Summary: One of my Top Ten Best Movies of all Time
Review: The Jackal is one of my favorite movies of all time because it relates to real world situations. Everything that took place in the movie can and has already been done. I am a rare viewer who believes that this movie is much better that the original The Day of the Jackal. I believe this way because of the acting and the story line. I like the non emotional pressence in the actors especially in this movie because it puts a more serious property into the film. In the first one the acting was off because at one point the movie was more serious than the next. And the pressence of technology never happened in the first one. There were many things and ideas they could have used at that time. But I liked the story line in both of them. I just believe that the pressence of technology boosted the 1997 version story into first place. After watching the Jackal there is only one flaw that I have discovered. It was that the movie tried to put too much information in a short period of time. I believe it should have been at least thirty minuets longer, then it would be more complete. I believe that Bruce Willis was the best in the movie. I think that this film was the first of Bruce's that actually called for perfection, accuracy, unique properties of the mind, and dark and deep emotions. It was a change from his original action pack movies with terrible catch phrases. I would rank this movie the third best of Bruce Willis. The first two are Unbreakable, and the Sixth Sense. The Jackal just called for a unique style of acting that called for no emotions which was great. It showed accuracy in events in history, and strategic commands. There is almost no flaw in its relation to history other than that he got caught.

Summary: The Film, 4 stars. The DVD, 5 stars.
Review: A Brilliant film gets an Impeccable dvd release in this collectors edition. Crystal Clear sounds and visuals, Stacks of Supplimentary Materials, (including an alternate ending, deleted scenes, Directors Commentary and makings of) and... Come On, it has Bruce Willis.. BRUCE WILLIS, How much more prompting can ya need.

Richard Gere and Bruce Willis "Face Off" in this Thriller, Gere plays and Ex-IRA Sniper turned Convict turned FBI Hound dog. He is believed to be one of the few people on the face of the Planet who can ID the Jackal, a Cold-Hearted Assassin who seems to have set his sights on the US Government. Bruce Willis plays the role of the Jackal with a straight face, but we can still tell he is having a ball with the role. Richard seems to be enjoying himself too, as should the audience as the action builds and builds leisurely and cleverly to an Awesome Showdown between the foes.

Great Supporting Cast, Swift Direction and all the required thrills are here by the Bucketload. A Great Piece Of Entertaining Action.

Summary: when is this ever going to end?
Review: why did this movie suck so bad? well that's what i asked myself through all two freakin' hours of this movie. it's simple actually. they took a premise and forgot to make it into a story. i never thought that assassinations could be so tedious, not to mention mind-numbing. i really couldn't have cared any less about any of the characters and i thought it was dumb how willis had to have a big gun to be cool. instead of this see 'the negotiator' or something cool.

Summary: The worst ending of a movie I have ever seen!!
Review: The movie was entertaining and the acting was good at least by Bruce Willis. The whole movie is about Willis building a remote control weapon for an assasination. So why does he stand in between the gun and the target when he could be 5 miles away? This ruined the whole movie for me. Maybe filmmakers should be more concerned with storyline than big actors and special effects to carry their film through. A better example of a movie remake with a real story would be the Fugitive with Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones. Maybe the director should look at this film more closely. Don't bother buying this film unless you like disappointing endings!

Summary: I was strangely impressed...
Review: The general concensus seems to be that this movie is a bomb, but despite the numerous plot holes I thought Bruce Willis was great. I'd even go so far as to say it is his best performance ever (yes, definately better than Sixth Sense), as the ice cold assassin who never makes mistakes. And that's where the movie falls apart: The Jackal drops hints, draws attention to himself unnecessarily, and has a risky assassination plan so elaborate that you wonder why he just didn't buy a sniper rifle and get it done quicker. But that's no fault of Bruce, and he does no wrong portraying a man who believes that nothing can touch him. It's interesting to note how his emotions start to slip through as he realises the odds are mounting against him, and in fact I was hoping that his plan would succeed and that he would kill Richard Gere and his annoyingly fake Irish accent. So, watch it if you want to see a really COOL (literally) performance by Bruce Willis, but if you're looking for an original or even coherant plot then maybe you should look somewhere else. Oh, and does anyone know where I can buy one of those guns? :)

Summary: One of the best action flicks ever made.
Review: Sure this movie doesn't fill itself with shoot 'em up, bang 'em up action like you might think.. but it's still one of the best ever made. Each character was developed well and the story was developed in a way that kept you interested throughout the picture. The only time you see action is when there needs to be action. The scenes were crafted in a way that they should have been. Granted a couple of them were far fetched. An example would be when gere sees willis at the docks.. It would be a million to one chance that that situation would happen realisticly. But, as i said, those types of scenes were few and far between.

Anyway, if you are looking for a great action flick with an actual plot that is interesting and has humor, then get this movie.

Summary: A little too stubborn and misplaced professionalism
Review: I didn't like Sydney Poitier in that movie. He was too distant.

Bruce Willis was good, though, but still, don't have to do much to be that kind of character...

Plot was good. A few very good violent scenes. That's about it for that movie.

Summary: Yes! Bruce Willis is surely a master!
Review: Of course this film will never live up to the original (excuse my lack of content the opening sentence, but i've never seen the original). It's already been deemed a masterpiece, and any remake or semi-remake to me isn't SUPPOSE to be as good as the prodocesser. It's a common fact of life, and one that will be taken very seroisly for my review of 1997's "The Jackal". Even though my knowledge of the first movie, "The Day of The Jackal" is limited, I know for a fact that their both VERY entertaining thrillers. Micheal Caton-Jones, to me, is a God at directing, and can be proven with the first few shots of the beginning...an artistic (and rather brutal) depiction of the downfall of Russia, aand then leading up to the deep humble voices singing comes the start of a Massive Attack song, which to this day I wish I knew the name of. Overall, the start gives a much needed "Bringer-Upper" for the rest of the films violent and relatively gory action scenes...this mood was, of course, intented by my Fellow Director. The film itself is pretty obscure character whise...Bruce Willis plays a very good villian (something that should be taken into consideration to thos Die Hard fans). Willis can act, and is a VERY talented actor. This also brings up Sidney Poietr, whos name I just spelt incorrectly. I don't know much about him, but he sure can act. Along with Gere's awesome Irish accent (very well done, Richard!) and Willis' menacing expression (which he upholds throught the entire movie). If you are a movie fan PERIOD, you must see this film!

Summary: Save Your Time
Review: Modern society is impatient and lacks the mental ability to appreciate many fine things. If you do not fit into MTV society, don't waste your time and see the original. Yes, the original is slower. But it is smarter. You don't have some stupid only some guy in prison knows the guy. Let's rip off the Rock a little more. Richard Gere's character was superfluous. The greatness of the original was that it was a cat and mouse, tense movie. This movie is fair at best. I wouldn't waste your time with this. There are much better, less trite, less predictable movies being made today.

Summary: Action packed thriller
Review: The Jackal is a great action movie, though some of my favorite scenes are more humerous than action oriented. Particularly a scene where Bruce Willis' character and another fellow test out a gattling gun. I thought that other fellow was absolutly hilarious and really made this movie for me. Unfortunatly with these older collectors edition movies, then tend to cost quit a bit more, but I think the extra cost is worth it. This movie has a lot of twists and turns for someone who hasn't previously seen it, but once you've seen it a couple times, it loses the shock value, and just becomes a cool action movie. This is definetly a movie I would recommend adding to your dvd collection.
