Rating: Summary: Days of Chunder Review: This director has a lot to answer for! The only talking points this film offers people are: Is it/ Could it be worse than Top Gun? and What 22 year old is a neurologist, I mean please! Ideal for those who like playing with their stick shift.
Rating: Summary: It would be better if it wasn't like Top Gun. Review: To the point: -I don't like Nicole Kidman in this role -Loved the soundtrack score (Hans Zimmer is a legend) -Liked the camerawork and visuals (seems a trademark of Jerry Bruckheimer films- I really like them though!) -Can't believe Robert Towne was involved! -I do like Nicole Kidman in other roles though!
Rating: Summary: MUCH BETTER THAN "TOP GUN," BUT STILL FAIRLY WEAK Review: "Days of Thunder" is a much better film than "Top Gun," but the plot is still implausible and the screenplay (surprisingly written by "Chinatown" screenwriter Robert Towne) is weak and filled with holes right and left. Nicole Kidman does little else than stand around and look pretty. Tom Cruise plays the cocky loner again, and does little besides yell "Son of a *****!" during the racing scenes. Robert Duvall turns in another good performance, and the race scenes are fairly tense and action-packed. Film's biggest weakness is its director, Tony Scott, quite possibly the phoniest of them all. He tries to make the film look slick, but instead it mostly looks sloppy. Scott has the attention span of a 2-year-old child, and he obviously thinks the same of the viewers. Scenes typically last no longer than 2-3 seconds (if you want an even worse headache, check out Scott's 1998 travesty, "Enemy of the State," starring the worst actor alive, Will Smith). The score by Hans Zimmer and the guitar instrumentals by Jeff Beck are good, though. A few humorous scenes liven things up.
Rating: Summary: Top Gun on wheels Review: This is a barely passable racing film. If you call motorsports 'racin', and think racing is 'bumpin n rubbin', then you'll probably like this movie. Don't ask for too much in the plot, as it's a barely-masked derivative of Top Gun. The acting is typical of Cruise et al, but not close to being Oscar material. The racing scenes are more about the actors than the racing, with poor camera angles and overdone effects. If you want a true portrayal of motor racing in film, you must watch "Grand Prix" (1966, dir.:John Frankenheimer). Even though it's over thirty years old, it is still the best racing film ever made. It uses Formula 3 cars (mocked up as Formula 1 cars) driven by the actors at real speed on the real racetracks in the days before 'modern' safety equipment. The sweat, white knuckles, and clenched teeth are all real. No computer graphics here. And truly fantastic camerawork; setting the standard, as well as serving as a primer, for all TV and film cameramen covering racing from that point on. "LeMans" starring Steve McQueen is another, far better than Days of Thunder, racing movie. Not as good as "Grand Prix", but good nonetheless.
Rating: Summary: Bruckheimer Does It Again!!! Review: As if Bruckheimer's films; Top Gun, Con Air, Bad Boys, and Armageddon weren't enough of a good ride, the super producer has finally brought the Tony Scott directed stock car racing epic, Days of Thunder to DVD. The best car race footage and sound effects ever, and absolutely awesome direction by Tony Scott (Con Air and Top Gun), this movie set new standards for performance in action movies. A must see, and just a suggestion, rent any other movie ever produced by Bruckheimer if you liked this one, you won't be disapointed!!
Rating: Summary: Top Gun Part 2? Review: Worth seeing, but if you saw Top Gun then you have pretty much already seen Days of Thunder. Cruise hot dogs in his stock car, has a female doctor friend, competes against a jerk, and, after a crash, has trouble "getting back in the saddle". Sound familiar?
Rating: Summary: The Essence of NASCAR Review: I love this movie! The racing action (which is not exactly like stock car racing) captures the intensity and speed of any NASCAR event. This action paired with an awesome soundtrack is what got me so excited. I just wish the Spencer Davis Group song, "Gimme Some Lovin'", was on the soundtrack along with the other songs. Again, I would encourage anyone to see this flick.
Rating: Summary: I just want to say: MEGA DOUBLE WHAOW !!!!! Review: I have been a Tom Cruise fan for years now (since Top Gun) and i think this movie is AWESOME ! Well, i must say that i find the story really dumb, but once you get to the race scenes, it kicks a** ! the Hans Zimmer Soundtrack is unbelievable (the opening sequence is a must "hear & see"), and the races shooting could not be better. Believe me, buy this movie, you won't regret it. Just do like me, switch the light off, put your amp to the max and ... ENJOY ;)
Rating: Summary: The Best Summer Movie Review: I saw this movie last summer and i watch it every day. The movie has Action, romance, and SPEED in it. So if I were you I would go out right now and rent this movie or even buy it because it is definitly worth it. It is one of those movies that doesn't need a sequal!!!!
Rating: Summary: To the makers of Days of Thunder Review: The movie is the movie to watch. It is the best movie i have ever seen. i have seen it over a million times. The romance, action, and speed makes the movie good because it has all of those things in it which makes it awesome. So if you have a chance go and see the movie and it is even better if you have your own surround sound. So put your seatbelt on and get ready for the ride of your life.
