Summary: Entertaining stab at familiar story by Disney!
Review: This is at least the seventh film version I have seen of the "The Three Musketeers" and there have been more in the years since it was made (1993). As such I don't think it pays to compare it to the much better and much worse films made over the years.
Disney did a nice job updating this film for its intended audience. Although the acting doesn't compare to Richard Lesters version it wasn't bad either. Rebecca Demorney is especially good gracing the film with her cool beauty. Chris O'Donnell was a little to over the top in a few scenes, but he was the cute teen idol of the day and his natural charm is hard to dislike. I also disagree with the reviewer who thought the King and Queen were to young and inexperienced. They made an adorable couple and Julie Delpy as the lady in waiting was an unexpected bonus. The beautiful shooting locations of Schoenbrunn Palace in Vienna and the forts in Germany add considerably to the cinematography. Overall a very nice effort along with a great song by Bryan Adams, Sting, and Rod Stewart.
The DVD is fine as far as it goes. The music video for "All for Love" is included. The "featurette" highlights some of the key points of the film, but I was left wondering why the films trailer wasn't also included, or at least a TV spot/commercial for the film? Also, while the widescreen is my preferred format, considering how short the film is, I was surprised the fullscreen edition wasn't included as well. A running commentary or some interviews would have rounded out this release better, but considering the reasonable price (especially for Disney) its still a good deal.

Summary: Awful, but fun to heckle, so I'll give it two stars
Review: What can I say? Obviously I disagree with many other reviewers here.
1) The dialogue is terrible. When we realized just how bad this movie was going to be, we took turns guessing what the next line of dialogue would be.
A lot of cliched lines from other movies are in this one.

2) The main characters oscillate between stupid, sleazy, and bland. Except for some pasted on quirks or mannerisms, the four musketeers are all alike. Tim Curry was fun to watch "chewing scenery" to try and make up for the really bad script.

3) The swordplay [stinks]. The guns used by the heroes are absurdly accurate. The costumes and hairstyles of the four musketeers make them look like English Puritans. The 1974 version of Three Musketeers did a much better job. Or the Lord of the Rings movies.

4) The plot [stinks]. The Cardinal, a known Francophile, plotting to betray France to England, and thinking he could get away with it ?! The villian declaring before a crowd of others that he's going to have the King killed. A silly "you killed my father" subplot that feels it was taken right out of Empire Strikes Back. I could go on.

Anyways, you may find, like other reviewers, you really like this movie. I found this movie best viewed with friends with a sense of humor. It would make a great MST3K target.

Review: The cast seems ludicrously out of place in this movie--only Anwar is partially believable and her part is slight.

If you wish to see an interesting an authentic three musketeers, look for AISN B00006LPC5 , a 1972 version that is incredible.

Summary: An entertaining hour and a half!
Review: This film has everything you need for a nice, sunday afternoon movie, action, adventure and some nice-looking men(for the men there are good-looking women too).Chris O'Donnell is the wide-eyed innocent,D'argtanion. But the performance of the film has to go to Keifer Sutherland, who plays the brooding, mysterious Athos. That man is magnificent,he nails Athos to a tee,and was exactly how he was written in the book, the quiet, but respected leader. The film's stars all seem to play their roles well, although the 5 stars weren't awarded due to the story not being similar enough to the book. There is no dramatic scenes after Constance's death (in the film she is not killed),the scene where the Countess De Winter is killed is too short and the film itself lasted just 1 hour and a half.I am yet to see the 1979 version but it will be interesting to see whether Oliver Reed can top Keifer's performance as I have never seen a better Athos.A very enjoyable watch!!!

Summary: Not the book, yet still a great movie!!
Review: I must agree with everyone who wrote reviews on this movie that it is not at all like the book by Dumas, but I don't think that's a good reason not to like this movie. It's lots of fun and has plenty of action and adventure. And I think that's it's not only great for kids but for teenagers and adults alike.

Here's the summary of "The Three Musketeers". Chris O'Donnel is D'Artagnan, a young, brash, proud, yet courageous 'kid' whose only dream is to become one of the king's musketeers. But when he gets to Paris, he finds that the musketeers have been disbanded by the young King Louis's (Hugh O'Conor) evil Cardinal, Richelieu (Tim Curry). But three musketeers who are the best of friends, Athos (Kiefer Sutherland), Aramis (Charlie Sheen), and Porthos (Oliver Platt), are suspicious of Cardinal Richelieu and his henchman Rochefort (Michael Wincott). D'Artagnan is put in jail for fighting the Cardinal's guards with the three musketeers. Though he tries to escape yet fails, he is able to overhear the Cardinal's plan to take over the throne, building an alliance with the Duke of Buckingham by way of a special courier, Lady DeWinter (Rebecca De Mornay). And before D'Artagnan is executed, Athos, Aramis, and Porthos rescue him and together set out to stop Richelieu's spy. They do intercept her, finding out that Lady DeWinter was actually Athos's wife, whom had betrayed him and him sending her away. At the last moment they find out that the Cardinal is planning to have the king assisinated on his birthday. The four men return as swiftly as possible to Paris and with the help of all the musketeers, stop Richelieu.

As I said, though this movie has plenty of funny and humorous parts, it still has plenty of action and adventure, with a touch of romance here and there. The fighting is really good, and the acting was terrific, especially all the three musketeers, Tim Curry, and Michael Wincott. I love the endless little 'extras' Porthos always has with him!

An enjoyable film which is very entertaining! I also recommend for you to watch "The Three Musketeers" which was made in the early 1970's.

Summary: I love this movie...
Review: I can't found words to express how much I like this film...it's amazing the work of the actors, the script...everething!!!.
This is a new version of the classic tale by Alexandre Dumas, on an excellent Disney scale, with Charlie Sheen (Aramis), Kiefer Sutherland (Athos), Oliver Platt (Phortos), Chris O'Donnell (D'Artagnan), Tim Curry(Cardinal Richelieu) and Rebecca De Mornay.
This story is about a attractive teenager called D'Artagnan that want to become a Musketeer, but when he arrived to the place where the musketeers used to be, he realaised that they are not more musketeers, that was because the cardenal had disolved them.
In not very common and diferent conditions he met three musketeers that late, will be his friends.
This is a great film.I saw it at least three times. And I am not regreat. You will found that this film is excellent. And what's more, it's a classic, no??. "ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR ALL" who don't know this famous sentence??.

Summary: Very good
Review: Read the book. This movie captures the spirit of D'Artagnan, Athos, Porthos and Aramis. Not very faithful to the story, but a very interesting and amusing script nonetheless.

Cardinal Richelieu is not bad, but could be better, one minor fault... perhaps a bit too funny. The major fault in the movie is without doubt the king and queen. I mean.... the queen is not bad.. very beautiful.. but VERY YOUNG.. and the king besides being VERY YOUNG is VERY PATHETIC.. i mean... well.. lets just say he gives me the nerves.

Besides that, all the other characters are well portraied, Rochefort is great and Mylady played by the beautiful goddess Rebecca de Mornay is perfect.

A very entertaining movie, maybe the best 3 musketeer movie so far and about time too.

Summary: A feel good family movie
Review: I've loved this movie since it first came out. It was one of those movies that had enough of everything to keep anyone entertained. There's a little romance, some mystery, and a lot of action. And, it's appropriate for almost any age group, which makes it an ideal family movie.

My only complaint with the DVD is it's lacking in the special features. There's nor delete scenes nor trailer, and the only two extras are the music video for the theme "All For Love" and a featurette. I can excuse the lack of deleted scenes because the movie came out in 1993, and studios seldom keep the scenes for that long. I do with is had a trailer though.

Summary: All for one and all for fun!
Review: A favorite in our house, this movie offers something for everyone. Disney outdid themselves when remaking the classic Alexandre Dumas story. It's been done so many times and very well, but this one was just so much fun.

The line up of actors for this film is quite incredible. The starring cast consist of Keifer Sutherland, Charlie Sheen, Chris O'Donnell, Oliver Platt, Tim Curry, and Rebecca De Mornay. Not only was the cast incredible, the title track All For Love is performed by Sting, Bryan Adams, and Rod Stewart. Can you imagine the cost of making this movie today?

This movie resonates the very essence of Action Film. The fighting, racing horses, and dueling almost never end. Did I mention this was an action film? The violence in this film is more by implication than gruesome portrayals of death and fighting.

Add to the action a high dose of comedy. Oliver Platt is hilarious as Porthos. Tim Curry adds whit and humor to the evil character of Cardinal Richelieu.

The Three Musketeers was filmed on location in Europe which adds a believability that allows the viewer to be swept away into the story. Thousands of extras, hundreds of horses, and beautiful costumes and photography combine to make this a fantastic movie you could watch over and over.

Summary: Great Movie
Review: I think The Three Musketeers is a great movie. It's funny, clever, packed with action, and romance. With a cast of Kiefer Sutherland, Chris O'Donnel, and Charlie Sheen, you can't go wrong.
