Summary: Very Good
Review: The beach is one of those movies that is so different from the movie Trailers. I thought He went to the Island and Hunters also went and try to hurt them. but I was wrong the guys with guns are Neighbours.

Leonardo DiCaprio in his first LEADING role since Man in the Iron Mask Was a little sluggish but was good. The Beach reminds me of survior.

The Beach is a good movie with good surprizes!

The BEACH: B

Summary: The Beach
Review: Leonardo DiCaprio has wanted to prove that he can act. Well, his performance in Titanic was impressive, but the public dismissed it as a fluke. DiCaprio, however, has proved that he does have what it takes to make a film work, and he does so in The Beach.

The film itself is a little confusing; there is no character or story development -- the only character I know well is DiCaprio's. He plays Richard, a pot-smoking young man seeking adventure in Thailand. After having witnessed a suicide, Richard, along with a French couple (Virginie Ledoyen and Guillaume Canet), embarks in an adventure that he has never fathomed. He has found paradise: a beautiful island with a free and calm community. The three young tourists feel at home, but then discover that the so-called paradise is actually a nightmare.

The film has its strong points, but as I've already mentioned, it lacks character development. I would have liked to get to know the other characters better. But still, it is a great film to watch. I recommend it.

Summary: Parents: do NOT let your kids see this trash!
Review: This film should have not made it to the theaters, but even still, it should have been rated NC-17. The entire plot revolves around teens traveling by themselves to a foreign country (Thailand) so they can live there forever, smoking natively grown marijuana and have sex non-stop.

An EXTREMELY graphic sex scene was totally unnecessary in this film, as was the film itself, which didn't even have a story. This is a film w/o an audience, only teens who adore DiCaprio could stomach this film and they have no business seeing what amounts to being trash for the mind.

Summary: 2 Hours of Paradise!
Review: The Beach was filmed on a beautiful island...in Thailand. The story in this film was weird and I thought they could of do much better! I mean when a movie is filmed on a island, they could of think of some other better ways to create a wonderful film. The only think enjoyable about this movie was the location, it just takes your breate away! I think the book was more interesting and fun to read...if your planning on watching a movie that has a story, then don't bother. If your planning on watching beautiful scenery then I suggest you buy it!

Summary: A luminous excursion into humanity's darkest side.
Review: The Beach is a story of a young man's search for paradise, a search that has until this point left him unsatisfied. He is escaping his "life", looking for the ultimate soul searching experience. He is part of a generation that grew up on video games, war movies, televison dramas. Anxious to experience the real thing, he decides to seek out a "perfect beach" that was described to him by a whacked out Scottish traveller named "Daffy Duck", who, just before he slashed his wrists, pins a map to this ultimate beach on Richard's flop house door.

He connects with a beautiful French couple and together they finally make their way, through lots of obstacles, to The Beach.

After lapping up the sheer perfection of the scenery, and basking in the free spirit of the commune, Richard notices a subtle shift. Maybe it's the drugs, or maybe it's his emotional entanglements with Ledoyen and commune leader Sal that shifts the balance, but things are turning nasty and pretty soon Leo finds himself ejected from the safety of the Beach and descending into a nightmare of paranoid dread. His paradise has been lost.

Leonardo DiCaprio turns in an amazing performance as Richard. It seems like Leo has returned to his roots, where he made himself a reputation for choosing roles that challenge his creativity, characters that are fighting off demons...

He takes us through all of Richard's emotions with believable flow....he has an amazing way of tilting his head, using his eyes, changing his expression that keep the audience totally tuned in to his character's inner feelings. He is spot on during all the comedic scenes, as well as bringing us on an emotional roller coaster throughout the tough character changes Richard goes through especially during the last act.

The film is a visual feast for the eyes. The cinematography is beautiful, and it comes complete with a pumping soundtrack that matches perfectly with the story.

My only complaint is a lack of flow during the second act. It seems some of the flow was lost during the editing process, and we are left feeling confused and muddled about the actual commune experience. But the first and last acts more than make up for a lagging middle, and the fantastic acting, as well as the great fast paced action of the finale is well worth the price of admission.

It's too bad that this movie was not seen by many on the big screen. It's a beautiful piece of film!

Thank you Danny Boyle, Andrew MacDonald and John Hodge for sticking to your guns where this movie is concerned! Well done!

Summary: A Good Movie
Review: I thought "The Beach" was a good movie. It has good actors, good music, and a good plot. It's about 3 teens who are on the search for a wonderful paradise, but all they find is danger and trouble. The actors of this movie acted great and this movie was shot in a good location. So I think this movie is good.

Summary: A movie worth to see
Review: I like this movie because it touches me in many ways. When I was young, I went travelling with a backpack. During the journey, I met many ¡§Richard¡¨ who sought something totally different. Anyhow, they finally found the destination is not important, the most important is the experience.

Many movie reviewers not really understand why Richard suddenly becomes insane. But I have experienced travelling alone for a long time, got isolated and did not have anyone to talk to, thought too much. I suddenly fell into a fantasy world. My state of mind changed and sometimes mixed the imagination and the real world.

Overall, If you do want watch a non-mainsteam movie with something to discuss. This one is a good choice for you. The scenery is beautiful, excellent sound track and the acting is strong.

Summary: The Beach Review
Review: So this movie preview is on the screen and it looks pretty crazy,.. That's what I was saying to myself as I saw the theatrical trailer to this movie for the first time. I saw the movie the first day it came out, and even if you are not a Leo fan, like I wasn't, you gain respect for the guy from this movie. It features Him pursuing the life of a traveler who goes to Thailand. he meets this guy with a map and goes on a search for this hidden beach.

The movies location for the hidden beach was beautiful and the actors weren't that bad at all, I liked this movie and hope everyone gets a chance to see it!

Summary: Too easy to disregard
Review: It is so easy to dog this film because it has Leonardo in it and after the Titanic spawned Leo Mania, it seems that most people will write off any project that involves him as simple bubble gum. Thats sad because this is a really good film. Anyone that has done the travel thing and lost themselves trying to find something that they can call their own can feel the message of the film. Most of the criticism is aimed at the plot or lack there of. Nonsense, this has far more plot than most of the dribble we are fed. I think that the plot is rather sublte in that it explores who we are when we are far from home and how we interact with others while trying to figure out our own role. The visual aspects of the film cant be knocked as they are truly stunning, Breath taking, and mind blowing. The soundtrack is pretty cool as well.

Summary: An exotic adventure! A brilliant film!
Review: I have no idea what everyone is talking about! I loved this movie! It was strange and exotic! It isn't like every other movie that is out there right now. I think that's why people are so threatened by this film! Although I can't remember a whole lot about this movie, it has been a while since it was in theatres, but it is a very powerful film. If you have ever read the book "Lord of the Flies" you know what I mean. This movie is very similar to that book. You become very in tune with the characters on the screen and start to feel like you are on the beach too! So you don't want to leave any more than they do. The sweet bunch of people inhabiting this island begin to change in to blood thirsty animals fighting to remain living on their not so secret island. It also had a lot of unexpected comedy. All in all I HAVE to give this movie 5 stars! It was brilliant!
