Summary: 5 deadly venoms - classic
Review: i dont have this particular copy of the movie, but this is a classic 'kung fu cinema' movie. some of the techniques seem to be made up ( like the snake ), but this is one exciting movie with a plot. master is poisoned, sends his last student to sniff out guilty party who could be one of his former students.. also you have the classic good vs. evil motif. lots of very good kung fu, the english dubbing on my copy is poor. but who really cares what they are saying?

Summary: A Kung-Fu Classic
Review: This movie is one the best I've ever seen. I first this movie in NYC as young kid and was amazed at the action. Now many years later I let my son in the secret and he is just as amazed as I was twenty years ago. I have been trying to build my collection of kung-fu movies and this one is still my favorite of all.

Summary: A Kung Fu Legend
Review: Ignore the tacky overdubbed dialogue, poor quality film transfer and weedy storyline. This is a Kung Fu masterpiece and in my opinion you wouldn't have had Enter The Dragon, The Matrix or Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon without it. The Kung Fu set pieces with flying, sticking to walls fighting and choroegraphy that replied on skill not clever editing of quarter second segments makes this film a true joy.

If you're in anyway a fan of matial arts movies then this is a must buy. Dont expect that glossy Hollywood look or feel and flashy editing. This is the real thing. So get a few beers from the fridge, kick back and enjoy it for what it is.

Summary: whats the big deal?
Review: This movie always comes up when people talk about kung fu movies. But it really isnt such a good movie like everyone says because there isnt much fighting in this movie just a lot of talk u really have to listen to eveything they say because it is so easily confusing and its hard to watch without falling asleep. The fight at the end was good but this movie to me really isnt a kungfu movie but a msytery I havent seen all the venoms films but Im sure that the others have to be better than this one. Im gonna just say that 5 deadly venoms (is bad)!

Summary: Not their best
Review: Even though this may be the most recognized Venom flick I don't believe it's their best. (Masked Avengers, Chinese Super Ninjas). Not that much action until the End fight.

Summary: GREAT!!!
Review: I remember watching this film in Black Belt Theatre when I was a kid. I'm glad that its out on DVD now and still looks good! The only thing is that I wish that it was in Widescreen Anamorphic. But even if its not just get it because its still a great movie to have in your collection.

Summary: DVD - Laughable quality
Review: I haven't even fully seen this film yet. You can get info on that from other reviews. I just wanted to let everyone know that the quality of this DVD is laughable at best. You can tell by the resolution and analog noise that this DVD was actually recorded from a VHS master. The letterbox bars have horrible resolution themselves (and they're just black!). Plus I examined the analog hits, noise, and dropout on the disc and they are all VHS noise. Trust me, I am a video professional. This DVD was mastered from VHS (or MAYBE S-VHS or Hi8), not even a more accpetable analog format like Betacam.

If you like the movie, this is acceptable. At least it won't degrade further with repeated viewings. It also might be worth mentioning that I believe this DVD is already out of print. Just know that if you buy it, you are getting a VHS dupe and that's it.

Summary: The Power of Venom
Review: When you hear a Wu-Tang song from their first album you hear the sound clips from Five Deadly Venoms. This film captures the essence of a Classic Kung Fu film. The sounds, the wounds, the blood, the torture, it's all there for the discriminating Kung Fu fan. The video game Mortal Kombat drew heavily from this film. The fight scenes are fantastic because they take the idea of fantasy and incorporate tasteful violence into the action without over doing it. You do have to pay close attention to the sound as it is not stellar. However, you must purchase this film on DVD because the format is done justice in the digital realm. This movie compares to Big Trouble in Little China among others. Great entertainment and anticipation of the final showdown between the five venoms.

Summary: One of the classics
Review: Shot during the 70's, this is most definitely not one of the chop-sockeys that should earn the scorn of the viewer. It is a great movie to introduce someone to the wonderful world of HK movies with, however. Great fun. ...
