Summary: Great movie but why do you have to turn it over?
Review: Goodfellas is one of the best mafia movies of all time. The directing is excellent and every actor was perfect for his/her role. The only thing that stopped me from givin me this 5 stars is that you have to turn the dvd over halfway through the movie. I heard that they are workin on a special edition. So if you already have it for VHS dont bother getting it for DVD. But if you dont have it for VHS (i didnt) and really badly get it!

Summary: Wonderful film, but the DVD...
Review: The one and only thing that kept this film from getting a 5 star review is the fact that the DVD is not up to par. You have to flip the thing over during the movie. Considering the fact that you can get the whole movie on 1 tape this is totally unacceptable. The film itself though is marvelous. I consider it one of if not THE best mafia movies ever made. Everyone needs to see this film at least one time in their life...if for no other reason than to be familiar with some of its often imitated lines. "Funny? Funny how?"

Summary: Brilliant
Review: This has got to be one of the best gangster films of all time. I don't think Robert DeNiro has made a better movie. Also Joe Pesci and Ray Liotta are brilliant. I don't know why Ray Liotta wasn't in a lot of other movies because I think that he is a genious. 3 decades of Henry's life are in this movie. First in the 50's when he worked at the cab stand. Then in the seventies when he was a run around work guy for the mob and then finally in the end where he is living on his own. This movie I give a 5 out of 5 rating because it has to be Hollywood's greatest movie ever. If you don't agree... I'm going to have to send Henry, Tommy and Jimmy down to talk to you

Summary: Brilliant Movie...Slipshod DVD
Review: Since I consider Martin Scorcese's "Goodfellas" the greatest gangster film ever made and one of the all time great motion pictures, it breaks my heart to give the DVD issue only one star (almost feel like Henry Hill ratting on his friends).

What could the "geniuses" at Warner Home Video been thinking?

The DVD is two sided, which means it has to be flipped in order to watch the 2nd half and there are NO special features to speak of except for a couple of trailers and a few production notes.

For a movie like "Goodefellas" (a film that boasts absoutely brilliant acting, writing, directing, cinematography, and soundtrack) to get such slipshod DVD treatment is inexcusable.

How about it Warners?

A "Special Edition" re-issue including commentary by Scorcese and/or Nick Pileggi; interviews with the stars, deleted scenes, and maybe the ENTIRE movie on ONE side.

If it's not in the stores by the end of the Summer, we may have to ask Tommy, Jimmy and Henry to pay you a visit!

Summary: The Best Mob Movie Ever Made - A Terrible DVD
Review: "GoodFellas" is the best mob movie ever made, better than "The Godfather". But the DVD is terrible. Ican't not give this movie 4 stars, but wait until they release the digitally remastered version (if they do)

Summary: Dirt - Poor DVD
Review: GOODFELLAS itself is worth five stars easily, but this is me complaining about the DVD again. What in God's name is this flipping stuff? The movie actually stops halfway through and you have to flip the thing over to continue watching it! Can it be possible that we've actually REGRESSED to where the VHS version is superior than the DVD? I mean, cripes. It's not like they couldn't have fit the entire movie onto one side. It's a 140 minute movie, whereas the SOPRANOS DVD easily fits four 50-minute episodes on one side. Something is seriously messed up.

And what's with the lack of extras? Two trailers is all we get? GOODFELLAS needs to be thrown back on the pile of DVDs that need to be released as a Criterion Edition, toot suite.

Summary: Camera works
Review: A fanastic tale of Mafia life is incredible. the camera shots are state of the art and a large part of improvisation makes the film very real

Summary: Classic Movie!! AWFUL DVD!!
Review: To keep the review short, I will say that the movie is one of my all-time favorites, BUT the DVD VERSION ...!! Here's why I hate the DVD: the movie is presented in halves on 2 disc sides-YOU HAVE TO FLIP THE DVD HALF WAY THROUGH THE MOVIE!! Also, where are the 'DVD extras' like interviews, bonus footage, and more that is common on other DVD's ?? Wait for a remastered & 'special' version of this DVD!! Don't waste your money!!

Summary: One of my top 5 favorite movies
Review: All of the characters (and I do mean all of them-there's a lot) do an excellent job in their rolls. I was especially impressed with Ray Liotta and Lorraine Bracco (who's one of my favorite actresses) as Henry and Karen Hill. Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Paul Sorvino are equally superb in the parts they play too. Even the lesser characters and people in the background give it their all. Truthfully, I didn't think this movie was all that violent. There's a few scences, but the main controversy is by far the language. It moves along so nicely that you don't even really notice how long it is. The music fits perfectly with each and every scene. From the beginning credits to the end credits the soundtrack is awesome.

Summary: before the sopranos
Review: . anyone who is a fan of great ciinema, must also be a fan of this film. this is a true masterpiece. there is no doubt in my mind that the wonderful characters from the sopranos were influence by this masterpiece. this is as good as the godfather, and is true epic filmaking, at its very best. this movie deserved best picture over the ... known as dances with wolves, and probably best pest picture of the 90s.
