Rating: Summary: not a sailor but I too am waiting for the DVD Review: I first saw this movie in the early 90s, on a plane ride from New York to San Fransicso. I happened to look up and fell in love with this movie. I've given my copy away to friends, twice but found I missed having this movie too much. So, I logged onto Amazon hoping to find a DVD version, but alas. I am not sailor, but I love this movie, the cinematography, the story, the inspiration. Watch this movie!
Rating: Summary: Cannot believe the DVD is not yet released! Review: For those of you who love to sail, for those of you who don't... for those of you who like great music, for those of you who want to learn about great music... for those of you who want to be inspired by the dreams and the dedication of a team, that left everything behind to achieve it's ultimate goal... to retrieve what was once yours and let go of... this is the movie that will become part of your soul.
Rating: Summary: WInd Review: PLEASE release this on DVD, I have worn out my VHS version!Possibly a silly plot but one of the best sailboat racing films ever made. The photography is outstanding and will excite even non-sailors. For racers, a must have!
Rating: Summary: DVD....DVD....DVD....DVD...DVD..please Review: This is one of the best movies of all time, the filming and music is topnotch. I want to get this movie on DVD but it is not released yet. I hope the studio will release this movie on DVD sometime. I will buy it as soon as it come outs
Rating: Summary: How much longer do I have to wait for "Wind" on DVD!?! Review: As a professional mariner (and aspiring professional sailor) I can truly appreciate this movie. I am also a huge America's Cup fan so I am appreciative even more. I can't wait to add this to my DVD collection of nautical films such as "Horatio Hornblower" and "Longitude". Okay, add "Jaws" and "Jaws 2" to that mix, too!
Rating: Summary: RELEASE THIS ON DVD Review: With absolutely awesome sailing scenes this movie will look fantastic on DVD.
Rating: Summary: For everyone who loves the water and America's Cup sailing Review: Mathew Modine and Jennifer Grey give outstanding performances of a young couple trying to find their way to each other along differing future paths that are bound by two ties...their love for sailing and love for each other. Cliff Robertson gives a compelling performance which leads Modine to fight for Grey by living out their impossible dream of entering a boat in the America's Cup and finding the common bond that will last forever in time and in their hearts. With a full bodied love story and spectacular sailing cinematography, Francis Ford Coppola combines the two to give full flavor to this marvelous love tryst. This true to life challenge will fully involve your emotions right up to the ending sequence.
Rating: Summary: If only it were me on those boats... Review: I loved the movie....and absolute best movie ever...If you like sailing...and have any interest in racing whatsoever, this is the movie for you. There are some amazing shots that capture the ezxsence of sailing...it makes you want to get out there and sail....great for a winter's evening. Admittedly the love story plot could have been a little better....but where that is lacking, the photography and sheer brilliance of the sailing shots make up. I had to buy a second copy of the tape....coz I wore through the first....There are some gorgeous shots of International 14's skimming through the water....there are some amazing shots of the twelves....they chose some great weather, great water and great boats to film a great movie. For those aerodynamics enthusiasts, this movie is the bomb...from the high tech of sailing to the use of the Piaggio Avanti as a bizjet, this movie is stocked with some good examples of how aerodynamics shape the world! Rent the movie, or better yet, buy the movie....cuddle up on a couch with your sig. other (if they don't get seasick) and enjoy the ride. It's true..."the only thing better than winning the cup is loosing it, and then coming back to win it!!" --loose quote....sorry Three thumbs up.... says ernie and biskit
Rating: Summary: Wind... An Awesome Sailing Movie Review: Being a fanatic of the America's Cup regatta, I personally found the movie "Wind" to be a well-crafted portrayal of this exciting, visually-breathtaking sport. From its stunning camera shots of the yachts gliding and chopping through the deep blue ocean to the emotional and physical intensity displayed by the sailors, the viewer feels like he/she is right in the middle of the action. The viewer also gains a better understanding of just how difficult it is to plan and finance an America's Cup campaign. And although some reviewers have mentioned that the love story is lacking in substance, I think it was intentional on the director's part because he wanted to focus more on the various elements involved in yacht racing. So if you enjoy movies with intense action and emotion behind beautiful scenery, then give "Wind" a try
Rating: Summary: DVD? Review: One of my favorite movies of all time. I can't believe the DVD version has yet to appear....please please please, we need the DVD. One of the most beautiful movies ever made set in the backdrop of two great yachting battles for the America's Cup. Yes, the love story is rather weak, but the intense competition and beautiful ocean backdrop more than make up for this weakness.
