Summary: The Last WORD
Review: OK...If you haven't seen Deep Impact or Armageddon, here's the criteria for deciding between the two (more than likely, you will like one and hate the other). Armageddon: buy this if you have no concept of science or current space technologies. On top of that, if you like action but not acting....this is your flick. Deep Impact: buy this if you want a thought provoking experience. Sure, it has some faults but the movie works at many levels for many different viewers. It shows women in positions of power in the media...it preaches the merit, wisdom, and resolve of older people (Duvall), it addresses family relations, alcoholism, young love, and foremost, they portray an African-American as president of the United States (bravo). However, as a devout follower of world unity and consciousness....I don't know what to make about all the religious references. Steven Spielberg and his consortium at DreamWorks are very clever and smart...is there an agenda at work here? Pay attention.

Summary: ANOTHER SUMMER OF DOUBLE DISASTER MOVIES
Review: Does this sound familiar. Last year it was volcanoes. this year, asteroids. This movie made around $150 million at the box office. why? Because everyone was waiting for Armageddon. To be honest, I hated sitting at the movie theatre with 400 other people because I couldn't fall asleep. It wasn't so bad at home, but I still could have watched the first and last fifteen minutes and the movie would have been great. I do have one great thing to say about this movie. MIMI LEDER. She is going to be a powerhouse director very soon. So the movie wasn't a total flop thanks to Mimi.

Summary: A few grave misconceptions...
Review: ALOT of people reviewing this film here think:

#1... This film is somehow 'inferrior' because it isn't 95% special effects, and...

#2... All blockbuster or 'event' films have to have lots of mindless action.

NOTHING could be further from the truth.

I'm not going to list examples... I'll let you 'the reader' do the math. :)

Summary: rent don't buy
Review: It is worth seeing but not worth buying. They tried to do too much in a short movie. It needed to be a three part mini series. The first day would have shown the discovery of the comet, the second showing the attempts to stop it and the third showing the destruction and aftermath.

Well that is my two cents worth....

Summary: Way better than Armagedon!
Review: This was the best movie I've seen this year and in along time.It has several plots going at once and keeps you thouroghly entertained. The ending is the best and I will see it again and again. And not just a chic movie either plenty of destruction and death for the guys. But have your tissue ready.Boo-Hoo.

Summary: Leoni/Wood BAD. Rest GOOD
Review: Tea Leoni was no good in this flick. Very bland. Elijah Wood got really annoying about halfway through. The rest of the cast was above average. The film had a great premise, but i don't think it really followed through in the end. Between this and Armageddon, I have to go with Armageddon, but only by a sliver.

Summary: Clearly supirior to Armegedon
Review: This film has charicter develpoment, and there is more than a rock heading towards earth here. Deep impact shows the impact on the earth as well as the lives of it's inhabitants. There are not as many technical flaws in Deep Impact as Armegedon. They did take into account of the sunrise in Deep Impact, in Amegedon they tried to sell you that the asteroid was spinning in three axis but forget the fact that the sun would rise three times faster, and there would have been no winds or any of the "debris showers" as in Armededon, did they think that we forgot that there is no air in space for the wind, or that all of those flying rocks would have been traveling at the same rate of speed because nothing would have slowed them down? The whole seen on the asteroid in Armegedon was a scientific JOKE! All in all there is just more meat to Deep Impact

Summary: Incredibly moving film of epic proportions
Review: My wife and I recently purchased the DVD "Deep Impact".As usual we looked @ the trailer first in anticipation for what was to come.To say that we were moved is an understatement.Deep Impact like Armageddon, took us out of our seats and involved us in an experience we'll not soon forget! Character development(Duvall, freeman and Leoni) was right on the mark.Visually breathtaking special effects coupled with inescapable human tragedy made this an indescribeabale event. I can't imagine all of this movie being tastefully edited on a pan and scan videotape! If you can get the DVD, it's well worth the price.,just sit back and prepare for the ride! If you can't get the DVD at least track down the widescreen version on VHS.Truly one of the greatest cinematic efforts to date!

Summary: Quirky and thoughtful, --filmaking on this side of brave.
Review: I gave it 5 stars to counter the 1-star reviews that were given obviously because the movie got a "rise" out of certain people. If it irritated some that much, it was because it was not a "bland, nothing-movie" like Armageddon. Nothing happens in Armageddon. The word "armageddon" doesn't mean "harmless big rock in space," it means "the end of the world" -something the movie doesn't even consider. What a disappointment.

If you want to see a fun "Armageddon" movie that delivers, watch Independence Day.

Deep Impact, with all its faults is much better than Bruce Willis' Armageddon. In reality I'd give it 4-stars for trying. The comet actually hits, and people actually die "just because." I would also recommend it for those people who remember the Challenger explosion and who remember the school teacher that died it in. When the lady-astronaut in the movie said her goodbye, it was a little like saying goodbye to Christa McAuliffe finally, and I thought that was alright.

Summary: too much sappy hollywood
Review: Just rented this movie last night and couldn't believe i actually sat through the entire thing. First off they break the movie up into WAY too many substories to solve in 2 hours. The scenes where people act nobly become so cheesey that by the end of the movie you want the world destroyed. Not only was it too sappy and mushy but they make an issue of launching hundreds of missles at the comets and then don't even include a scene showing it. As unbelievable as I thought Armageddon was it was still a hundred times more enjoyable than this movie. It makes me wonder why they bothered with last minute lovey dovey additions to Armageddon so it wouldn't be only an action movie. Deep Impact has enough mushy fluff for every hollywood movie for about the next 5 years. Basically you've probably figured out that I think it's an awful disappointment from Dreamworks and that it's not worth the time.
