Summary: LOOSE CANNON BOY SCOUT
Review: THE LAST BOY SCOUT is filled with the kind of throw away plot and sometimes clever dialogue of LETHAL WEAPON's Shane Black, and the over the top action sequences Tony Scott does so well. Add the eternal down and out cop, Bruce Willis, and you have the makings of a vile, but entertaining, thriller. Damon Wayans is miscast as the "buddy" of Willis. He doesn't look or act like a football player and his self-pitying monologues get repetitious and whiny. Danielle Harris as Bruce's daughter does a fantastic job, but what a foul mouth! Chelsea Field is lovely as Bruce's unfaithful wife. Halle Berry in her pre-Oscar days looks nice, but has the range of Suzanne Somers in this early role. Noble Willingham is effective as the football magnate; Taylor Negro is slimy as the head executioner, and Joe Santos does his gruff cop again for the billionth time. It's all set to some marvelous action pieces and some good one-liners. Willis' hero in this one is definitely not an idol, but the movie delivers what you expect.

Summary: One of the best Action Flicks of the 90's
Review: The last boy scout is one of the best action movies you are likely to see on DVD, if you want action then this is the ticket, not only is it a fantastic rollercoaster ride of an action movie, it is also one of the most hilerious and funny action films you are likely to see!

Let's face it, its was never going to win any oscars but the film is brilliant and very watchable time and time again which is an important criteria for any DVD purchase

The picture is fantastic as is the 5.1 dolby digital sound as it blasts out from every corner of the room, the disc is only let down by little extras but don't let that put you off, if you want to watch the movie BUY IT!

The best Action Comedy of the 90's

Summary: A big, loud, stupid piece of garbage
Review: The Last Boy Scout is the kind of movie indie fans point to when they bemoan the lack of quality in Hollywood films. It's a gratuitously violent, utterly offensive and sexist pile of trash that shows why Tony Scott should not be allowed to direct another film for the rest of his life (when Top Gun is the finest film you've ever done, it says volumes about your talent or lack thereof). Bruce Willis does his usual tough guy routine, Damon Wayans shows his usual bad taste in picking projects and the whole sordid mess reeks of idiocy from top to bottom. If you like foul mouthed kids, women portrayed as either philaderers or crackheads, lots of car crashes, lots of things blowing up and bodies flying around and tons and tons of gratuitous foul language with no intelligent dialogue to go along with it, then The Last Boy Scout is for you. If, however, you have even a little bit of taste, stay as far away from this clinker as you can.

Summary: Friday Night is a Great Night for Football
Review: There are two types of movies in this world. Movies that are for guys and movies that aren't. The Last Boy Scout definitely fits in the former category. It's as though producer, Joel Silver, and screenwriter, Shane Black said "Let's make a movie that red-blooded American males age 18-34 will enjoy. We'll need some babes, some comedy, a couple big name action stars, a good explosion budget, and what the hell, let's throw in some football."

This isn't a film that is going to go down in history as ground breaking. Bruce Willis is more exciting in Die Hard. Damon Wayans is funnier in Blankman. Lethal Weapon (also by Black and Silver) is a better action movie. And Halle Berry is only actually in about three scenes. But this is kind of a Jack-of-all trades movie. It's one of those action/comedy classics that you add to your video library on the shelf right next to Big Trouble in Little China.

The DVD features are nothing special. All the standard bells and whistles are there (multiple soundtracks, multiple sub-titles, scene access, widescreen and pan & scan versions). Special features include the film's trailer, as well as trailers for several other films. There's no director's commentary, behind the scenes footage, cast interviews or cut scenes, but there are a few rather informative productions notes. This isn't a disc you buy for features though. This is definitely a film you buy to watch.

All in all, it's a very fun movie. It won't stick out as an all time classic in any genre, but it is a fun flick for a weekend afternoon. There are several cameos by football personalities, constant witty one-liners, bitter scum-of-the-earth good guys and gentlemanly if effeminate bad guys. It's an action movie that you can watch with your girlfriend (well your tolerant girlfriend) just as easily as you can with your old college buddies.

Summary: Great Willis Vehicle
Review: This film is an action classic. Willis plays a great character (on par with the main character in Bad Santa, but with a gun and a bit more hung over). Wayans is at his most enjoyable, and thought the plot is simple, it makes for a great action movie.

Willis sells the movie with great one liners, and Scott does nice job filming the action. I know a black and white detective duo is passe in films, but if you like this genre of film, The Last Boyscout will deliver. It's well worth the twelve bucks.

Despite the bashing this film takes in Amazon's official review of this film, it is very entertaining. It is a simple and stupid action flic, yes, but to say it hates women and promotes voilence and profanity in teens is a bit harsh. I suppose you could argue those things about this film, but then you must denounce the entire genre of action films. It is no better or worse than any action driven, big budget, Hollywood picture. That review would hold more water if this was a PG film; if it's rated R, it seems a bit naive to critique its violence.

This is a fun film, worthy of a watch. I haven't seen this film in years, and I just bought it. I'm eager for it to arrive in the mail and will surely watch it several times. It ain't Shakespeare, but if you're a Willis fan and you've missed this one, pick it up.

Summary: Movie is Alright: DVD isn't Alright
Review: This is a very LOW quality DVD, but DVD's shouldn't be rated solely on the quality of the features and appearance. There is a closed caption for the entire movie, which upsets me. I don't like having to see the wording of the movie being written as it is said.

Now to the movie. It's very good except for a few insanely pointless scenes. It is funny on several occasions and vulgar on all occasions.

Summary: Willis and Wayans work well
Review: this is sorta like a spoof of Lethal Weapon but its great and theres lots of suspense and thrills along the way. though theres some parts that parents might not take. all in all the 2 leads deliver good parts. favorite part is when Kim Coates hits Willis and then Willis upchucks him in the nose breaking his nose and killing him, that was great

Summary: the best action film ever
Review: this is the best action film ever!!!!!! Even though it is the best action film it is also very funny. Bruce Willis and Damon wyanes are an awesome team. But, the movie is pretty vulgar (but thats one of the many things that makes it good). It has violence and a lot (a whole lot) of swearing. Joe (Willis) and his wife swear at each other all the time and even when they are saying there sorry to one another. If, thats not enough his 13-year old kid says every dirty word in the book. The main plot of the movie is a guy named shelley, an owner of a pro football team, and his crew are going to bribe senators to legalize sports gambling. But, they are afraid Senator Bainer won't vote for it, and are going to frame Joe (Willis)for his his murder. Jimmy (Wayans)comes in when they murder his girlfriend. He was a pro football player but got kicked out for gambling. A must see movie!!!!! Another great Tony Scott movie is True Romance.

Summary: The Last Boy scout says it best.
Review: This movie could easily slide right into the Die Hard series. Wow!!! Bruce Willis kicks butt again. A true action masterpiece, this should never be overlooked. If you are a Die Hard fan, then see this. I swear it is unbelievable. The one-liners are awesome, maybe a couple are a little corny, but what the hell. Damon Wayans is great too. Simply a must have.
