Summary: One of the worst films in recent memory
Review: From the gratuitous special effects to the unconvincing plot to Keanu's typically poor acting, this was one of the worst films I've seen in a long time. The dialogue was corny ("coppertop", "we're not in Kansas anymore", "no one can be told what the matrix is"). The science behind the film was offensively fake. This film takes the interesting but unoriginal concept of alternate realities and does an awful job of executing it. The holes in the plot are innumerable, but here's a start: humans consume, not produce, energy; real-world people can hack into the matrix to create guns, but not a door or a bomb; a computer fights simulated enemies by creating simulated agents instead of just "deleting" the enemies -- it's all a simulation, remember. And in the end, self-confidence and love conquer all. Whatever.The movie takes cool things -- techo music, a couple of good actors, science fiction, and decent special effects -- and makes them suck somehow. And we all get to look forward to two sequels...

Summary: The Matrix
Review: From the heart-pounding beginning to the suspense-filled end The Matrix captures your attention and never lets go. The Matrix is a mixture of Sci-Fi, action, and martial arts; all the elements of an awesome movie. With a plot that stretches your imagination.
The main character Neo(Keanu Reeves) becomes a target of the Agents. He is rescued by Morpheous(Laurence Fishbourn) and his team who are fighting the artificial intelligence machines that have taken over the Earth. Morpheous tell Neo of "The world that is pulled over our eyes to shield us from the truth." Morpheous believes Neo is "the one" who will deliver them to freedom. Neo has to learn to manipulate The Matrix to conquer his enemies. This is where the action comes in. Does Neo succeed? Is he the one? You'll have to see for yourself.
I can tell you that the special effects are phenomenal and the action will leave you saying "Wow". Every time I see The Matrix I'm always as impressed as the first time I saw it. I can't wait for the sequels. Could they possibly be as good as the first?

Summary: My favourite film ever.
Review: From the initial scene you're attention is caught and for once in a film it just doesn't let go of you. I bought this film on the first day it was released after being captivated by it's storyline and style at the cinema. Fishburne acts brilliantly, along with Carrie-Anne and Hugo Weaving, Keanu just looks cool. The final hour will have you staring at the screen in amazement as The Matrix unravels in an explosive way. Absolutely everyone should see this film. Also is it just me who has noticed the Christian theme in the film, e-mail me with your thoughts. Without a doubt the best action film ever made, the special effects will blow you away, if this doesn't get an Oscar for them I personally will feel cheated.

Summary: One of the most thought-provoking, mind-boggling action pics
Review: From the opening scene you know you're in for something special. One viewing will not do this film justice. Three viewings will dispell any thought of internal inconsistencies you think you saw. What appears to be a weak ending bears careful listening... a sequel has to be in the offing. Special effects are awesome. Fishburne steals the show. Watch all the goodies that come with the DVD. The Matrix made me say all this.

Summary: Not original... but... Mmmmmm, cinematography
Review: From the start, the film plunges you into the dark, comic-book-ish, frightening setting that "The Matrix" is set in. The movie takes a lot of time to explain the plot and concepts presented in this film, so you have no excuse to complain about how confusing this film was. Some of you will realize that "The Matrix" borrows a lot of concepts from the 1998 film, "Dark City". Both films are about an inhuman race keeping a population of humans in a fake, virtual world, until one man learns the truth and fights back. The story & concepts in this film are not very original, but the film makes up for this by having the best action cinematography ever seen in a motion picture. Time will be slowed to the point where you can see bullets travelling across the screen as the camera flawlessly spins in circles around the set. In other words, the action scenes in this film are super-stylized, much like a Japanese-animated film. The orchestral score maintains the moody-ness of the film and keeps the audience intrested. This film will keep you intrested and entertained from start to finish.

Review: From what I have heard you either liked the movie or hated it. I loved it and everyone I know loved it. I don't know what version you other people are watching but it can't be the same one cause these special effects and the plot were great!

Review: geez with all the star wars hype you'd wouldve thought the movie CANT be that bad but huh.... To be fair, The Matrix isnt really a movie for children. But its the best scifi thriller of the year for us adults. Oh ya and no Jar Jar.:)

Review: Giving this movie just five stars just doesn't do it its justice. It should be given at least ten. This movie takes all of the others in the past that explored the same idea and blows them completely out of the water. This movie will be a classic for ages to come. The special effects of this movie were fantastic, and to think that they even had to invent new ways to film just so that they could get the right shots. It kind of makes a person feel good knowing that they have seen the best movie of the century.

Summary: THE TRIUMPH OF BANALITY
Review: Go buy another DVD because the original one does not work. Pay again. Help the matrix be built. It's just an action movie. As soon as it intends to be anything more, it crumbles away. The matrix is pre-digested visual philosophy for teenagers. Go sit at your home theater. If you can make it work, play your copy. Play it really loud. Keep living the dream. Keep feeding the system. You're bleeding money. Just a big lie. No real feelings. Medium = message. Form = medium. Matrix = entertainment = the very anesthetic illusion that it claims to unveil. "It made me wake up, it opened my ayes", yeah, yeah, yeah. This is no visionary sci-fi film. The stupidity of the "humans as an electricity source" theory pretext has already been pointed out, but here goes another major flaw: zero, nothing, not a word on genetics. And it could be happening now. It's not AI against humans but cognitively enhanced humans against regular ones. It's just a matter of time. And money, of course.
