Review: This is my favorite ninja movie and I'm very excited about it coming to dvd. The fight scenes are very good and entertaining. Sho Kosugi is the real deal and obviously has studied ninjitsu. As much as I like this movie, it's not perfect. There are some scenes that defy credulity such as when the bad ninja places dummy ninjas in certain areas when he couldn't have possibly brought them with him or when he pulls out his flame thrower. If you can overlook these minor flaws, you'll really enjoy this movie if you like campy, martial arts movies. As a bonus, the supporting actress, Ashley Ferrare, is very good and fun to watch. The plot is pretty standard except for the fun twist of pitting the mob vs. ninja (guess who wins that one!). All of the acting is better than it should be and the fight scenes excellently choregraphed. Highly recommend!

Review: this is my favorite ninja movie,except for sho's other classic ninja film:pray for death.I myself am a practicing ninja,having studied many of the same techniques that kosugi uses in this awesome film.What makes this movie so great is that it is based on what ninjitsu is all about,protecting oneself and one's family.This film is also about revenge on those who betray you and harm your loved ones.This movie and "Pray for Death" are the greastest ninja films of all-time and no others even come close! Kosugi himself is a real life practicing ninja and a stuntman who does all his own stunts. hail the great Sho Kosugi and hail real ninjitsu!

Summary: was not worth the wait.
Review: this is one of my favorite films of all time and the only good ninja movie, until Christopher Lambert made "The Hunted". i had been waiting years for "Revenge..." to be put on DVD, but am very disappointed. regardlees of the unavoidable campiness that comes with action movies that have low budgets, Kosugi's character is very interesting. it reminds me of Pacino's "Michael Corleone" being pulled back into his life of crime in "Godfather 3". "revenge of the ninja" is most definitely a classic.
unfortunately, this DVD is not worth buying because it only has the Full screen version and no extras. unless you simply enjoy having it on DVD, you may as well stick with the VHS. you get exactly the same thing, but without the fancy technology. i don't know if this film was shot in widescreen or not, but personally, the full vision (widescreen) is the only reason to go with DVD. as film is a visual medium, the photography is just as important if not more so in any well made film. it's like trying to read a novel that has had every other page torn out.

Review: This movie is very old and very campy, but it is one of the coolest ninja movies. Sho Kosugi blows away all other martial arts guys. The man playing the evil ninja currently stars in some soft pornography films on Cinemax. It is a great film though and pits good ninja vs. bad ninja for his son.

Yes, the special effects are a little rough but man does the fight scenes make up for it in the long run. Sho Kosugi kicks major butt in this flick. Probably the strongest film of its genre, I've seen many by comparison and they just don't stand up. Kosugi's real son had a role in the film. Watch out for that little man, he'll whoop yours and my butts at the same time. I give it a 4.5 otta five. A must have if you can find it.

Summary: Great Movie!
Review: This movie was inadvertently recommended to me by Amazon (probably because I bought a couple of Jackie Chan flicks)and immediatly I was transported back to 1984 when I used to watch this on HBO after school. I must've seen it about 30 times when it was on then. So I preordered without question when it came out on DVD about a year and a half ago. Sho Kosugi is amazing! I couldn't believe I never sought these films out sooner (me being a huge Bruce Lee & martial arts films fan). The acting is pretty laughable but what martial arts film has GOOD acting? The music wasn't bad and I loved the theme that played while Cho (Sho Kosugi) was breaking the seal on his Ninja katana in the temple. That scene to this day sends chills up my spine. I got a good laugh out of how Bradon (the evil masked Ninja) had so many weapons on him, including a life sized decoy of himself! Even the Indian from Grizzly Adams fame made a cameo as one of the mob boss' goons. The biggest laugh of all was the gang in the playground. An unlikely group consisting of a biker, a martial arts thug, a cowbow, and a jive soul brother! YMCA anyone? LOL! The blond floozie was a waste of space... As Cho said, I think she forgot her pants. And who can forget the acrobatic Oba-san (granny?) The fight scenes and use of the Ninja weapons made the film.
Not much on extras as there's just the theatrical trailer. It's in mono and panscan. Would've been nice in widescreen but what can you do? It's a B movie...
Now all they have to do is release the other movies on DVD like Enter the Ninja and Ninja III: The Domination.

Summary: Worst action and plot
Review: This was slow, pathetic, and laughable. I really laughed at it! the music was terrible and the action was unrealistic. and the most ridiculous part was when the big guy was chasing the kid, the kid pointed out a window and said "look superman!" and the big guy said "where? Where?" and the kid then hit him..!

Summary: Best of a Bad Bunch
Review: To be honest their aren't that many decent ninja movies out there. The problem is down to the fact that the Martial Art Ninjutsu has been sensationalised by the Media who know very little if nothing about it. What this movie did along with the first one was bring the art of the ninja into the main stream. If it's good old-fashioned 80-style action you're after then this is about as good a ninja movie your going to get. But on the other hand if you want a more realistic version you may want to take a look at Shogun, Shinobi no mono or wait for the Last Samurai to come to DVD. If 80's ninja movies is you're thing then this is the best of a bad bunch. Buy this one or Enter the Ninja but forget the rest from this period.

Summary: "You forgot your pants..."
Review: What a car wreck of a movie! It's so bad you can't help but to watch it. Another film with the Golan-Globus seal of quality! Yeesh!! Nobody can act in this film except the kid, who outdoes everybody! Painful dialogue, lousy production values and Salt Lake City, Utah standing in for Los Angeles. Think of this film as a showcase for the wide array of ninja weaponry/gadgets shown and used and it's sort of worth your time. Expect any more than that and you will be sorely dissappointed. Real 80's cheese at it's best (or is it worst?). The gangbangers look like rejects from a Village People audition! Was this supposed to look menacing back then??! This film, however, did start a ninja craze back in the 80's and was popular enough for ninjitsu master (and star), Sho Kushugi, to make several more films (most went straight to video), and appear in a TV series (The Master, starring Lee Van Cleef as a ninja! Sho was his ninja arch enemy and made several appearances in the show). All this being said, I was impressed with the video quality of this dvd. The video is so sharp and clear that if it wasn't for the cars and clothes that gave away the true age, you would've sworn they just shot the film yesterday! It's not letterboxed, which is a shame, but since this plays like a bad made-for-cable-tv movie, it fits the full-screen format very well. If you're a ninja fan or want the nostalgia trip of seeing this film again (I hadn't seen it since I saw it in theaters as a teenager way back when), you might have fun with it. Everybody else, stay far away...!
