Summary: Great movie
Review: Lord of the flies is a great movie about young boys who get trapped on an island without any sane adults. They have to hunt cook and what ever else you can think of so they can survive. At first they all get along but slowly everything changes. They turn in to savages and well to find out the rest you'll have to watch it. I would recommend this movie to anyone as long as they don't have a week stomach there is a few parts that are a little grusome but all in all its a great movie.

Summary: Lord of the Flies
Review: This movie truly disterbed me. I was horrified by it. It was probably a wonderful movie for those who look at the deeper side of it and the symbolism, but I found myself sitting in my history class trying not to cry. Many people probably appreciate this movie. I thought it might be good for me to say how I feel about the movie so I can stop thinking about it. I was bothered by this movie( I know I've said this). When Piggy died my classroom burst out laughing while I fought back tears. I don't recomend this movie to someone sensitive, like me. I saw this movie before I really understould it. In other words, teenagers, read the book first. I don't ever want to see this movie again.

Summary: a book is a book, a movie is a movie...
Review: I found the movie very well done due to the fact that the director had to deal with all of those kids! no, no I think that all of the boys did a fine job of acting their parts!! I loved the actors. simon, ralph, piggy, jack... I also enjoyed the book.. well written and great driscriptions. if you get a chance it is more fun to read the book first!

Summary: A Rip Off
Review: This movie is so radically different than the book that it's almost fraud to use the same title.

Simon, a major character in the book, hardly makes an appearance. Ralph, who gradually turns into a savage in the book, is a troublemaker from the very beginning in this story. They changed the interactions between the characters to the point that hardly anything they do even makes sense; it's just a bunch of random acts of violence by cardboard cut-out characters.

It's rated R mostly for language. If listening to ten-year-olds swear floats your boat, then this is the movie for you. If you want the same depth of character and meaning the book has, you're out of luck.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: If you're one of these sad youngsters who just can't abide watching a black & white film, then I guess this one's for you. Otherwise, there's no reason in the world to choose this over the far superior Peter Brook version.

Summary: Save Yourself Some Money and Buy the Book Instead
Review: When Golding wrote Lord of the Flies it was an instant classic. This movie is a very cheap imitation of that masterpiece. The acting is very bad and the plot cuts out many of the subtle nuances from the book. The utter inhumanity and brutality that were present in the book do not come across as well in the movie. The worst part about this movie was the fact that it changed the "beast" from human nature into an adult who wanders into a cave and dies. It gets a star because of the amazing camera shots. Buy the book and if you already have read it, then don't get this movie.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Marvellous.
Review: I first read the novel, and was amazed by Golding's work. But when I watched the movie, I was way more amazed. It's perfectly shown, 5 stars.

Summary: absurdly misunderstood and underappreciated
Review: a vastly more entertaining film than the overrated pomposity of peter brook's 1963 version, this film uses the book as a jumping off point, and refuses to fall into the trap of being a literary retelling. this is a movie, for heaven's sake, not a re-telling of a novel.

it also has the added advantage of a marvelous performance by the sadly obscure chris furrh as jack, the ringleader of the rebellious youth. master furrh manages to convey just the right sense of danger, combined with raw animal presence. how sad that he never again seems to have acted: what a loss!

if you are a frustrated english major, like many of the reviewers below, stick to the boring 1963 film; if you want to have the pants shocked off you by a MOVIE, try this out.
