Summary: Well, maybe next time
Review: Jet Li is a prolific Martial Artist. However, I don't see him teaching English in an American university. Likewise, American director don't need to make eastern style Martial Arts films. It's just not what we do well here. It's a decent script, good action, bad wire work on some of the stunts. They tried to go over the top with the action and effects. Typical Hollywood. Hong Kong stars don't need that kind of excess, they have talent.

Summary: JET LI's BEST MOVIE!
Review: This movie was great! I thought it would be like Black Mask or Fist of Legend. It wasn't.It was more like a romeo and juliet plus some martial arts. This a must see for Jet Li fans.

Summary: Fulfilment not complete
Review: This was a good movie, however it does not show Jet Li's fuill capabilities. Jet Li's stlye is given a twist which is a great new turn and he is even funny in this movie. Many actors act as comic relief which is a new turn in the Jet Li legacy. One thing this movie has that most of his movies do not have is a true, down to earth, plot. I recommend seeing this movie once. If you like it as much as I did you should buy it. Note: Vermont is a terrible substitute for Oakland.

Summary: Action Packed 'Romeo And Juliet'!
Review: This film offers great production design and admirable action sequences. It stars Kung Fu expert Jet Li in his first English-speaking role, he plays an escaped convict out for blood named Han (how original). The film also features the beautiful and promising Aaliyah as Li's love interest (Juliet, respectively) Aaliyah and Li have a kind of puppy-love chemistry that keeps the film above float between Li's fight sequences. All of the other supporting characters are one-dimensional and some performances are laughable. The fight scenes are amazing, the one where Li escapes from the prison and the last fight where they're surrounded by fire are highlights, also Li figured a way to get Aaliyah in a fight using her legs and arms to fight off a hostile female fighter because 'I can't hit a girl'. Overall delivers, but sometimes tries to hard. From a scale of 1-10 I give this film a 6!

Summary: Jet Li at his finest and Aaliyah is great!
Review: Romeo Must Die is one of Jet Li's best. He has charisma and charm. He has(as always) the best martial arts scenes. Aaliyah has a surprising and wonderful film debut. This movie had a good plot and wonderful acting. Especially, between the two leads Jet Li and Aaliyah. Their chemistry is instant and that is always the best kind. Romeo Must Die was also well directed and has good supporting players. This is what action movies should be. This is one of Jet Li's greatest, if you liked this check out Fist of Legend. Aaliyah chose the right type of role for her first movie. She proves herself to be a powerful actress and maks a smooth transiton for music to film. Romeo Must Die has it all Action, Romance, and Acting just sit back and enjoy!

Review: Romeo must die. What is that? A Shakespearean drama of a passionate hero condemned by fate?

Oh, no. One of the most opportunistic and mindless flicks of this year.

Im my opinion one Jackie Chan is quite enough for this world but the film's director is trying to make the clown's duplicate out of Jet Li. It pains me to see the actor I like so much having his try at the JackieChanesque grimaces.

Young singer Ayatollah (sorry if I've misspelled the name) does her best to look endearingly funky. Everybody's darling, always surrounded by adoring children. Her casual affair with the "kung fu guy" is very far from Shakespearean. Why they are ready to die for each other is a total mystery.

All the movie's blacks are gangsta hip-hoppers, swaying to the rhythm at the first appropriate notes streaming from any source. The girl's plump bodyguard proves his stupidity with every step he takes, but still is entrusted with increasingly important tasks. We have to be entertained by his inadequacy ad nauseam.

All the Chinese use every chance to practice the flying kicks - in such way they express their joy at seeing the long-lost friend, the anger at his treachery and the whole range of human emotions in between.

The scene in which Jet Li uses Ayatollah limbs to beat up Michelle Yo's lookalike could benefit from his using her head for greater comic effect. Or the director could use HIS head to stop looking for cheap laughs.

There is a lot of films the world would not be a bit different without and RMD is a worthy addition to their ranks.

Summary: THIS IS AN AWESOME MOVIE
Review: This was an awesome movie. I went to see it because Aaliyah is in it and she is my obsession. I expected a kind of watered down action movie, that was entertaining, but not great. BOY, WAS I WRONG. It is one of my favorite movies. Its got everything: sweet hip hop tunes, great action, and even a little romance.

Summary: Cool Action!
Review: Although, this isn't the best Jet Li movie I have seen, I can think of several at least that are better, like "Fist Of Legend", "The Bodyguard From Beijing", "The Taichi Master", "The Swordsman II", "The Master" and others, I do have to say I rather enjoyed this movie and it's a good introduction to the American audience to the skills of Jet Li, other than his villainous role in "Lethal Weapon 4", which I thought he played a 'good' bad guy. I was also glad to see Russel Wong in the movie, I haven't seen him in a movie since "The Vanishing Son" series. And who can forget him in "The Joy Luck Club". The only real problems I have in the film is the excessive use or rap music, not that I have a problem with rap music, but the producers didn't have to put so much of it. The other problem is the nudity at the beginning of the movie when two Asian girls were getting it on at the dance floor. I think it should of been left out because little kids probably wanted to see this movie. Other than the problems I have with the movie stated above, I think overall it's a good martial arts movie to watch.

Summary: Romeo Must Die -- Must See
Review: I was so excited about this movie, and really enjoyed it, too, but was disappointed by all the jerky cuts in the fight sequences and all the wire that was used. Also, for such a good setting, there wasn't much pathos or suspence. Still, a movie with Jet Li can't be less than good. Add Aaliyah, and its got to be great!
