Rating: Summary: CHEESIER THAN EDAM Review: Any film in which Freddy Mercury (the lead singer from Queen) is the main bad guy is gotta be worth checking out. This very fast-paced film (90 minutes) has some totally ace set pieces and a brick-faced performance from Arnie, who is more deadpan than anyone in any other movie that I have seen. The Austrian Ape displays the kind of very bad humor that I LOVE!!! I mean "I eat green berets for breakfast and right now I'm VERY hungry" is a classic line of dialogue from this movie. But the stand-out feature of this film is the ACE musical score from James Horner. Why this score is not available on CD is beyond me but it sure does rock. Horner uses steel drums, electric guitars and saxaphones to brilliant effect. Once again...it is a great score. One of the best. The action may be preposterously stupid (Arnie hides in a ricketty old hut, 5 bad guys fire about 1, 000, 000 bullets into it and he is unharmed) and the plot cliched but this is a perfect movie to watch with friends/girlfriends. Everyone will love it. No doubt. The DVD is in Dolby Surround (although 3 players I have tried it on say 5.1) and is letterboxed at 1.85:1.
Rating: Summary: Pathedic! Review: Man, this has gotta be 1 of the worst movies i ever saw in my life! Arnold was stupid & so was the rest of the cast. The plot is such a "has been." It's also a "no-brainer." All Schwartzenegger knows how to do is shoot people...he can't act. This movie was so pathedic & crappy that it was funny...w/ out even meaning to be. Thats how a tell a pathedic film from 1 that's not. The dialog is sooo lame its an insult to our intellegence. An example would be a line such as "Please, don't disturb my friend, he's dead tired." That is so stupid now that it's almost funny, for today it is. I bet in the 80's, when this movie came out....people were cracking up. Don't see this stupid film. Well, see it just to make fun of how bad it is, but that's about all it's good for.
Rating: Summary: Great but have a question Review: This is a fine movie but my question is about the soundtrack. Does one exist and where can I find one? The main reason for my question is of a song by THE POWER STATION featured on this soundtrack. I can't find the song anywhere. Anyone who can help can reach me at bsaullo@symoatico.ca Thanks in advance!!
Rating: Summary: I'll be back, BENNETT Review: The best movie in the world ever!
Rating: Summary: the worst Review: me english not good. still i see comando and it worst movie i ever see. i must turn off half way through. this bad bad movie terrible even.
Rating: Summary: Not one of Arnold's best! Review: Commando starts off as a great action movie, but as the movie goes on the more dull the story gets. I always say that what makes a movie is its ending, and this movie has great action, but gets very old. I swear Arnold must kill at least 50 guys at the end but get only a couple of scratches on him, that's what made me kinda dislike this movie, but thank god his next films were wonderful. Take my advice unless your a die-hard Arnold fan pick it up, if not just leave it at the counter.
Rating: Summary: Really PATHEDIC, but good Review: This is a hard movie to review cuz it has its goods & bads. ITs really pathedic how bad the actting is, action is, & the humor is. The plot is so pathedic its laughable just like everything else in this movie. All the villians are lame, their acttings almost as bad as Schwarzeneggers. The action is so laughable the stuff in the Matrix is more realistic than this!Still..lol....I have to love this movie just cuz of how pathedic it is & how laughable everything is in it. SPOILER Heres what I mean. The tarzan thing in the mall, when arnold swings all the way down on the balloon? Or on the island when the soldiers look like they're blind & shooting cap guns. Or when arnold is trapped in the shed & uses the blades like hes William Wallace from Braveheart to chop the guys up.
Rating: Summary: Not entirely serious Review: After 'The Terminator' Arnold Schwarzenegger took a while to find his feet again. 'Red Sonja' was a backwards step, 'Raw Deal' was forgettable and dull, and between them came 'Commando', a live-action comic strip. It wasn't until 'Predator' that his future was assured. 'Commando' is an extremely enjoyable, very silly action film in the mould of 'The A-Team', but with more violence. Anybody who remembers the old arcade game 'Operation Wolf' (the one with the Uzi on the cabinet) will know this film. It's precisely the kind of thing that kids love - Arnold Schwarzenegger mowing down crowds of the same group of extras with a big machine-gun, essentially - done with a tongue so firmly rammed into its cheek that it's very hard to be offended. Action films nowadays are much more wholesome, and 'Commando' belongs firmly in another era, but it's still good fun, especially if you're slightly drunk and / or with a group of friends.
Rating: Summary: Good action film. Review: Commando is a pretty cool action film. I've seen it more than once throughout the years. Arnold Schwarzenegger does a solid job in his role as Colonel John Matrix. The acting from the rest of the cast is satisfying, too. There are some cool action scenes and stunts throughout the movie--the action scenes near the end of the film are especially noticeable. I find the plot of Commando to be pretty good. The movie keeps a steady pace and isn't boring, either. I do admit that certain parts of Commando are improbable and somewhat silly. I don't think that this takes away from the overall film, though. There are some scenes that are quite funny. I find Commando to be solid and entertaining from beginning to end. It's a film that can be watched more than once. There's plenty of action, and the film keeps your attention and is enjoyable. Worth a watch.
