Summary: Good action, but boring movie
Review: This movie lived up to the hype of best sound and it had some great action sequences. but i turned it off about 3/4 through it because it just didn't hold my attention. same thing over and over and over, without actually going into why that happened.

all in all, boring movie.

Summary: Very well made movie
Review: Even though it's a very intense movie to watch due to all the shooting that goes on in the movie, the result is very good and Ridley Scott is very acurate with real events. I highly recomend this movie.

Summary: amazing!!!
Review: i have to admit i only wanted to see this movie because ewan macgregor plays in it, but it is a wonderful movie. i never even knew about what was going on over there until i saw the movie. all of the actors did a great job. it was action all the way through. let me tell you i was on the edge of my seat, and i'm a girl. so if you love action and war movies then this is definitely the movie for you. i kind of regret not seeing it in the theater.

Summary: Even Better on DVD than it was in the Theater
Review: I orignally watched "Blackhawk Down" at the theaters after reading the book and watching the documentary on CNN, but "Blackhawk Down" is even better on DVD and I'll tell you why: (1. Subtitles. Many things occur in "Blackhawk Down" and Director Ridley Scott has the complex task of breaking down an almost one day old fire fight involving hundreds of lives into a two hour film. One complaint about this film is the fact that it is hard to keep track of who the main characters are. The subtitles help. (2. The story behind the making of "Blackhawk Down." The story on the DVD about the making of "Blackhawk Down" was about as good as watching the movie itself because it explained the whole story plus the main characters in great detail including all the work that went into the making of the film which for me, anyway, enriched the whole film much more. For example, I did not know that the Defense Dept. not only provided the blackhawk helicoptors for the movie, but also the personnel to actually do the stunts. I also did not know that the actors involved actually went to a shortened bootcamp at Fort Benning, Ga. to recreate the training of the Rangers, and that the Delta operators went to Fort Bragg, North Carolina and learned how to make bombs and such like the Delta Team Operators do. That was very interesting. I also did not know that the actor who played Mike Durant, the captured helicoptor pilot, got to meet the real Mike Durant and that he was very touched by that experience. That richened my appreciation of the film. The sound on the DVD was excellent as well and having the ability to replay certain scenes over and over allowed me to comprehend what was going on in the film. All in all, "Blackhawk Down" was and is a great film and by watching it on DVD and taking advantage of the subtitles option as well as watching how "Blackhawk Down" was made, a viewer can get to really understand and appreciate the movie even more.

Summary: The army fails again
Review: This movie and 'We were soldiers' shows a pattern through several decades of poor leadership, no cohesiveness, poor training and lack of intelligence gathering. Notice that the first words on the screen talk about the army coming in after the Marines are pulled out. This movie does little to develop its characters- I didn't even know who Tom Sizemore was portraying until I saw the credits. But come on don't they teach the army troops how to bound and move? "I'm up he sees me, I'm down" is what Marines are taught. And this picture portrays a complete lack of anyone knowing what is going on around them or an ability to think under fire. If a machine gunner gets killed next to me, I'm not going to sit there with his head in my lap, I'm going to take over the gun. duh I hope this was just Hollywood's portrayal of the event and that soldiers aren't this poorly trained. I was a grunt and trained with 5th force recon and know how professionals operate.

Summary: Nothing to this one
Review: This is truely a boring movie. Yes it is all action, shooting, shoooting shooting, but there is absolutely nothing interesting. The scenes are not really well thought out, and the characters are so superficial. I can't recommend this movie to anyone.

Summary: Nice Movie - Too bad it isn't true to life.
Review: Nice action and acting all around, but this is not what happened in real life people. Read the book by Mark Bowden - one of the survivors. Find out why he and others are no longer with the military.

Summary: Fact or Fiction
Review: As you watch this movie, try and remember that this is all fact based. I had a hard time believing that something like this could actually happen. Watch and remember.

Summary: DUM DVD DOWN!
Review: Dreadful [unfortunately] absolutely deadful DVD! I wondered about the sound quality - NOT quite what we had in the theatre.

Then [sorry] yet again about the performances - WHAT performances??? Body parts, extreme close-ups and then that RIDICULOUS scene where half a fallen body still has a full monologue - shades of 'Monty Python'/Zucker Brothers "Airplane" - get real folks! Except for the final and very moving conclusion [Josh Hartnett - please run away from the so called 'block-busters' you are by far too talented for this mess] - the rest of this garbage is quite unintelligible.

Ridley Scott [another 'blue' period movie - first 'Gladiator' - great for this artistic tone, the [yawn!] 'Hannibal' - now this? ...this movie makes us look like fools! {AND we are not!} How could we even have approved this?] Unlike the brilliance of "The Thin Red Line", "The Victors", "The Young Lions", even "Full Metal Jacket" one just doesn't care a damn about the Boys - and one should, AND that's just ONE of the major flaws present.

However, I will not return this 'grotesque' - rather wait for something slightly more appropriate - reflecting the true American spirit!

This one's a bomb[e]

Summary: Black Hawk Down
Review: This is a movie without a story - just another taste of hollywood slapstick blood and guts without any real purpose - but of course that may be exactly what the director is trying to put accross - the futility of American foreign involvement!
