Rating: Summary: NEAT Review: This movie is great. If you like Edward Norton, you will definetly want to see Fight Club. This movie keeps you interested the entire time, and throws you for a loop at the end. I would recommend that everyone see this film.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Movies of '99 Review: I went into "Fight Club" thinking it was going to be another ego fighting ego movie. I came out of Fight Club speechless. It was one of the best, well written, well acted movies of 1999. It was one of the best I'd ever seen. The direction was good, the angles were good. You name it, it was good. If you're going to watch any Brad Pitt or Ed Norton movie, make it this one.
Rating: Summary: Of Course I Haven't Actually Seen the "Video" yet... Review: but I did see the movie. Twice. And best of all, I read the novel first. If you didn't catch the underlying theme that society is overly-dependent on crass commercialization to find happiness, then please don't bother watching the video or DVD version of this film. Oh yes, there is the slight matter of anarchy born of dissatisfaction with our daily lives, but that is only one of the layers within the pure genius of the novel and the screenplay. The only disappointment for me was the Hollywoodization of the ending. The book offers a much more startling, yet quite possibly realistic, ending to the story. So if you haven't seen this film yet - get the book and read it - then wait, impatiently, for the video rental release, then hit yourself "as hard as you can," and wonder why you were lame enough to ignore the film when it was released to the theaters.
Rating: Summary: Hard to believe anything this violent is this cerebral. Review: Yep, you read right. I just called this movie cerebral. The deadpan comments on our society are spot-on, hilarious, and a bit unnerving. I won't necessarily use the word 'satire' but it's definitely high quality. As for those who hate excess violence, don't worry, despite the name that isn't what Fight Club is about. I don't know why people make references to Natural Born Killers, which was more pointlessly violent and had nowhere near the enriched plot that this movie has. Don't forget the twist at the end, which makes the Sixth Sense look ridiculous by comparison.
Rating: Summary: David Fincher needs an Oscar.Fight Club is great! Review: I have seen alot of movies this year, and this by far tops them all.David Fincher is a genius i loved seven and the game and alien 3.His movies just keep getting better.I dont know why this is not getting an oscar it sure deserves one.Anyone that says this is rubbish dont listen its great!
Rating: Summary: work of art Review: Art should provoke the observer to think and re-evaluate reality. Fight club provoked a lot of thought and made me look at our culture in a different way. Although the violence is characteristically un-hollywood and brutal, it's not the vehicle of the film. Some people may deny the film based on the violence, but that would be comparable to saying the Mona Lisa is ugly because it shows skin. The movie exposes our culture and addiction to catalog consumerism. Most everyone is guilty of it at one point in their life, so the movie is relevant and piercing. The disjointed narrative structure is a good translation of the book. The way in which the film flashes forward and back is effective in creating the experience of the narrator's psyche. I enjoyed the movie and find it refreshing.
Rating: Summary: The time of great movies Review: This movie was great. The ads for this made it look stupid, but when I went with a friend to the theatre to see it, I was impressed. The plot built up more and more and was extremely clever. The new cover on the DVD is quite bad, but I can ignore that now like the ads that introduced me to this movie.
Rating: Summary: Retarded Review: Naturally, there are the people that will hate the movie for its violent content. I tend not to discriminate when it comes to violent content in movies. For example, Saving Private Ryan used violence to send a sincere message. Unfortunately, I cannot right-mindedly suggest that Fight Club had the same purposes in mind. The violence seemed quite sensationalized and the movie seemed not to emphasize the negative aspect of the 'Fight Club'. One example of this sensationalization is when they are destroying the businesses of various people through mischief. The music says, "Laugh, this is funny!" but it is obviously not. Perhaps the director went astray from what the author of the book had in mind, because I saw little seriousness in the subject with which "Fight Club" supposedly grapples with.
Rating: Summary: Fight Club-A girls's point of veiw Review: this is a great movie, i loved it, i had to drag my boy freind to see it. There is soo much more to this movie than violence. there is a much deeper meening than guys who go and fight. ans who wants to see a movie about a guy who goes and works in soup kitchens, that would be soo boring. this has a spark to it, it is not the same old movie, this is somthing much greater. It is a breath of fresh air in teh movie industry. who wants to see a happy ending? all movie end happy this is a great change of pace.Edward Norton was faboulos i recomend this movie to absolutly anyone. This is the best move ever. It was definelty shrugged at the oscars.
Rating: Summary: MY FAVORITE FILM OF ALL TAME Review: I loved fight club so much I saw the film three times. It was the best!. If you like Brad Pitt and Edward Norton you will love this film. And also read the book I did and it was just as good as the MOVIE. BUY THIS FILM!
