Review: the plot has been explored by recent reviews. about the cast... how can you have Nicholas Cage, Angelina Jolie and Robert Duvall and come up with this piece of moviemaking? it's really incredible! the story could work but the movie itself doesn't. Angelina Jolie barely appears, the special effects sure are nice if you believe that a car can fly... «Bullitt» with Steve McQueen is the real deal- it has the best car chase, a realistic one, that is. With a very similar car, too. (Ford Mustang). Now they have technology, great. But like it's used in this movie it doesn't work at all. Being an Angelina Jolie fan i'm terribly disappointed- what is she doing in this film!?

Review: The trailor gives much more credit to the movie than it deserves! And for great actors such as Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie, this movie should have been much better than this!

So what makes this movie not as good as it should; 1. Lack of on going action until the last quarter of the movie! 2. Lack of modern expensive fast cars. 3. Lack of cars action except for one classic at the end. 4. The jump of 1967 Shelby GT 500 Mustang was an insult for audience intelligence. 5. Nice story but not well covered!

Do not expect too much of this film!

Review: Gone in sixty seconds disappointed me to some extent but I can't say that it was awful..

I hadn't seen the original "cult" movie dated 1974,but I had heard a lot of good things about it..The cast for the new version was great and I was especially happy that Nicolas Cage,one of my favorite actors,was playing Memphis Raines,the lead character.The listed cars to be stolen by our thieves were real beauties and they alone were a sufficient reason for me to like the movie..Well,at the end,it turned out to be the case,as they were one of the few good things about the movie..

Here is the simple plot..The young brother of the legendary car boost Randall "Memphis" Raines and his crew make a deal with a mobster and agree to steal some cars for him..Things don't go right and they mess it up..The mobster,an italian nicknamed "The Carpenter",holds young Kip Raines hostage in order to convince big brother Memphis Raines to do the job..Memphis,who had quit the city and "boosting" cars some years ago,reluctantly agrees and gets his crew back together in order to steal 50 rare and expensive cars in 3 nights...

The movie could have been good if only the script was a bit heavier and the characters were better developed.My guess is that Bruckheimer,the producer of the movie and the big audience entertainer,decided it would slow the movie down.But I should also note that altough the final big chase was quite entertaining (somehow I have the feeling the big chase in the original film was better),that's almost the only car chase in a movie you expect to include a lot of.I was under the impression that from the moment Memphis agrees to do the job,all the script did was to prepare us for the big final show.

The actors did a pretty job altough I don't think they had to spend too much effort for those "weak" characters they played.Nicolas Cage was fun to watch and Angelina Jolie was strange looking in blonde hair.But my favorite actor was Giovanni Ribisi in this movie.(Kip)

The DVD includes a nice amount of extras and the picture and sound quality are great..

I give this 3 stars because of Nicolas Cage and some nice scenes here and there..If you are looking for a movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat or a movie with surprises,you probably won't like this one..If you are looking for lots of car chases,again you may be disappointed.If you are just looking for having a nice time and have a wild ride,then I suggest you to try Gone in 60 seconds..

Review: This movie was better at home on DVD than in the theater. I didn't think much of it until I got it for christmas and sat back at home and let it rip.

Summary: DUDE! WOW! A MATERPIECE!
Review: DUDE! This is an awesome movie. It's got everything action, comedy and suspense! I love all the antique cars like the Ferrari's and the Shelby GT 500. Nicolas Cage rocks in this thriller. All the speed and action and that cop who's always trying to bust Cage. This is by far the greatest movie I have ever seen. And DVD makes the car reving outrageous! I have seen some awesome movies with great graphics but this beats them by a mile. Gone in 60 Seconds is a wild ride from beginning to end! There is action in every scene. And the music is great too. It has Moby and he rocks in the opening credits. Buy this movie. It's worth every penny!

Summary: Good Movie...Cage Needs More Sleep
Review: When I first went to see "Gone In 60 Seconds", I had never heard a word of it in previews or word-of-mouth. I never liked or could sit through any Nicholas Cage movies until this one though. Cage plays a rather lathargic Randall Raines, a reformed car theif who is unwillinglly drawn back into his old profession to save his younger brother Kip (The Wonder Years' Giovanni Ribisi) from death. Kip takes a car boosting job for the meanest car-theft ringleader in town (A part which even I could've played better than this guy), and faces the ultimate price for mistakes. To keep the big boss from killing his brother, Cage must round up old collegues to pull off the biggest boost of their lives. Some of his partners in crime include Angelina Jolie, Robert Duvall and my favorite...Vinnie Jones as The Sphinx. Each with his/her own special tallent, they work at moving 50 cars in 2 days to save little Raines. The one thing that kept the movie from running out of gas at the box-office I think, was the fact that they went in-depth as far as methods of boosting the cars...instead of knocking on someone's door and stealing the keys from the kitchen table. And there's a lot of laughs along the way that keep it from seeming like a re-run of CHIPS. Up-beat comedy makes the movie a lot better than it could've been, my favorite part was Nicholas Cage taunting a seriously ghettoed-out rival theif from inside a diner who was out kill him. The movie does have a few corney scenes that were obviously forced by a nerdy director...but the action, the laughs, and all the new stuff you learn about stealing cars these days is what makes it a good pick for me. I think this movies' like alcohol though, if you get in a car after it youre gonna feel like driving like a maniac. Nicholas Cage deffinately hits a mark with this one.

Summary: Another Jerry Bruckheimer MegaBucks Experience
Review: Cage is the only reason to see this movie. I recently watched two Cage movies, Face/Off and this one. Face/Off is the better of the two hands down. Most Bruckheimer films look like gaudy dressed up movies with simple, linear plots with an ending you can predict about 30 minutes into the video and this is no exception. this was a horrible movie. Lets put it this way. Face/Off=Evian, 60Secs=a Glass of distilled water.

Review: Gone in 60 Seconds shows what's wrong with Hollywood these days. Last summer, most of the pure action films were bombs. Yes, there were entertaining efforts like M:I-2, but we mostly got dreck like Gone in 60 Secs. The problem with the movie is, it doesn't have any idea how to deal with its pace or how to give its audience the much needed excitement of a great car chase.

Take Mel Gibson/George Miller's Mad Max and its sequel, The Road Warrior. There's an inherent grittiness and realism to it that makes it all the more effective. Gone features one 10-minute long chase sequence that is so unbelieveable I couldn't help but laugh. The Road Warrior features a 15-minute chase that features some of the most spectacular stunts ever put onscreen and is at least a dozen times more intense than what director Dominic Sena has done with his whole film.

Review: Gone in 60 Seconds is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Since I am a car lover, I enjoyed it all the more. The '67 Shelby Mustang at the end is about enough to make anyone drool. Gone in 60 Seconds is an awesome movie! Check it out!
