Summary: Goodfellas with Great Roles
Review: Martine Scorcese is absolutely brilliant! Robert De Niro plays Jimmy Conway, a guy who will never be "made" because he is part jewish. Ray Liotta plays Henry Hill who will also never be made because he is half jewish as well. And Joe Pesci plays Tommy DeVito, a full Italian who will some day be the boss in Liotta's well-narrated part. This film focuses the most on Liotta and this is the movie that no joke "made" all three of these talented actors. This is also from the maker of"Casino", another great film by Scorcese. But, "Goodfellas" is the better of the two. Pesci roles in both films are very similar and he is funny and entertaining in both. "Goodfellas" is one of my favorites and I will recommened it to just about anyone who can understand it and like it as much as I did.

Summary: Good, but certainly not great.
Review: Although it's one of the most original mob films made to this date, I found it to be fairly slow. The first part is pretty interesting in how they set up the story, and how Ray Liota's character becomes involved in the mafia. After that, though, I think it became very slow and boring. I think I would recommend seeing this film once, but when I tried to watch it again, I lost interest after the first few scenes.

Review: This movie is my favorite. It's about a guy named Henry Hill (Ray Liotta) who has been trying to become a mobster ever since he was young. After he becomes a mobster for some time, he starts to lose his touch and he goes to jail. Overall I think this is a great movie.

Review: This is a great movie depicting the life of real life gangster Henry Hill from running errands as an early teen for mob kingpin Pauly, in 1955, to his drug dealings of the 70's, to his eventual entrance into the witness protection program in 1980. The film features great performances by Joe Pesci and Robert DeNero, reallistic mafia acts, and 2 beatdowns that rival sonny's beating of his brother-inlaw in 'The Godfather'. Get it.

Review: This is one of the all time great movies. It portays the life a mobster nammed Herny Hill, this is also a true story. Herny Hill wants to be a mobster since he was a kid and then becomes one. He slowly loses his touch get caughtm, has to rat on his friends. then go into the witness protection program and he misses his life as a mobster with all the action. Ray Liotta, Robert De Niro, and Joe Pesi gives excellent performences. Joe Pecsi won the acadamy award for best supporting actor in 1991 for his performance.

Summary: A cinematic landmark - Scorcese at the top of his game.
Review: The finest film on organised crime since the 1930's. Being based on Henry Hill's unique account of his own life (the best document of its kind), it has a very rare authenticity that is otherwise only found in films such as 'Public Enemy' ('Goodfellas' cinematic daddy) which had a conviction and force that could only come from portraying events happening right there, right now. Scorcese's upbringing in Little Italy gave him an affinity with the material that no other director could possibly have. These fine ingredients gelled to perfection. Virtuoso camera work, brilliant soundtrack underscoring the visuals, razor sharp editing, fine performances from Ray Liotta, Joe Pesci, Lorraine Bracco and (notably) Paul Sorvino. Do read the source book 'Wiseguy' as well.

Summary: Save your money for a better transfer.
Review: Warning. This DVD is a waste of money. For those of you that don't know, this is a single sided DVD. Which means half way through the film you must flip it over. This is the mark of an older DVD and you can be sure that once the Warner's supply runs low and they have all the fans money they will rerelease the DVD with a "Newly-Remasterd Transfer". So save your money for a better release. Besides the DVD doesn't look any better than the old laserdisc.

Review: This is an extraordinary movie. It takes an outstanding director to make something like this: the film is very long and at the same time it keeps you wishing it was even longer. The soundtrack is formidably, breathtakingly good, and the cast is exquisite. And no, it does not make you want to be a gangster; it does not glamorize murder and violence, either.

Review: I first saw this film in a movie theater and later saw it a couple of times on video. "Goodfellas" is not only one of Martin Scorsese's very best films but also one of the most realistic and convincing crime movies in film history. Based on a true story, "Goodfellas" chronicles the rise and fall of Irish-Italian American gangster Henry Hill(Ray Liotta). Hill goes from slick mob dandy to drug-addicted paranoid and eventually winds up in the Federal witness protection program. Martin Scorsese's "Goodfellas" is one of the greatest crime movies in film history. Scorsese's masterpiece is a successful blend of the satire and crime genres. The ultimate result is a realistic portrayal of organized crime in the United States. Scorsese's key players are perfect: Ray Liotta, Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci, Lorraine Bracco, and Paul Sorvino. Robert DeNiro is the last of the great screen actors and is both menacing and convincing as murderer-thief Jimmy Conway. Although DeNiro is a strong presence, most of the story's emphasis is placed on Ray Liotta's Henry Hill. The story is told through Liotta's eyes and he gives the best performance of his career. Joe Pesci is great as the almost psychotic Tommy DeVito. In a very tense moment with Liotta at a mobster get-together, Pesci utters a great and unforgettable line that is vaguely reminiscent of DeNiro's now-famous "You talking to me?" one from Scorsese's "Taxi Driver." Future superstar Samuel L. Jackson briefly appears as a robber. Scorsese and Nicholas Pileggi should also be praised for an outstanding screenplay. The film has a great dialogue that is both creative and realistic. Scorsese's "Goodfellas" also possesses a powerful sense of realism that is sorely lacking in even Francis Ford Coppola's "Godfather" masterpieces. Scorsese's characters talk and act like everyday people. I plan to see "Goodfellas" again. Well-recommended.
