Summary: I liked this movie...
Review: This movie had bad reviews and I heard that after the opening it all goes down hill, but I liked this movie.
Swordfish isn't a traditional action movie. The plot is unique and you don't really know who the bad guys are. You also feel for Stanley (Hugh Jackman) who isn't a bad guy but is getting sucked into committing crimes to save his daughter. True, Halle Berry is naked, but not for long. Its no big deal.
While Swordfish isn't worthy of summer blockbuster status, it is still quite entertaining.

Summary: Really a pretty good movie
Review: This seems to be one of those movies that all critics pan and most audiences are pleasantly surprised by. I was not going to see it at first for the bad reviews, but everyone I talked to liked it. I do agree that Halle Barry's nude scene was unecessary, particularly because nothing blossoms between her and Jackman, although we just don't know: it certainly did help to instill empathy within the men of the audience during the scene in question. I enjoyed the special effects; the opening scene featuring the 360-degree ball bearing explosion was particularly breathtaking, and the air-lifted bus scene, while not heart-pounding edge-of-your-seat excitement, presented enough novelty and sheer wackiness to be highly enjoyable. The end is one of those calculated twists that has been unfortunately worn out in the aftermath of The Usual Suspects, but it does work.
Bottom line: I do indeed recommend this movie, despite its bad press, and I'm not denying that it's a guilty pleasure. If you look at this movie piece by piece, as critics tend to do, it doesn't seem like much, but upon viewing it emerges as more that the sum of its parts. It's really a pretty good movie.

Summary: WHOA! "Swordfish" is a ride!
Review: This movie falls into my category of "out there!" This being exactly why I liked it! Very twisted story line--and great flashback sequencing. Suspenseful and gripping, the opening scenes are nothing less than disturbing (a bit violent, but done as tastefully as I think they could have while portraying the lengths the terrorists would go to). My favorite scenes: the computer hacker's "interview"--who the heck thought of that?! Youch! He's given 60 seconds to hack into the Dept. of Defense database with a gun pointed to his head--amongst other distractions! I think it evoked a kind of "Oh Lordy!" reaction. Not to mention "whoa!" But it doesn't end there. Many twists and turns are left. Yet another favorite "whoa" scene was with the bus scene--man alive! The cops are chasing a bus--which is airlifted by a helicopter! Great ideas all over the place. New stuff = yay! Wonderful acting throughout (gotta love Jackman on this...and love to HATE Travolta). Great character development for the most part. I liked it tons. And DVD offers alternate ending (but it's not so great--makes you certain they chose the right one for release, anyhow).

Summary: Ouch.
Review: Putting a bad film on dvd, doesn't make it any better.
Just be greatful you aren't trapped in a darkened theater with it. If you wanna see Halle Berry and Hugh Jackman in various states of undress..and who doesn't? It's worth renting.
But it's a big mean loud vulgar and abruptly violent film. Hardy a redeeming value, when there is better ultra violence to be found just about anywhere else.
Go buy HARDBOILED it's loud and violent without the meaness.

Review: It was a kind of good movie but the characters don't fit. Hugh Jackman is not a computer nerd. It doesn't fit.

Review: Star power, but weak Hollywood plot. Cool opening scene, but that's it.

Summary: Lets really push the breaking point
Review: Hmmmm if you had limitless resources and had a job to do how far would you actually go? This movie asks that question and the morality of it. You will toss and turn from loving and hating the good guys and bad guys and most of the time you don't know which it is. John Travolta gives the movie his original character flair as he always does in one of his smoothest performances yet. Overal, I give this a top notch rating. If you like action thrillers this is a keeper.

Summary: A Cyber-Age Bank Heist.
Review: Swordfish is good movie, but you have to pay attention to enjoy it. As Travolta's character said in the movie, its all about misdirection, i.e. you only believe what you see and hear.

It's the classic story of a big bank heist only set in today's new cyber age where money is stolen with keyboard instead of guns. John Travolta plays the role of the witty and vile bad guy, however he's too charming not to like. In the movie, he recruits Hugh Jackman's character to help him in the heist from some secret government bank accounts.

Critics have based the movie but here's what makes it good. Its thrilling because of all it's twists and turns, you won't know how the movie turns out until the end. The ending is quite unexpected too. Your never really sure whos using who during the movie either, which is why you have to pay attention or else you'll miss a key part and end up saying "gee that was a dumb movie".

Once again, to steal a line, misdirection is the key to the movie. You may even question if Travolta's character was really the bad guy or patriotic American after watching Swordfish.
