Summary: This is the best yet!!!!!!!!
Review: As a kid I remember falling in love with Labyrinth. Who could ever forget David Bowe!? Wow, to this day I still try and get my finacee to dress up like that for Halloween. That has to be one of the greatest movies in the world. This is also a great soundtrack, keeps me going in the car..."... You remind me the babe, what babe? the babe with the power.. what power...."

I would love to recreate that party ball scene with the masks, and her amazing huge ball gown. I really love the looks of that part. I think that maybe on year for Halloweeen I will have a party and that will be the theme. It is amazing. I just plain love it!

PLUS YOU GET THE DARK CRYSTAL???!?!!?!?

WELL.. what all can i say about that movie? Well that this has to be the best combo deal EVER! I love the bird things in this movie. How they all fight for the power!

FIZZIGG <-- that little dog things!! HE IS MY Favorite!! How he chases that guy around. It is so funny. I love when he first meets the dog, and it crawls out of the log.

This movie reminds me a little of the Fifth Element. Esp. those huge dragon/ things.

If you are looking for the greatest set of all time I really suggest that you get it! I think that this is some the Muppets/Hensons BEST WORK! I wish that they would create more movies like this!

Jessica :)

Summary: Frank Oz & Jim Henson : The Ultimate Leaders in Fantasy
Review: Frank Oz & Jim Henson are genuises! The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth are the top 2 fantasies of all time. I mean, who wouldn't want to be Jen, a boy who risks it all to save the love of his life, or Hoggle, the old dwarfed gatekeeper of the Labyrinth? These 2 movies were made just so you can wish you were part of them! My favorite out of these two is Labryinth, though. Jennifer Connely did a fine performance as Sarah, a girl who wishes her baby brother into the hands of the goblin king, thinking nothing of it. Only to have it actually happen. She then must find her way through the Labryinth to rescue her baby brother. This movie could not have been made with Jim Henson's characters. Such as Hoggle, Ludo, and the very loveable, fast-paced Sir Diddimus. These 2 movies will gone down as classics.

Summary: Two of my all time favourite movies in one DVD boxed set.
Review: Having grown up with movies such as Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal has shaped into the person I am today and developed my great love of the fantasy genre. A great lover of all the work of Jim Henson, these movies were also my introduction into the beautiful fantasy artwork of Brian and Wendy Froud (...)

Summary: great movies
Review: I recommend getting both of these movies, or at least renting them! The first time I watched The Dark Crystal was when I was a little baby:)..I went to see this movie when it first came out in movie theaters, I think I was 3 or 4? Anyways, I watched it again when I was older..but my dad always liked to tell me when I first watched this movie, I sat on his lap and everytime the evil lizard-like birds came on or those big beetles came on the screen I would take his hand and cover my eyes.lol (of course, I don't remember much..but I do remember being scared of those two characters!) But it has always been one of my favorite movies! It's a great fantasy movie. (The Last Unicorn was also one of my favorites, which I also recommend!) So, if you have younger kids...be warned, it IS scary for the younger kids! But it is still a movie that I recommend watching!
The Labyrinth is also a pretty good movie too. It's about a girl that has to save her baby brother from the goblins and the goblin king so she goes to this really cool world to save him, meeting really strange and weird characters along the way too..I can't really explain why I loved those movies as a kid, i just did!..everything seems so interesting and the whole world is different and exciting..especially when you have talking animals of course:)

Summary: Two Immortal Classics
Review: If you have never seen either of these movies I honesly feel sorry for you. Jim Henson was a genius and only now that I am older am I truly beginning to realize what his work meant to me as a child, and now as an adult. It's like losing him all over again when I see these movies, but a little pain is so worth the joy. These DVD's have some very cool extras as well. I was fascinated by the Dark Crystal especially, there are a lot of deleted scenes where apparently they were going to do everyone in separate languages and have the movie subtitled. I imagine the decided against this because the movie is for children and they didn't want to have parents reading the movie the whole time. Who knows for sure, but that's a good a reason as any. These movies are not muppets. Oh no. They are groundbreaking films in that they show what could be when imagination is unleashed and knowns no bounds. We take a trip into two worlds that challenge our very thought about what is sane, and what is truth. These movies will never lose their magic to me. Years from now when movies are 3D wrap-around surround sound. I will show my children these movies, I will make sure they appreciate their brillance and I hope if you do not buy these that you take time, to go back to time in your life when it seemed like anything was possible and realize, it still is. I miss you Jim, God do I miss you. . and God Bless Frank Oz.

Summary: Two "must haves" for any video collection
Review: Labyrinth seems to be suited more for a younger audience than The Dark Crystal. There is singing, dancing, amusing sidekicks, a simple plot, and even some lessons learned. Still, this movie is popular among all age groups, even if to poke fun at some of the dramatics.

The Dark Crystal is a classic good against evil tale. Though it uses puppets, the theme is darker and more violent than Labyrinth. I've watched younger kids close their eyes, or get scared during some of the "scary" scenes. I think what's great about this movie is that it keeps on moving, you're never stuck in the same place for too long, as the characters are always on the go.

This collection presents two movies that are similar only in the fact that puppets are used in both. Based on your age, the mood of each movie will vary greatly. Still, these are great films, and classics that will be around forever.

Summary: Superb movies, flawed package
Review: Packaging this wonderful pair of Henson creations together is a great idea and a natural way for fans to save on both movies at once. However, it looks like whoever designed the set slipped up by changing the material included on each DVD.

Plenty's been said about both movies elsewhere on Amazon.com and on the net, almost all of it positive. Labyrinth is a fantastic film, visually outstanding, great characters, good music, and a decent plot; enormous fun for (really) all ages. You'd expect no less from the collaboration of three of the great creative minds of our time--Jim Henson, George Lucas, and Michael Moschen (the only juggler to have received a MacArthur Foundation "genius" grant). And then there's David Bowie, who makes an astonishingly effective Goblin King.

The Dark Crystal is cut from a different mold. It's much darker in tone, for starters, so it may not be appropriate for small children. Brilliant visuals--no humans appear at any time in the film; instead you'll see some of the most innovative puppetry out there. The creators define a truly rich fantasy world, detailed in every respect; one of the best scenes to watch for is where the camera just pans across a landscape of alien flora and fauna.

HOWEVER, if you're going for DVD, it may be preferable to buy the two movies separately. One of the best things about the versions released individually is the extras they include--deleted scenes, making-of specials, etc. At the time of this writing, there's no indication that this two-disc set includes any of that extra material; and according to an Amazon.com customer service representative, "It appears that the "Dark Crystal/Labyrinth" two-disc set does not contain the same deleted scenes and/or special features as the Special Edition discs, for sale individually."

So my recommendation is: get these movies, they're worth getting. But if you're interested in the bonus material--and it's worth being interested in--stick to the individually released DVDs rather than getting this package and missing out on the extra content.
