Summary: 24 Hours revisited
Review: The book was a page turner and the movie was, for the most part, faithful to the book which is something you rarely see. The book was so great that I thought I had actually seen the movie when it initially started even though I was sure I hadn't. I knew everything before it happened but it was nice to see my memory affirmed with the movie. Greg Iles wrote the book and the screen play. Although affiliated with the military overseas, I was stunned that I hadn't heard of this film and am further stunned that it bombed at the box office. This may be Kevin Bacon's best performance and Charlize Theron is better than she's ever been in this role. Sadism and the kidnapping of a child is probably what got the movie an R rating but I think that's excessive. I read the book, 24 Hours, in a day and was on the edge of my seat. Even knowing what was happening, I was on the edge of my seat watching the movie. The ending is rather dramatic and easier to understand if you read the book first. There are a couple of minor differences between the book and the movie but not much. Although I bought the DVD by accident, it turned out to be a very happy accident. No one will be bored watching this movie. Greg Iles is an exceptional author. Read the book; watch the movie! Be prepared for a fast ride with both. This is one of the few DVD's I will watch more than once.

Review: This movie was really a surprise.It didn't receive a lot of publicity so I wasn't expecting a film of this caliber. An excellent cast,all delivering top performances,really provides a treat.Noone,except possibly Christopher Walken,makes a more menancing creep than Kevin Bacon.Theron and Love are fine and Vince continues to turn in one great,undernoticed performance after another in his career and this is no exception. The plot moves and causes you to pay attention and with the terrific performances,who could ask for more----watch it!

Review: I always knew, that Kevin was a good actor. But the movie shows, that his emotional playing is one of the best, Charlize crying was natural as usual. To tell the truth, the operator's work does the movie and that's all. Sorry for my english:)

Summary: better than they are saying
Review: I love Kevin as an actor now and what he is doing in roles in movies now. I despised footloose and that candy coated [stuff]people liked that started his carrier. Liked him ever since he started playing darker roles, I love his acting now. My only complaint was Courtney Love could have played a way better role than what she did. She is good with strong female roles, this one she is the weak-beat-up / domestic violence victim. It really doesn't fit her, especially considering how much she likes to fight with people. She did better in Larry Flint. Anyway, to Kevin: stick with these types of movies: Trapped, Stir of Echoes, murder in the first, tremors, hollow man!!

Summary: Ugly.
Review: This is one of those movies, like 52 Pickup, that make you want to take a shower afterwards. Kevin Bacon is almost too good at this! Without giving away the almost 100% cliche plot would someone explain why Kevin is seeking revenge against this couple--yet they are his fourth set of victims, not the first? Did he ring the wrong doorbell the first 3 times?

Summary: One of only 2 movies I ever was tempted to walk out of...
Review: *Small Spoilers* This movie reminded me of one of those ludicrous kids movies where the insolent little protagonists beat up on mindlessly evil adults until they get their way and then the movie is thankfully over. Trapped is very similar in that a woman who has a choice between obeying her daughters captor or having her killed would rather fight him every step of the way and disregard even the most basic of instructions. Even from the fast paced beginning I could see this one was going to be a loser. For example, the young kidnap victim just suffers a horrible asthma attack and is frightened out of her mind but manages to steal an unfamiliar cell phone from her admittedly dim-witted kidnapper and race into the freezing, pitch-black woods to call her mother. So this little trembling, scared child just flips open the phone, pops in the number and presto, her moms on the line and all is playing out accordingly so as to move the plot along. Maybe the movie wouldn't have been quite so bad if it didn't rely on huge stretches in logic like this to string the plot along. Once every ten minutes I was violently jarred out of the flow of the movie by a ridiculous leap in credibility like the one just mentioned. As far as the acting goes, Kevin Bacon does well in another trademark villain role. But this time he seems to take it just one step further and his character has a little more depth to it than some of his others have had(don't want to ruin the surprises!) Charlize Theron is fabulous, even though her character does some unbelievably stupid things in the movie. It's almost like she doesn't care what happens, if her daughter is going to die then they all might as well die...that sometimes the way she acts. That erratic, irrational behavior really kept me from getting into the movie. I tend to be very cynical of movies like this when the villains have great plans and they are very patient, intelligent people. Because you know that in most variations on this theme that the good guys will pull the solution out of their butts. I prefer a movie that really makes the good guys think and be original...not just act insane like Therons character did, or like a little version of Super Woman like the precocious kidnap victim. All-in-all it's just my opinion and honestly I wasn't entertained at all, just disappointed.

Summary: Good Movie, But the YUPPIES should have DIED!
Review: I just could not side with the Charlize Theron character. She was a mindless [person] obsessed with her child. Of course I don't think that kidnapping the child was a good thing. But I definately think that that yuppie doctor and his blonde bimbo wife deserved to be blackmailed by Kevin Bacon and Courtney Love simply because they were such boring [people]. How any scriptwriter can expect sympathy for those stupid characters is beyond me. I mean should I care because she is blond? Should I care because she has kids? Why should I care about the Charlize Theron character? No logical reason is given except that she and her husband are being victimized. But they are shallow jerks and they deserved it. I mean at least it brought some suspense into their cocktail party filled life. Do these yuppie characters ever think? Do they have a point of view? Or are these characters simply the same dreadful people you meet at STARBUCKS every day with their fashion accessory children in tow and their hideous designer casual wardrobe causing you to go blind. Just give them the money and then shut up.

Review: This movie was better then I though. Very good acting performance from Kevin Bacon and Charlize Theron, Courtney Love is good also but not great, she's a very good actress she should do more main characters and movies, when she play main role she's better then playing a supporting actress. The husband of Theron in the movie is plain and boring, the little girl act very good. Overall if you like action this movie is for you.

Summary: Unimaginative and silly
Review: The movie had promise, but never fear, all of the old tricks come out of the bag. There were no twists or surprises. Immediately, you know that Kevin Bacon (the vile kidnapper) will end up dead, and his wife will change sides and end up assisting the "good guys." It really is silly that when Kevin Bacon is threatened with castration, he's ready to call the kidnapping off. But when a gun is held to his throat, he sings a different tune and merely tells the poor mother that her child will be killed if he dies... The movie rapidly began to move from silly to ludicrous in the second part, when first the husband rips off his FBI wiring tap and decides to play cowboy. For real stupidity, there's the airplane scene, when he's flying above water and turns off the engine so it won't sound like he's on a plane while he talks to the kidnapper. Then of course there's the idiotic traffice accident, and what would a modern movie be without the "dead man rising scene!" People are never just killed anymore in movies--they are beaten, shot, strangled, burned alive and presumed down--and then they miraculously pop up for one last tango. In this movie, Kevin Bacon, already wounded and suffering a large blood loss, is bashed in the head by an iron pipe. But the superman that he is, not only is he still conscious, but virile enough to bounce up and still fight. If you want to feel "trapped" by stupidity, then this is the movie for you.
