Summary: Very disappointing acting and plot
Review: A truly disappointing re-make of the Avengers series! Poor-quality and often childish acting and a soppy plot. The original Ms. Peel would be badly disappointed!

Summary: Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman pull it off in this one.
Review: I reccommend this movie to anyone who likes action and adventure movies. Uma Thurman (Batman & Robin) really nails the part of Emma Peel. I like her sword fight with Steed, she really pulls it off. I totally disagree with anyone who says that this movie stinks. Ralph Fiennes (voice on The Prince of Egypt) does an excellent job as John Steed. He's very humourous and relaxed in his part. At least I think so. Sean Connery (voice on Dragonheart) plays, what I think, could be the most evil villian in movie history. Sir August de Wynter, could change the name a little though, is truly evil and twisted, I like the way he acts as the bad guy. Quote from the movie: Alice: Mr. de Wynter says that unless his demands are met by midnight tonight, the weather will keep getting colder and colder untill we'll all have to go to hell just to warm up.

Summary: Wonderful
Review: Uma Thurman is wonderful as sexy Emma Peel. Ralph Fiennes is also wonderful as decadant John Steed. Together they are unstoppable. Sean Connery and Patrick Macnee also do much to make this film even better than it would be.

Summary: I'll give a negative grade if I can
Review: I can't believe a movie with such a big budget and three big stars could be this bad. I think I'm very easy to be pleased, even Lost in space is not very bad to me. At least Lost in space has some not very bad special effects. The avengers doesn't have anything interesting inside. Not even special effect.(so shitty) I tried three times to finish a 90 mins movie and I was bored to death. I guess the CEO of WB should resign. Look what he did, Lost in space, postman, and this which must be the worst.

Sorry ralph fiennes, but why you took this stupid role. I hope this won't ruin your career

Summary: An underrated attempt at capturing the feel of the 60's
Review: The Avengers. The words alone conjure up specific images of a never never London. Ralph and Uma step silently into the shoes of McNee and Rigg and attempt to reignite to explosive series of the 60's. The movie is a visual frenzy of good ideas. The acting is appropriately over the top as is the script. It has been given an unfair press, not even being revued prior to release in England. Anyway, I liked it. It is fun, its silly, its exciting... and Sean Connery is in it. What more do you want ? Does it have a script ? No. Was it well planned ? No. That's what makes it work. Its chaotic and wild. I only have one complaint. There is not enough of the original music in the movie, and none of the songs on the OST appear in it. Now that I've made this revue, I'm going to buy my own copy and have a cup of tea. One lump or two ?

Summary: A movie (and DVD) horrific in its badness -- save your money
Review: I knew the movie got bad reviews, but thought I'd buy it anyway, since I love the British spy genre in general (Bond, et al) and figured it couldn't be THAT bad... Well, I was wrong!! Save your money! Poor Sean Connery's worst choice of a film since Highlander 2: The Quickening. Uma Thurman is still a goddess but she AIN'T English and she AIN'T Emma Peel, and Ralph Fiennes is totally miscast. It amazes me that Hollywood could mess up a nearly foolproof concept like an Avengers movie, and furthermore that the studio moguls were willing to bankroll the idiots who wrote, casted, and directed this one. Ugh. I can't say it enough -- don't waste your money as I did...

Summary: If you liked the tv series you'll like this movie.
Review: I thought it was a pretty good movie and certainly retains all the humor and flair of the old tv show. However, I believe I would have preferred seeing Sean Connery as John Steed and the other guy (I can't even remember his name) as the bad guy. I think Uma Thurman is beautiful and a marvelous actress, but she will never replace Dianna Rigg as the redoubtable Emma Peel, at least not for me.
