Summary: Very Good and sad
Review: Very very exciting but.....sad after me and my 9 year old brother saw the movie he was crying day after day and month after month. the music rules and I'm thinking of burning it on a CD. The U.S. troops would have had victory if they had better armory.also it would be an exciting and an EXTREAME STORY if they had Asians and blacks and hispanics etc beside just the white peeps I'm an asian and it'd be better for me

Summary: Fast and Furious
Review: This piece of work is definately a movie to see. It is a spectacular military adventure that strikes into the heart of the viewers. Although it has some cheesy lines and some unoriginal and predicatble scenes, it is yet an extremly good movie. It has action non-stop and the fire fights are very well made. But the most important thing is that the action is a minute-by-minute action as in Mark Bowdens book, which is very good.

The beginning is very good, and the music is top-notch. The sense of starvation of the Somali people is excellent, by the music and the pace in the beginning. The graphics are fantastic and clear, which makes this movie deserve one more star from my view.

The battle of Mogadishu in Somalia was the bloodiest American battle since their time in Vietnam, and indeed it was gruesome. In the movie it shows things strictly from an American prespective, which is ok, but initially there should have been some, if not more from the Somali side, as in the book.
What I personally did not like about the movie is that it had some, as stated, cheesy lines and that the American soldiers were almost untouchable in a firefight (in some cases). As many have stated is that the Americans were portrayed as heros and the Somalis bad guys. Of course both sides had their reasons to fight, whether who was bad and who was good. Through out the movie we follow the Rangers and Delta units as they fight Somali militias who engage them in a fierce-fight through day and into the night, which caused the Americans some 18 dead and over a 1000 dead Somalis. There are some extremly bloody scenes and one gruesome "operation" on a leg.

Black Hawk Down is one of the few military movies to win an oscar, which I think deserves. Forget all about the politics and the cheesy stuff in the film and just enjoy it. The film crew consists of veterans: director Ridley Scott (Gladiator, oscar-winning) Jerry Bruckheimer (Pearl Harbor, The Rock, etc.), and Hans Zimmer (The Rock, Pearl Harbor, Gladiator) with more. Small world isn't it?

Again, watch this movie, for it will bring you to see the reality of war. If not, the reality of a good movie.

Summary: One of the best war movies ever made!
Review: Black Hawk Down starts out with a brief introduction into the U.S. involvement in Somalia, and then takes us on a journey through hell!

This movie tells the true story of Task Force Ranger, who were sent to Somalia to put an end to the clan warfare and capture the most powerful warlord in the impoverished African nation. What was supposed to be a routine mission, turned into a fierce 18 hour battle that claimed the lives of 18 American servicemen and resulted in another 73 being wounded.

This movie does not "Hollywood" the story at all because it simply did not need to. The story itself was shocking, tragic, and in many senses triumphant. It was an event that very few people in this country knew about at the time. Mark Bowden's book was exceptionally written and the movie follows it extremely well.

Be aware...This movie is not for the faint of heart! It depicts the battle in graphic detail and contains scenes of some very gruesome injuries sustained by the men involved. There is one scene where a medic is fighting to save the life of a wounded soldier who has a severed artery in his leg. This is one of the most graphic sequences you will see in a film, so be prepared.

Ridley Scott turned in another brilliant job of directing. He successfully puts the audience into the fight and allows us to feel the hopelessness and despair that was felt by these brave men. He tells the story of this battle with exceptional detail and realism. You will be left with a mix of emotions after watching this film, but you will also feel a deep sense of thanks and gratitude for the men and women who are serving our country today.

Black Hawk Down is one of the best films in recent years and should not be missed!

Summary: Not for drama fanatics
Review: ...this movie is nonfiction. I actually spoke to friends in the forces who really loved this movie strictly for its realism. Therefore, I believe that this movie needs to be rated for its accuracy and screenplay, which I personally thought were excellent.

Summary: Best movie I have seen in a long time
Review: I read the book and loved it. I watched the movie and loved it. Doubtful that they could reproduce the climax from the book in a movie, but they achieve it. The movie is filled with intense action as the story unfolds. The time passed really quickly while watching this movie.

To enjoy the movie even better, read the book. It will be a quick reading since its intensity keeps you reading until you are finished.

Enjoy !!!

Summary: Predictable, recipe, cliche, non-original, yuck!
Review: If your looking for a war movie along the lines of Apocalypse Now, Saving Private Ryan, or even Platoon, you'll be horribly disappointed with Blackhawk Down. The flick is pure big-budget, low-intellect Hollywood, and it's obvious the "creative talent" behind the scenes wasn't even smart enough to locate the junior-filmaker's recipe book. How many times do we have to hear, "tell my wife I love her *gasp, wheeze*..." only to hear, "You can tell her yourself, you can make it!" Gawd, not again!

The characters were exaggerated and dimensionless, the symbolism (when it was actually included) was crammed down our throats, and important details totally ignored. Since when do soldiers just hop on a Humvee to join his buds in combat without first checking with their senior officers?

If you like truly senseless violence, then get this movie. But if you like the dynamic interplay compelling dialogue, or the satisfaction of relating to a particular character in a hellish circumstance, then seek your entertainment elsewhere.

Summary: Kill the Africans to save them
Review: It's really a shame that such a fantastic director (Aliens, Bladerunner, Gladiator) had to resort to a racist and boring mis-adventure. Under the guise of saving Somalis from famine (though the worst of it was already over), U.S. troops got into trouble. In the process, they killed thousands of Somalis... In the movie, each American life is precious and each Somali life is worthless. The movie is nearly plotless; American soldiers shooting like crazy at Africans who don't want them there. Fans of the book will be disappointed that Ridley Scott has stripped the movie of any complexity, doubt, or sophistication. For 2 hours, it's just 'kill the Black people.'

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Ridley Scott should have gone for two in a row..
Review: This film was absolutely excellent! I felt somewhat at an advantage watching it because I read the book in advance, but nothing was lost here. The book was incredibly well done, and only Ridley Scott could do this movie justice. The music combined with the filming aided this movie in giving the same feel the book had, which was that this was not a brilliant screenplay written for hollywood, this was REAL. Great acting throughout, editing, music. There is absolutely no reason that this film shouldn't have been the picture of the year.

Bravo Ridley Scott for more ground-breaking work!
