Review: This movie is an absolute zero.Don't waste your time because there is no sense to be made of it.You keep wondering where it's going, then it goes nowhere. The ending made no sense at all,it doesn't matter how many times you watch it.I guess you're suppose to draw your own conclusion.Thank god i didn't buy this piece of crap.

Summary: disappointing
Review: I agree with the other negative reviewers. I'm fond of suspense movies with plot twists, but this one moved to slow, was weak in dialogue and the ending was unsatisfying. Glad I only rented it as well.

Summary: Dull and disappointing
Review: I heard this was a great erotic thriller. Maybe my expectations were too high. I found it rather dull and disappointing. I found nothing really suspenseful about the film at all. I never once thought either woman was in any danger from anyone or for what they did. The dialog and acting were good, I liked both leads, but nothing really captured me as being interesting or scary, or even that mysterious. I was disappointed at the end because I expected more. It never came. There is a load of nudity in this and some fairly bordering on hard-core sex scenes. That kept it a little more interesting. It was ok to watch once, but not something I'd watch again. I was more interested in how nice that house in France looked and how it would be nice to live there.

Summary: Sophmoric try at deception
Review: Wow!! So we have a writer who literally involves herself in her fiction. And then we have a guy who concocts a movie of it all and forgets that being boring can get in the way of any story. Momento-like? Not even close. Its obvious that for somebody the lightbulb went on after watching a double feature of The Usual Suspects and Mulholland Drive. But that's OK. Nothing wrong with borrowing a premise, reworking it, and throwing in some nice breasts. Just remember to hire actors who are capable of depth and dimension. And, this is important, avoid wasteing the viewers time with vacuous gestures. How many times do I need to see her put the liquor back in the cabinet. Ohhh, she's obsessed with order. Pleeease. The easily impressed will be impressed.

Summary: Intriguing
Review: I decided to rent this film after scanning thru the top sales here on Amazon. It looked interesting. After watching it, I am glad I did. Although some may find it slow and the ending irritating...I found it quite intriguing.
DON'T READ FURTHER IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE FILM!!!!!!!

Summary: What did the ending mean?
Review: I really liked the chemistry between the two actresses, who were terrific but can someone please explain the ending to me? Was the murder and all of Julie's antics in Sarah Morse's imagination as fodder for her book? When you see the young girl, Julia, at the end, it makes you question what was real and what was fiction. I thought it was really interesting though.

Summary: this movie just wasn't for me...
Review: I'm not exactly a fan of foreign films to start with, so this story seemed to have a strike against it to start with, but I thought, what the heck? The ONLY saving grace for this film was that there was a plot twist at the end. Too bad the time it took me to get to the plot twist nearly had me sleeping. The acting was fine, the script and pacing of the story made you feel like you were moving in slow motion. Non-linear stories don't bother me, as Tarentino movies seem to do it and not seem to have slow pacing (in fact Tarentino's non-linear storytelling seems to speed up the flick, as does Guy Ritchie's, though they're also a different style of writer than the writer of Swimming Pool).

This doesn't surprise me that the movie was in the $6.99 Dvd bin, as it seemed similar to any other B-movie "suspense-thriller" made in any other country. (Though I hardly found the movie either suspenseful OR thrilling)

Everyone's a critic and it looks like there's a lot of people who really enjoyed this flick. I wasn't one of them. If you like slow, "suspense-thrillers" that aren't really suspenseful OR thrilling, then, by all means, rent or buy and watch this movie.

Summary: Thank God I only rented this!!!
Review: I'm not sure if this the work of a David Lynch wannabe or what have you. As usual the French are light years behind the good old U.S. of A. when it comes to making a comprehendible movie. This movie made little if any sense, was not thrilling nor erotic and I'd like the last two hours of my life back. The only good news is that it will not sit in my collection of fine dvds. I just wish there was a way to warn more people.

Summary: Beautifully done movie with a lousy screenplay
Review: well, when you saw from the balcony that old gardener studied the suspicious newly digged ground, and in order to distract him, you showed your breasts to him and lie down naked in the 2nd floor bed, awaiting him to come up to do the consenting adult stuff? you'd be assured that he would never go back to the garden to investigate again? well, it's a plainly stupid logic by a supposed to be sophisticated MYSTERY writer. give me a break! well, if you finally decided to slap your old lover/agent/publisher, and sent the manuscript to other publisher and published it, and then walked out on him, you'd thought that you were still entitled to go back to his house in france? give me a break! at the very beginning, this is a such nicely shot movie, but then, well, i have to sigh a long long sigh, it gradually coming apart with ridiculous plot. this is typically what most of the so-called female mystery writers' poor logic that almost made 99% of their creations simple-mindedly naive and unreadable. if murders or man slaughters are so easy to write off just by showing your naked body, then most of the police detectives would not have to use labs and guns, just make sure their fly zippers won't get jammed during zip-downs. give me a break.
