Summary: Sophisticated.
Review: Swordfish above all is about power, power and wealth that Gabriel Shear (John Travolta) or whatever his real name was before 5 other ones possesses. Gabriel is a cunning and dangerous antiterrorist whose aim is to protect U.S. With the help of his sexy assistant Ginger (Halle Berry) and with the promise of $10 million, he hires the best hacker in the world, Stanley, to transfer a $9.5 billion of unused government money into a couple of secret accounts.

But you have heard all of the above many times before. Here is, however, my private impression from the movie. It was not the best movie ever made, many say it was a two-edged, confusing movie. Maybe that is true but I liked the movie itself but mainly John Travolta's and Halle Berry's characters, the amazing way they performed their roles. They knew what they wanted and found the way to get it with calm charm and grace.

I would recommend this movie for those who appreciate art pieces.

Review: Here are some things you probably know about "Swordfish": It features some wildly exciting action sequences. John Travolta is not wearing dreadlocks but the classic "Pulp Fiction" (1994) cut. Yes, Halle Berry goes topless -- and so does Hugh Jackman. There's a nice twist at the end of the film. John Travolta plays Gabriel Shear, a super spy, and is playing the same standard bad guy he played in two films directed by John Woo, "Face/Off" (1997) and "Broken Arrow" (1996). "Swordfish" was directed by Dominic Sena, who began his career directing MTV music videos and flashy commercials. Berry plays Ginger, how original. She is Shears exotic and mysterious partner in crime -- or is she? Besides her impressive golf skills, she does have some good acting skills and breakthrough screen time with co-star Hugh Jackman from "X-Men". To sum up her acting ability in this movie, I'd have to agree with the words of Beonce' from Destiny's Child, "She's too bootylicious for me.". Jackman takes on the persona of Stanley Jobson, a world renown computer hacker who's our unlikely hero. He's just been released from jail and now he's a penniless, jobless bum living in a trailer with a low-wage job. So Ginger is sent by Shear to recruit Jobson to hack into a special Drug Enforcement Agency bank account which holds billions of dollars in drug money -- money which was taken from dealers and used in sting operations given the code "Swordfish." The secret account has been dormant for years, just collecting interest -- a tidbit of information that's attracted Shear's attention. Now he can bankroll his grand, egomaniacal anti-terrorist plans. Of course, Jobson has no interest in the proposal until he's given an offer he can't refuse -- obtaining the custody of his daughter. Critics have said this movie to be a sophomoric rendition of a wannabe "Matrix" film. I think this movie deserves some credit for keeping me guessing and leaving me breatheless during many of the action scenes.

Summary: The Exorcist IV?
Review: Hi Amazon friends. It is me, Bernie, again.

Is JOHN TRAVOLTA a good guy or bad guy? I always wondered in this movie. I don't know about you, but I was scared stiff when I saw this movie! It is more scary than EXORCIST! Basically some stuff blows up, Halle Berry goes topless the whole movie and more stuff blows up! THIS DESERVES BEST PICTURE OF THE YEAR AT THE ACADEMY ALONG WITH "POODIE TANG". Swordfish is a true, tear-jerking, heart pumping, run out of kleenex explosive epic. I still have my nightmares and cries. 5 stars out of 5.

Thanks so Much, Bernie Mocco

Summary: Swordfish - hardly the next Matrix, but a good flick
Review: I guess what really sells this movie, besides Halle Berry's um, assets, is John Travolta's ability to step out of the near-impenitrable typecast he has set for himself. i think hes not good as an actor, personally. but in this movie, he wasn't "JOHN TRAVOLTA" *Enter angel song and flashing lights*; he was actually the character he was portraying. also, i like Hugh Jackman as an actor. not to say he's the next Robert DeNiro, the absolute best living actor, but he's got style and charisma. you can cry with him or kick it with him. i mean, the guy played wolverine believeably. do you realize how difficult that is? anyway, i thought this movie had a great cast, pretty good direction and action, and a plot you not only follow easily but relish. SOrry if anyone didn't understand it, it made perfect sense to me. so i give it four stars.

Summary: A warning that being a computer hacker can get you killed.
Review: X-Men co-stars Hugh Jackman and Hallie Barry reteam on film as Barry plays a mysterious woman who wants to help a wanted computer hacker (Hugh) save his daughter from a life with a drunk mother...but in the process he gets on way over his head as his new employer is about as greedy and so far off the political deep end that he wants Hugh to hack the computer systems of a major bank and steal millions of dollars in funds. Before it's over, Hugh Jackman's character's life and that of his daughter hangs in the balance and he must save them both himself, his daughter, and some 30 hostages from certain death. Of course this is also a movie where the FBI is of no help at all. A trend we see plenty of in Hollywood these days and a major drawback of this film.

Summary: Swordfishing in the deep....
Review: Go see it, and dont' rent it - buy it! Swordfish is about misdirection - what the eyes see and and the mind believes. The characters and plot will prey on the traditional paradigms of "good-guy" and "bad-guy", leaving room for actual thought and creativity to bounce around in your cranium as you pontificate the consequences of gun-blasting-action-movie-quick-draw-blow-em-up-style sequences and plot. Similar to John Woo style directing, but with some serious undertones that'll leave you saying "wow" to yourself 2 hours after you finish watching the flick.

Sit back, strap in, and enjoy the ride. Then remember how - in the end - it just might be that reality is far stranger then fiction...

Summary: Swordfish is a great catch
Review: The action scenes were outstanding. John Travolta and Hugh Jackman performances were right on the money. Halle Berry was very sexy. This was a great film.

Summary: Pretty good
Review: I don't really like the action-for-the-sake-of-action flicks and I had also read all the reviews that completely trashed Swordfish, so I normally I wouldn't have seen Swordfish. However, after a friend of mine had convinced me to give it a shot I was pleasantly surprised - the movie is actually pretty good. Here is the plot: the best computer hacker (Hugh Jackman) in the world is manipulated, by using his daughter as a bait, into helping a wealthy terrorist (John Travolta)to steal 10 billion dollars from the federal government. Nonetheless, very soon the hacker starts realizing that the situation is not what it appears to be, and he desperately tries to get his daughter back without getting killed, and to make big bucks while at it. To make the things worse Travolta's character's plan to steal the money includes holding 25 hostages and he is very determined to get the money regardless of the casualties.

Obviously, this is not a 'deep and profound' film aspiring to convey important issues or lofty ideas - it's just a very good action film, very entertaining, and is definitely worth watching on the big screen because of the amazing special effects. The acting, if not great, is still very reasonable for an action film. Halle Berry's character adds some charm to the plot and together with Travolta and Jackman they make a great team. The bottom line - Swordfish is much better than the reviews that it got, and is definitely worth seeing.
