Summary: A definite pick for the "hard core" Kung Fu fan.
Review: If you grew up in the US or Canada you might remember watching this film on Kung Fu Theatre. You may also recall that on Sunday afternoons the only other choices were Lawrence Welk or Disney. This classic has all the ingredients of a great marital arts film; engaging plot, superhuman powers, extended fight scenes and bad dubbing! Buy this film before the animated version comes out or worse Van Damme remakes it.

Summary: Kung fu fans, this is the real thing!
Review: Perhaps the best kung fu flick ever from Shaw Bros. Which is unusual, since it was the first in many flicks to follow starring the same main characters known as the Venom Boys. Exciting plot, awesome fight choreography and strong character development make this a must have for martial arts fans. This is a movie you can watch over and over.

Summary: This film is one of the best kung fu films I've seen.
Review: Like the films of Jackie Chan or the late Bruce Lee, this movie actually has a story line that doesn't appeaar to be to far out. With action that is believable and effects that can be taken as part of the story line. Which makes the movie more believable then other martial arts movies that I've seen.

Summary: 5 Deadly Venoms - The film which knocked Kung-Fu fans out!!!
Review: Shaw Brothers Movie Studios director, Chang Cheh's 1978 tour-de-force Kung Fu extravaganza. This film set the stage for nearly 20+ more movies starring the 'Venoms' to follow in an attempt to quench the world-wide thirst of fans of this, the first 'Venoms' movie. Long out of print and only found in the possession of private Kung-Fu film collectors, the current commercially available VHS of 'The 5 Deadly Venoms' by EPI, is struck from a good quality master print, and is uncut and formatted in LBX (letterbox), which is a real treat to Kung Fu movie fans. The story centers around the last student of the dying master of 'The Poison Clan', who is sent out to find the last 5 secret members of the clan, all of whom have trained in a special 'Poison' technique. Some of the clan members have gone bad, and the student must locate and destroy them with the help of good members, if he can find them! The script, acting, choreography, costumes, and sets are fantastic. This film combines bare-chested Kung-Fu supermen back-flipping through the air while weilding exotic Chinese weapons and performing unbelievable feats of physical strength, skill, and speed, with a twisting plot of deceit, revenge, and corruption; all against a fantastic & deadly 14th century backround. The 5 Deadly Venoms stars Kuo Chui (Lizard), Sun Chien (Scorpion), Lo Meng (Toad), Wei Pai (Snake), Lu Feng (Centipede), and Chiang Sheng as 'Yan Tieh', the last disciple of the Poison Clan master. A 'Must Have' for any Kung Fu movie fan as The 5 Deadly Venoms is truely an all time classic.

Summary: I love it!!IloveitIloveitIloveit!!
Review: I too saw this movie on tv one rainy afternoon(as a kid). I was instantly obsessed! My fave character was/is the Snake. Over time the details grew hazy, but about 15 yrs later I finally bought a copy--I was so psyched to finally see it again. It was all I remembered it to be, with the added grownup pleasure of checking out cute cute men. I watched it every day for about a month. I agree that this isn't the best Shaw Bros. movie, and definitely not the best Kung Fu movie ever, but 5DV has this strange indefinable quality that defies criticism--maybe something about the weird haunting music or the iron maiden. . .you will NEVER forget it, YOU WILL FALL UNDER ITS SPELL. . . .!!(ps, Yes I am a nerd!!)

Summary: FINALLY!!!
Review: I saw this movie as a child and I think one of my friends decided to steal it from me after I taped it from kung fu theater. I finally found the greatest kung fu flick out there. It has been years. If you haven't seen it you need to stop what your doing and see it!!!!!

Summary: This movie is 'da bomb!
Review: I saw this movie as a little kid on TV on day and I have been looking for it in video stores ever since. I recently found it at a shopping mall and bought it. I was excited to bring it home and watch it. I was just as excited to watch it as I was when I was a child. Never ending excitement and suspense. The action scenes are the best! Bruce Lee look out because this movie (although not quite as good as Bruce Lee's) will give even THE MASTER himself a run for the money. I recommend this movie to anyone who is looking for a good kung-fu flick.

Summary: The toad style is immensely strong...
Review: This is THE saturday afternoon Kung Fu theatre flick of all time!! Definitely one of the best, if not the best Shaw Bros. film ever. Definitely a must have for any fan of the genre. Although it is another great flick starring the "venom mob", don't be fooled by "Return of the Five Deadly Venoms"- it's actually a Shaw Bros. movie called "Crippled Avengers" aka "Mortal Combat". It stars all of the "venoms" except the "snake"- actor Wai Pei.

Rating: 5 stars
