soon gets stuck when he has to protect the girl. Let's get one thing straight, this isn't a film were you see a big red monster (Satan) walking around the streets of New York. Satan takes a normal guy's (Gabriel Burn) body and uses that body to walk around.
The film can be very sick at points, and I wouldn't let any light-hearted people watch it. You see sick things like a snake getting cut open, a man being set on fire etc etc. The film does have some odd but very good special effects, you see Satan as he usually is at the end, but it may dissapoint you 'cause he isn't in it for long. The film can be a bit suspenseful at times and can keep you guessing. It isn't all scary, but it might give you a couple of jumps maybe.
I don't have anything else to say really, apart from: Arnie fans will love, see it if want any horror film. Oh, and the flashback scene with his wife and daughter is BRILLIANT!

Summary: Satan gets blowed up real good
Review: Comparing the Exorcist to this movie is like comparing Laurence Olivier's Hamlet to Godzilla versus Mechagodzilla. Interesting that so many people applauded Gabriel Byrne's portrayal of Satan. How would they know? Perhaps this movie appeals to satanists. One particularily disturbing scene has Satan apparently urinating on the streets of New York. This would explain a lot if you've ever been there. Two stars for some mildly amusing special effects

Summary: A Twisted, Evil, Mess
Review: I wouldn't give this any stars.

This film is offensive, indecent, and harmful, and shows a disgraceful lack of knowledge and understanding.

Anyone who has any respect for God or for goodness should avoid watching this film. The explicit scene where Satan is having sex with a man's wife and daughter at the same time, whom he has possessed to lie with him, is just one example of what you shouldn't allow yourself to suffer seeing.

Summary: Good Stuff
Review: Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as Jericho Cane, a burned-out ex-cop with the world on his shoulders -- literally! Satan has taken over the body of a Wall Street banker (Gabriel Byrne) and has one goal in mind: mating with an innocent woman (Robin Tunney) before the end of the millennium (thus setting off Armageddon). Can Arnold save her -- and the world -- in time?
