Summary: Long, but worth every minute!
Review: This L.A. crime saga is epic in scope and flawlessly executed. Its three-hour running time might scare some first-time viewers off, but don't be one of them. This movie is tense, exciting, and meticulous in detail. The first time I saw it was in the theaters, and its length was a bit taxing because I was tired before the movie started. But subsequent viewings at home (and I have watched it A LOT) make me love this movie more and more. It has high tech robberies, fierce shootouts in downtown L.A., and a wonderful soundtrack featuring Moby and others. This movie sets the high standard for the genre.

Summary: They Don't Make Them Any Better
Review: This is one of the best action movies ever made. Period. The shootout on the streets of LA is unsurpassed for excitement and pure adrenaline rush. Fantastic direction and effects, most especially sound (hope you have Dolby surround sound!).A flawless cast is put through their paces by a director at the top of his game. Michael Mann is becoming a world class director, and getting better with each outing. He tells a BIG story here, with the dual star power of Pacino & DeNiro, and he tells his story BIG! Three dimensional characters, terse and telling dialogue, superb direction as noted with complimentary excellence in cinematography, sound, special effects, etc. and a great script that makes the 2-1/2 hours fly by. This is the real deal. As good as it gets. Don't miss this one, and get the surround sound cranked up and duck as the bullets and glass tear up your living room.

Summary: Inteligent Action
Review: This is an absolutely amazing movie. It will satisfy any lover of action movies while still giving the viewer something to think about. The movie deals not only with the cat and mouse chase of Pacino and Deniro as cop and robber respectively, but also with the people whose lives their actions affect. You see Pacino's wife try to deal with loving a man who is never there; Deniro isolating himself from all emotional contact in order to be ready to run at all times; Kilmer loosing his wife, son and fortune to his gambling addiction. It is engrossing to watch these lives play out against the backdrop of the LA crime scene. The movie is a long ride, but it is worth every second.

Review: This movie is one of my personel top 5. There is so much chemistry between Deniro and Pacino that may give acidic burns to the eyes and ears. Not to mention the best robbery scene of all time.A must have to your collestion.

Summary: Simply Special
Review: This movie is the boston creme amoung the jelly's in the box of dougnuts. The filet minon of movies. This is one of the best movies of all time. It features agruably the two best actors ever. You could shoot these two in just a room with chairs and a table for 3 hours and it would still be good. Instead with Heat, you get these two legends playing a game of cops and robbers, with a great scene where the two end up talking in a coffee shop. This is one of the greatest scene's in movie history. This is a must have for any movie goer. It has all the great acting you can fit into one film. And a few great action scene's. With a running time of almost 3 hours, it will leave you truly satisfied. It is a shame they don't make more movies like this. The DVD features your usual movie trailers and the like. Summary: Gripping Character Study, Compelling Crime Caper.
Review: Heat is a great film. It has superb characterization, a good complex plot and snappy dialogue. It also allows itself time to breathe. It doesn't feel the need to rush through scenes, but lets their full import mature on the screen. Al Pacino plays the cop, Robert de Niro the leader of a bank robbing outfit. But this is not exactly good guy vrs bad guy. More two similar people who just happen to be on different sides of the law. There is an earlier Michael Mann TV film called L.A. Takedown, which shares Heat's script. It is interesting to watch the earlier film. Because although parts of it are identical to Heat, L.A. Takedown is a competent thriller, whereas Heat is one of the best American films of the last decade. If you have the time to watch both films, it will provide you with an interesting insight into what makes a film great as opposed to merely quite good. If you don't have the time, just watch Heat. The difference lies in the acting, the electricity of the performers, and also in the added backgrounds the characters are given. We see Pacino struggling at home with family life. And his step-daughter (Natalie Portman) falling to pieces in front of his eyes. And Robert de Niro gets a girlfriend. We see both these men - cop and robber - trying to carve normal lives out for themselves and, largely, failing. And when the two men meet for the first time in a cafeteria across the state border, the atmosphere is incredible. These two screen giants in the same scene for the first time in their brilliant careers. (They never shared a scene in the Godfather:Part II, you may recall.) It is a gripping character piece wrapped up with a compelling crime caper. And it is well worth your attention.

Summary: Awesome action and drama
Review: Heat is without a doubt the best bank-robbing movie I have ever seen. It combines action and crime with brilliant drama, pitting some of the best top-notch Hollywood actors against each other. Al Pacino and Robert De Niro clash while on opposite sides of the law, yet each have continuing problems with their personal lives due to their relentless devotion to their work. This movie features what could possibly be the best, most intense action-sequence in all of history, the robbery scene that spills out into the streets of LA. This scene was thought to be the inspiration for the famous robbery in which two heavily-armed men wearing body armor took on the LAPD.

Summary: Take it to the bank, one of the best crime/drama movies ever
Review: If there is a movie that could be consitered perfect, then Heat is it. Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Val Kilmer, Ashley Judd, everyone in this movie is great, and their characters seem as real as people you might see on the street. Even the minor characters and all the detailed subplots are well done, and they all add up to one of the best tales ever told on camera. And the ending...well all's I'll say is that this movie actually got me choked up at the end. And I never get that way when I watch a movie. That's how good Heat is. Buy, beg, borrow, or steal to get this movie. You won't regret it.

Summary: Deep characterization, intense flowing movie
Review: You smell the good stuff when you see Al Pacino and Robert De Niro played together in a film directed by Michael Mann, who made "The Last of the Mohicans". The stage is just changed from the British colonies in the 18th century to the modern Los Angeles. The collision between the good Vincent Hanna LAPD cop and the hardened professional criminal Neil McCauley takes very deep, thoughtful development. The love-life of both are illustrated with empathy. Their dedications to their respective "job" are horrendous. Added the other crew members, Neil went on to the high street in the downtown L.A. and robbed the bank under the daylight. A long gun-fighting scene ensued. Fate abound, the story ended in a duel between the two "heroes" near the airport. The Heat is not just some action movie talking about the no. of bullets used. It is about heroism, companionship, faith and revenge. Director Michael Mann took a very careful consideration to the characterization. The performance by the two Oscar award-winning actors is also excellent. You won't realize the film passed 170 minutes when it finally came to an end. What you will find is an enjoyable, fulfilling and engaging entertainment.
