Summary: Great Fun
Review: This movie is entertaining for all! And even the 5 and 7 year olds loved it. In fact, it is the all-new favorite in the family. I loved the way the plot intertwined all of these fictional characters we know and love from books and films. It bridges the gaps on the characters for a little at least from the time their original book/film stories ended to the time period of the film. Who hasn't wondered what happened to Mina or Tom Sawyer or Captain Nemo from the ending of their stories? How did the position of "M" start in Her Majesty's Secret Service from Ian Fleming? We've all put down a book or finished a movie and wished it could continue.

Now to continue this story....please?

Summary: Hey! It wasn't that bad!
Review: What a bunch of negative remarks! This is a great movie. It's very creative, good plot, great characters, cool graphics, and awsome art design. This movie was practaly eye candy for me. And of course Sean Connery did a great preformance (even if he is getting old). If you like X-MEN then i think you should consider this movie. My mom is a interior designor and she loves all the artistic design in this movie. Go rent it. If you don't like, then oh well.

Summary: What a disaster.
Review: I was looking forward to seeing this, but I was highly disappointed when I finally had the chance to do so. This movie has a messy plot that I wasn't even into. I was thinking that maybe as the movie went on, I would be more interested, but I wasn't. Stuart Townsend couldn't even save this movie. His part wasn't big enough. (he's too good to be in this movie) Boring production, drab colors, nothing to hold one's mind at all. This is going in the back of my collection and probably never coming out. Avoid this at all costs.

Summary: Get rid of that stupid American...
Review: Could no one responsible for this project see that this Shane West person has no business being anywhere near this film? I was fully prepared to while away a few hours with this piece of fluff, not expecting anyway particularly extraordinary, but at least have some fun watching Sean Connery do his thing. Then, 15 minutes into the film, we get this Shane West - he opens his mouth - and the movie is history for me. Bone-headed producers who feel that we Americans are so stupid that we can't enjoy a movie unless it has some moronic 15-year old cowboy in it. Did no one at the studio watch this and not figure it out? I have to admit I never did finish the film. If they had to have an American, did they have to get someone who registers like a block of unvarnished wood?

Summary: My Sister's Favorite!
Review: This movie is the best thing that ever happened to my sister! Shane West with blonde extensions, enough said.

Summary: Could have been great, should have been great, but it wasn't
Review: The idea of for the LXG movie was a great one. The wittiness and cleverness of having a team of classic literary characters seems very fun, and this movie could have started a great franchise. With some of the worst directing and a terribly written screenplay, however, this film fails to astonish, in fact it fails to even slightly entertain after the first 20 minutes.

One of the problems, is that their is always something action-packed happeneing at every moment. This causes for boredom, for if your adrenaline is going every second, eventually it is ineffective. Their is no down time in the movie for the viewer to process the information. This cause the viewing of LXG seem like it is work. Most of the acting is pretty well-done, but the director, who should never be let near a video-camera again, had no idea what he was doing.

Trust me, this movie is not worth watching.

Summary: One for the Trash....Don't waste your time or money...bad
Review: Sean Connery has been quoted as saying he regretted turning down the lord of the rings script when given because he did't get the movie so This time even though he once again didn't get the script he just decided to make the movie just in case it was another LOTR sucess type movie......BIG MISTAKE.....BAD movie .....Save your money....Has no substance.....One for the fire place......

Summary: Three and a Half
Review: Considering this is an overblown Hollywood special fx extravaganza, it's actually entertaining. Entertaining in that cheesy way. To me it was the concept alone that interested me. In fact, I'm kinda surprised this film was made or considered at all. Really now, it's not like anyone reads anymore. What percent of the population knows who Alan Quartermain is? But you don't exactly have to know who all of these characters are(but it helps) to understand or enjoy the film, coz when you get down to it, it's just another Xmen type movie. There are a couple of modernized attemps at humor that are lame, and Mr. Hyde is kind of a disappointment(he's made into some kind of Hulk-type beast), but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy this. It's got all the fancy action to keep you glued to your seat, the actors pull it off decently, and it has that traditional ending where the whole place blows up and everybody's scrambling for the exit. What more could you ask for?

Summary: So-So by itself, Garbage compared to the book.....
Review: What happened to this film?? Alan Moore's wonderful graphic novel series featured an intriguing concept and fascinating characters (famous characters from classic literature are brought together to combat anarchists threats and an alien invasion) in a wonderfully written story. LXG, The Movie, is what you get when a concept like this gets put through the Hollywood "money-grubber" machine.

Tom Sawyer gets thrown in so American audiences can "relate" to the other characters (we don't read books anymore, remember?). Mina Harker got turned into an extra from Blade II, turning into bats, flying around in a black leather outfit!! Captain Nemo (they kept him as he is in the book, but they changed the design of the Nautilus), Dorian Gray and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are also in this film. On top of all of this, Alan Quartermain, played by Sean Connery is the leader of this group and the reason why many movie-goers paid to see this film. "Surely HE would'nt be in a terrible film", we all thought.

Well, this movie is terrible if you read the books. If you never heard of LXG, then you will probably give this movie 3 stars, maybe. This film has none of the character development found in the books and the end is a complete sell-out. LXG could have been much better if the director did'nt try to turn it into another Summer movie explosion-fest. What a shame..
