Rating: Summary: 3-D added no depth to this flaccid thriller. Review: A pregnant Great White shark swims into the man made lagoon of Sea World (which was designed and built by one Mike Brody) and begins knoshing on swimmers, all one of them. Not much else happens. The third film in the now dead in the water series appeared to be the worst it could possibly get, that is until Joseph Sargent dropped the Jaws The Revenge stinkeroo into theaters a scant four years later. Jaws 3-D is marred by slow pacing, poor effects, a terrible score, and a juvenile script. Connections with the first two films are slight, making me suspect that the references were last minute additions to an in name only sequel. A real low water mark.
Rating: Summary: The shark effects are great, but the movie isn't. Review: I've noticed a lot of comments claiming that Jaws 3 has terrible special effects, and it is somewhat true. The background effects for the underwater seaworld is simply horrendous, but the 35-foot great white, the movie's main attraction, is very well-rendered, probably better than any other shark put on film. However, the movie's biggest problem is the editing, which is really quite bad for a big-budget film with a rather large cast and crew. I'm not sure if it's Joe Alves' fault or if it's the editor who's to blame, but the movie features a lot of goofy transitions and never gains any momentum. It's also very slow-moving, and it probably has to do with the setting itself. Part of what made the first two Jaws effective was the wide ocean setting, it's a scary expanse and the fact that the shark could be anywhere was truly frightening. But in Jaws 3, the shark is confined in a very small space (when compared to the ocean) and it also swims slower than the people it's chasing after, killing any chance of thrills. There is one chilling scene, which is also a bit unintentionally funny. When one guy gets stuck in the shark's mouth, he gets gummed to death. Yeah, the thought of it is goofy, but actually seeing it happen and considering how torturous it is, it's a bit scary. The movie also stars Dennis Quaid and Lea Thompson in early roles, proving that any young actor can survive a critically trashed movie if they have the talent for it. That probably explains why I've never seen Bess Armstrong in another movie. ...
Rating: Summary: Bad in Theatres - Not Too Bad on VHS Review: I saw this in the theatre. The 3-D was not effective or very good. In fact, the 3-D was so bad I found it difficult to watch. On tape the film is not really that bad. It was to its credit that they did not follow JAWS (I) and JAWS II and they did try to come up with an original story. Dennis Quaid never gives a bad performance and he really helps this movie out. It's not a great film but it is enjoyable.
Rating: Summary: Good Scare Review: This Jaws movie is entertaining. The first two are better than this so called 3-D flick. It is a scary movie but it is as fake as King Kong. The setting is diffrent bacause its not on Amity its Sea World. This time Sean and Mike Brody are the stars of the movie. This movie is so much diffrent than the first two. Its just a little darker. I hate the part where the guy falls into the sharks mouth. This movie is a guarented laugh...and a little scare.
Rating: Summary: Jaws 3 Review: This is a good movie but kind of a fall from greatness. One thing I personally did not like about the movie was that they took the storyline away from Amity. It has all of the guts and bitten off arms and stuff like I expected. A good storyline, keeps you on the edge of your seat with laugh out louds and nail biting horror! I would reccomend you to either rent or buy this movie! Thanks for reading my review!
Rating: Summary: Hysterically Bad! Review: While the original Jaws had us glued to our seats in a state of sheer terror, Jaws 3 had us rolling around the floor laughing our little 3-D glasses off ! We snickered at a 35-foot piece of foam-rubber with ugly fake teeth and we howled at the so-called actors who took part in this honey of a film. Inept is too kind a word to describe the thespian skills of those who grace this glorified middle school production. I wonder if Mr. Gossett or Mr. Quaid proudly include this masterpiece on their resumes? Honestly, Jaws 3 is so hysterically bad that it's actually fun. No, it's beyond fun -- it's an outright blast! It's kind of like one of those horrid 50's flicks -- ya know, something like "Godzilla Ate the Blob and Tossed His Cookies on Tokyo". Truly one of the worst films of all-time, one which I'm proud to admit I've watched at least a dozen times, Jaws 3 gets funnier with each viewing. It must be seen to be believed!
Rating: Summary: Jaws loses some of his bite Review: I never thought I'd see the day when I would see a Jaws movie that I wasn't that crazy about. Well, "Jaws 3" did just that. This third time around, the ferocious great white shark that has earned a fearsome name called Jaws, is terroizing workers and visitors alike at Sea World, a popular aquatic park. As big of a fan as I am of "Jaws" and "Jaws 2," I couldn't even make myself like "Jaws 3" all that much. You might be asking why I think it's so bad, right? Well, really it's not THAT bad, but it's not that good either. I didn't like it much cause it doesn't seem to be related to the first two movies, the special effects are at their worst, and the kills aren't half as exciting or suspenseful as they were in the first two movies. Oh yeah, there's even different people this time around. Instead of it having Roy Scheider again, it has Dennis Quaid, Louis Gossett Jr., and several other newbies to the series. I recommend anybody who wants to own all the movies in the Jaws series to go ahead and get "Jaws 3," but for anybody else that just wants the best, get "Jaws" and/or "Jaws 2" and skip this third one.
Rating: Summary: Jaws in Sea World? Review: Actually I am a big Jaws fan as the many who has seen this. Many people say that this is the worst of the films. I agree to an extent because the music is not so terrific as the first and second and of course the visual effects are old. But actually this is my favorite Jaws movie above all. Its finally in a different setting than the first two. This was a treat for me because I love Sea World as well. Actually this film is what I would call Jaws's revenge, because in the movie Jaws has a pretty good size baby that the caretakers captcher and put it in a tank were it died in captivity. So then Mama got a little angry and took revenge.
Rating: Summary: 2 Thumbs WAY Down Review: I'm sorry, but I hate this movie. It's not scarey, the special effects were done to be seen in 3-D and look REALLY bad on a TV, the acting is substandard, and the plot is pretty dumb. If you're a Jaws fan, avoid this film. There is nothing here except an excuse to make a 3-D movie with a shark in it. One positive note for this film. It's not scarey so it's probably the best Jaws movie for kids
