Summary: Entertainingly Awful, um, "Action" Flick
Review: Shameless in its ripping-off of the Indiana Jones movies, KSM is nonetheless a priceless addition to any Bad Movie Lover's video collection. Richard Chamberlain is about as convincing of an action hero as Stallone would be as Hamlet, Sharon Stone lets us know what kind of actress she was before she found Scorsese, and the script seems to have been written by a lobotomized ten year-old. Additionally, the stars have absolutely no romantic chemistry whatsoever, and the so-called special effects are about as realistic as anything Ed Wood ever inflicted on the world. Keep the rewind button handy when Stone gets to the line "There's a lot of smoke coming out the back, and there's some brown goop leaking out the side!"

Review: Shameless knockoff of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Preposterous script, terrible acting, laughable special effects, and offensive stereotypical portrayals of Africans. This movie is so bad it boarders on the comical. I believe this was Sharon Stone's film acting debut, and it is truly amazing she ever worked again. You have to see this movie to believe how truly awful she is. Shame on you Hollywood for producing such a hideous abortion.

Summary: Rather entertaining in the right state of mind
Review: The makers of King Solomon's Mines know it's an Indiana Jones rip-off and they take no shame or attempt to hide it. With that said I actually found King Solomon's Mines to be rather enjoyable. Sure it's cheesy and cornball, but some of the humor is hilarious. I found myself laughing outloud at many occasions. The film also has almost nonstop action. It just jumps from one action scene to another. Richard Champerlain gives a great tongue-in-cheek performance as adventurer Allan Quartermain. Sharon Stone is rather bad in her supporting role, but she's nice to look at. The first half of the film is actually for more enjoyable than the last half because some of teh situations get a little too outragions (I mean a giant spider...come on!) As long as yor not expecting Raiders of the Lost Arc and your open to take a trip with a really off-the-wall adventure, you might enjoy some aspects of King Solomon's Mines. Just make sure to steer clear of its sequel.

Summary: FUN - FAST-PACED - FUNNY- FANTASTIC!
Review: This movie is hilarious! Richard Chamberlain fans will thrill to watch their favorite actor as a comedian. In addition, to all the other roles, he has played to perfection, he can nail comedy, and in this film he delivers some very funny lines, in his dry, understated style. Half the fun for me, was watching him play against type, and laughing myself sick over his superb performance. He was not only funny, but the man was simply amazing, with the physical prowess of a 25 year old. He jumped over roof tops, swung from buildings and ropes, fell down waterfalls and mountains, hopped on and off and under moving trains, chased after a run-a-way airplane, and he was 51 years old when he made this film! He must have been exhausted. He is physically gorgeous as always, looking 20 years younger than his actual age.

He has terrific on-screen chemistry with Sharon Stone, who is sexy, and funny as Jessie Huston, his love interest and fellow adventurer. John Rhys-Davies plays Dogati, and as usual, is just sheer magic. He and Richard had the same great on-screen chemistry in Shogun, where Rhys-Davies played the wonderful Rodrigues. This movie has wonderful actors, is fun, funny, fast-paced, action packed, and has an exciting musical score, that greatly complements this delightful spoof.

You will laugh and laugh as Allen and Jessie fight Nazi's, cannibals, ferocious wild animals and reptiles, get captured by the upside down tree dwellers, thrown into a crock pot, saved from a pit of crocks, maneuver run-a-way airplanes and vehicles, and finally fall in love. They find danger, adventure, excitement, romance, and best of all they find KING SOLOMON'S MINE. If only the director of THE INDIANA JONES SERIES, would have cast the wonderful, versatile, Richard Chamberlain instead of Harrison Ford. Just think about it.....what if?

Review: This video was horrible!!!! I give it 2 thumbs down!!! Besides being an Indiana Jones ripoff, the dialogue was outrageously stupid. While being shot,whipped,drowning,or jumping out of a moving airplane the characters live!!! We can only pity poor Richard Chamerlain, he must cry every time he thinks about how they talked him into doing this vile movie!

Summary: This is the one good thing from an atrocious film.
Review: This was probably that last score Jerry Goldsmith did without using any electronics. Basically, it answers the question, "How would Jerry have scored Indiana Jones?" It's all here, with Goldsmith's personal flavorings and touches throughout. This is a good one to fill a spot missing in a collection. It was greast that this was re-released by Intrada, because it really is a beautiful, classy work, and once again makes you marvel at just how many terrible movies Goldsmith has made such good music for. Sadly overlooked; something that any fan of good music especially film and Goldsmith music fans) should have.
