Rating: Summary: What the hell? Review: This movie is just sad. Is this what humanity is coming to? killing Man-eating lions? If this movie does something it promoted cruelty to animals. Save yourself some time and don't watch it.
Rating: Summary: Feast for the eye Review: This is a true story of two lions ending up as man eaters. Nature against man. The scenery is absolutely beautiful, the special effects with the lions are great! Douglas and Kilmer are true to character. This is a must see movie!
Rating: Summary: Inspired and intriguing true story brought to life Review: While I was unable to read the book before I saw the movie, as I usually like to do, the movie was enough. The story is achieved with singular cinemetography and well-acted roles, and I have recommended it to many. It's even had a hand in inspiring my upcoming trip to Botswana with family. And I'm not a very adventurous person. =)
Rating: Summary: Don't Go Back in the Jungle! Review: I've never seen a movie (since Jaws) that can create such terror and suspense over a natural animal. This movie keeps you on the edge of your seat constantly. Two lions terrorizing a village. Big deal, I thought before I actually watched it. Wow! The acting was good (especially the lions). And the attack scenes were shocking! It is fairly graphic in places so I wouldn't recommend it to younger viewers. And not just because of graphic violence. Just the sheer terror that this movie creates with these beasts will never allow junior to look at the lions in the zoo the same way again!
Rating: Summary: something to sink my claws into. Review: this is not the most amazing film ever made, but i just love it to death. the score is amazing and very powerful on the dvd. the acting is good and the action fast and gripping. the supporting characters are also good. i never find the film to drag and the lions are very well filmed as the surrounding scenery. africa comes across as a very beautiful country if not a little dangerous. this is a movie that i can watch again and again. i really recommend it. give it a watch.
Rating: Summary: Thrilling! And Based on a True Story. Review: My sister and brother-in-law told me about this movie and I bought it without even seeing it. When I finally got around to watching it, I saw immediately why they loved it so much. The superb acting of Douglas and Kilmer (and the African dude who saved Kilmer's life), and an excellent storyline make this one of the best movies ever made. You won't regret buying this movie, as it is something that you can watch over and over without getting bored. One day I will go to the museum in Illinois where the real lions are on display.
Rating: Summary: excellent DVD transfer to a good film Review: Loosely based off of a true story, this is an intriguing film that does actually get you on the edge of your seat in some of the sequences. Excellent editing and some solid camera work depicting the lion's point of view keep things fresh and original. This film looks magnificent on DVD, with the image quality truly beautiful. The blades of grass in the African fields are crisp and sharp and the countryside mastershots are superb. The sound is exceptional and Jerry Goldsmith's fantastic score make this film all the more watchable. Too bad you only get the trailer and no other goodies. An isolated score would have been excellent.
Rating: Summary: You MUST see this Movie! Review: This movie is one of the Best movies I have ever seen! And it is based on a true story. It has action, suspence, and excelent scenery. I highly suggest watching it! It's #1
Rating: Summary: One Of My Favorite Movies Review: This movie is a great 2 hours spent in your life. This movie fits right in my fsvorite Movie chart along with The Long Kiss Goodnight, Austin Powers, The Fifth Element, And Back To The Future.
Rating: Summary: I LOVED the movie! Review: Although Val Kilmer is not anywhere near on my list of favorite actors, I must admit that he was excellent in this movie. The whole story just was magnificent. I was very surprised to find how mild the language was for a movie of this kind. The only thing I would complain about is the fact that Val Kilmer's character is supposed to be Irish, you would never guess that with his non-existing accent.
