Summary: DVD at last!!!
Review: ...It's got the lot - 1 on 20 fight sequences, great stunts, fantastic B movie acting, lots of uneccessary flipping around, cool ninja tools, weapons and mystic chanting. Throw in a fair helping of gore and the odd bit of nudity, and voila... An 80's classic. All at last on a DVD that presents the most complete cut of the film I have ever seen. The UK version has always been heavily cut (as was the norm in the 80's clampdown on violence), but this version not only contains the whopping 8 or so minutes cut from the UK, but also re-instates all of the cuts made in the R rated US version. So this really is the definitive version, and an absolute must for Kosugi fans, or fans of those great 80's ninja flicks!

Summary: My Big Wish Came True of UNCUT VERSION!
Review: About 2-3years ago, I wrote a review that helped four out of five people, and one who e-mailed me back personally. These people didn't realize that there were extra gore scenes cut out and a big scene that was cut out towards the end. I have the 35mm trailer of the film, And I was very happy that MGM put the original trailer on there. Now if MGM could start doing original movie poster artwork for their films, because the original poster art for this film is excellent. This is the ultimate Ninja film of the 80's, and now you can see it in it's full glory with every scene intact. A friend of mine has put up a neat Yahoo Group Site of Movie Trailers and T.V. Spots that I'm helping him with. I am making a special section of showing screenshots of the extra footage only in the original movie trailer of Revenge Of The Ninja. It's too bad those scenes couldn't of been added to the final cut of the film, but at least you get to see a glimpse of the trailer. I would encourage anybody who's a Ninja fan or Martial Arts Fan, to buy this terrific movie, and Amazon gives it a tremendous price for the DVD. And Drop by to visit the group site ...

Summary: Finally - the ultimate ninja film arrives on DVD
Review: Anyone who, like me, grew up watching this film will be celebrating at long last a DVD release, which is well overdue. The best news of all, is that for the first time ever, we are getting the most complete cut of the film to be released. Previous home VHS releases in the USA have had numerous scene cuts and it's even worse in the UK, where whole sections were cut out. However, the restrictions on film violence have changed over the years which means that for this DVD release, everything is in. By that I mean, the shuriken fighting, the face injuries, the nunchakus, even the ridiculous blood spurt at the end - all in. Whether these improve the film is debatable - but for Sho Kosugi and martial arts fans - at least we are now getting the whole picture. The DVD features the original trailer - which contains yet more scenes that would never make the final cut - and are forever lost. Although the DVD is light on extras, it does present the film with a very crisp and wonderful newly mastered DVD print - everything looks better than ever before. It's still silly. But it happens to be the best ninja film ever made, and Sho Kosugi's finest hour. A must-see that goes into the collection with the Bruce Lee epics.

Summary: DVD adds little to an already great "B" ninja movie
Review: For anyone who liked "Revenge" to begin with, this DVD is a great opportunity to own a cleaner very with a few extended scenes. Yes, some of the death scenes have been extended to include some of the infamous gore that was originally cut in the U.S. and European versions. Even the trailer on the DVD teases with more scenes that were cut from the film that actually didn't make it back on this version. So, yes, this is slightly better than the video version, but it's not all it could have been, and it's not widescreen either. Bummer.

Summary: Is this the start of a "Ninja" trilogy????
Review: For years, fans had to satisfy their Sho Kosugi DVD craving with 9 Deaths of the Ninja and Black Eagle (UGH!). But that has all changed! FINALLY, Revenge of the Ninja is on the verge of being released on DVD!! By far the best Sho movie out there, Revenge of the Ninja dazzles us with the mystique and ingenuity of ninjitsu. Let's face it, this movie is what inspired all 80's teens to buy tabi boots and throwing stars!
As for the movie itself, the B-rated acting is easily overlooked thanks to the ninja choreography of Sho Kosugi. Fantastic fight scenes and a vast array of ninja weapons keeps the audience entertained, all the way through the climatic rooftop fight scene.
If you are new to Sho Kosugi and the ninja film genre, this is a great place to get started. And keep your eyes open for the Grandma Ninja flip-across-the-room scene...it's great!!

Review: I can't believe that Sam("The Sham")Firstenberg had the chutzpah to even release this one.There are no extra scenes period.This is why people buy DVDs in the first place!The DVD is one hour and 30 minutes long.So is the VHS.What does the viewer get from buying the DVD version?Absolutely nada.No extra fight scenes in this one.Not even an extra gratuitous sex scene.Like I said nada .I know that there has to be additional footage out there somewhere,but you won't find it here.The director could have at least developed the characters of some of the bad guys instead of making them these anonymous mobsters.It is clear that this film was released on DVD to make a quick buck,period.I guess they figured that die-hard fans like me would buy it.Now they have my money,and I have the same product that I already had on VHS.Don't be a schmuck and buy this DVD.You have been warned.

Summary: Why was this movie ever made?
Review: I don't even know were to start. Coming from a person who likes action films such as: Die Hard, Face off, Hard Boiled, and the Killer; has an anime collection that includes: Baki Grappler, Shura No Taki, Fist of the North Star, and Full Metal Alchemist; enjoys martial arts films and series which include: Naruto, Dragonball Z, Last Hurrah for Chivalry, most Jet Li films, and Ong Bak; and myself being a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and also practice ninjutsu I can honestly tell you that this movie in 100% terrible. The movie starts out well with a good plot, but you are immediately turned away by stupid tactics used by the ninjas in this film who appear out of nowhere and jump into the middle of the screen completely visible to everyone around them are not tactics used by ninjas. Even though a lot of people die in this movie, it still sucks; which you can conclude from the very first fight. The story could be interesting, but very few camera angles make it hard to produce authentic fighting scenes, in which you can actually see that people are completely missing each other with their attacks, and none of the fighting scenes would rate no higher than a 1 on my scale from 1-100. Having bought this movie dirt cheap, I can say that I'm glad I saved money while it was on sale. This movie was a complete waste of my time. I wanted to return the movie to the store and ask for 90 minutes of my life back + a refund for the cost of the movie. Instead of watching this movie, you would be doing something EXTREMELY more constructive...... like sitting in a chair and staring at a blank wall for an hour and a half. You couldn't pay me to watch this movie again.

Summary: Fun Filled B-Action Karate Flick
Review: I enjoyed Enter the Ninja, so I decided to give Revenge of the Ninja a try. It was even more fun than I expected. Of course it sticks to it's B-Move roots of producers Golan-Globus, and aparently it is a sequel to Enter the Ninja. Although there is NO connection, other than the star Sho Kosugi. Revenge of the Ninja stands well on its own and is actually better than Enter. The fight chorography is stupendous and really made the film more enjoyable. The fights are even better than Enter; must be due to Kusugi staging the choreography himself. Kung Fu fans enjoy! For more B-Action move enjoyment, see the next entry Ninja III: The Domination. Again it has nothing to do with Enter the Ninja or Revenge of the Ninja other than Kosugi, but still is fun in its B-Movie way.

Summary: The torchbearer of the mid 80's ninja craze
Review: I first saw this feature when I was twelve. To say that I was captivated, is an understatement. To me, these guys were sort of invincible martial artists. Nothing I had ever seen before in US films, only in kung fu theatre (which I found to be somewhat ridiculous and dull when there was no fighting). These ninjas had all these amazing tricks and abilities, I thought they were so cool. To watch this for the first time as a kid was pretty exciting. After this movie and then the TV show "the master", the ninja explosion took off in America. As far as the movie itself goes, it is still fun to watch, even today. Don't expect Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon here. This is a "b" action movie without a doubt, but it's a cult classic. Great fighting scenes, surrounded by mediocre acting and storyline. There's plenty of eye candy to keep it entertaining throughout, despite it's major flaws. My only complaint was the vhs tape version's ending. I remember the evil ninja taking a lot more damage and spraying blood at the end. It may have been a little too gory to keep, but now the end looks edited and rushed.

Review: I have never seen a fighting movie better than this one. I am 15 and watch movies like Revenge of the Ninja all the time, and this one is by far the best. It inspired me to take up karate and I enjoy so much I will probobly do it the rest of my life. The fighting scenes are the BEST. It is a classic, great film. If you don't buy it you are missing out!
