Rating: Summary: The BEST. EVER. PERIOD! Review: This movie is not simply about fast planes and cool music; it also touches on the thrills and dangers of being a Navy fighter pilot and going up against the best in the world, and also on the hardships of losing a close friend, and falling in love. With the all-star cast led by the Man himself, Tom Cruise, this movie soars above the rest in every regard - sound, video, photography, acting...you name it. If you buy one DVD for your surround sound system, it absolutely MUST be Top Gun. Only negative about it is there's no trailer included on the DVD...come on Paramount...your top-selling movie of all time DESERVES a trailer on the DVD!!
Rating: Summary: This movie gives me the creeps Review: This movie is fun for teenagers who like to walk around with their shirts off and talk about girls they want to sleep with. Trust me, I was one when this movie first came out. It's also a stunning documentary of homosexuality in the Navy. The story's about a school of Navy fliers who compete to be "Top Gun!". Tom Cruise stars in his first blockbuster as "Maverick" a role he will recreate in "Days of Thunder" and even "Mission: Impossible".The action still holds up and Cruise is still cool if that counts for anything, even that guy from E.R. is still funny. But for me, where this movie sort of hits a wall is Kelly McGillis as Cruise's girlfriend. What were Bruckhiemer and Don Simpson thinking? Did they lose a bet to McGillis' agent or something? In some of the love scenes, I thought Maverick was making out with Iceman. They should of had Meg Ryan as Cruise's girlfriend, I mean she was in the movie anyway. McGillis is an okay actress but she has to rank up there with Margot Kidder and Andy Dick as one of the most unattractive leading ladies of all time. I'm still waiting for the sequel.
Rating: Summary: Nice story, good ambience and great musical score Review: The story is cute ... a young pilot (Tom Cruise) has a romance with his flight instructor (Kelly McGillis). Along the way we get an inside view of the Top Gun clique. Great cinematography! Shots of fighter planes taking off on airplane carriers in the South China Sea, excellent combat scenes supported by a breathtaking soundtrack. In one scene Cruise is racing his motorcycle against a fighter jet on the runway at the backdrop of a sunset. If you own a fast car or convertible you must have the soundtrack, and the movie is fun to watch over and over again and it's a full entertainment experience. In our opinion, Top Gun is one of the best movies made in the 80s and should have its place in every DVD collection.
Rating: Summary: The Best American Movie Review: Buy it for the dialogue. Buy it for the blonde chick. Or better yet, get somebody else to buy it for you. Who cares what film professors or Ebert says, this is the best movie of all time. More specifically, the best American movie ever made. And probably too specifically for you, my favorite movie. Have you ever seen a Russian subtitled film, and wondered as the jokes went over your head or seemed culturally irrelevant? One can imagine all other cultures saying this about the translations of Top Gun. It's just a democracy-lovin, flag-wavin, American type of movie. What's better than that?
Rating: Summary: " I feel the need. The need for Speed " Review: Well i've only recently seen this film. I know i'm a bit behind, but it did'nt really interest me when it first came out. The whole concept of this movie is excellent, pitching the best of the best, against the best. 'Top Gun' is losly based the romance between Tom Crusie and Kerry Mcgillis. it's also action, with some of the best The dog fight sequences i've seen. Everybody knows the well known quote" I feel the need. The need for Speed " Jerry Bruckheimer has been around for some time, and has Directed/Produced some of the best films in the last 10 years. Just add this one to your shopping list
Rating: Summary: Great Music, Shame About The Film Review: This should have been a great film after all it is directed by Tony Scott, produced by Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer and has one of the best scores of the eighties, or indeed any other decade, composed as it is by Harold Faltermeyer (Beverly Hills Cop I & II), not as some seem to think Giorgio Moroder. However not even the dramatic flight sequences and terrific score can save this film overrun as it is with romance and sentimentality, which slows down the pace of the film unnecessarily. Buy this DVD only for the improved sound quality. Pity it doesn't contain more special features, such as isolated score, let's hope future Paramount releases imporve on this.

Rating: Summary: Mayday, mayday! Review: This movie has "Danger Zone", the cool song to drive to. It also has several minutes of neat air combat sequences. Oh yeah....and then there's the rest of it. The romance between McGillis and Cruise is PATHETIC, and the other 95% of the movie consists of Tom Cruise crying his eyes out because his friend died. Whee. Download "Danger Zone" on Napster, put on some cool shades, and go careening around town in your Ford for 5 minutes. You'll have as much fun as you would've watching Top Gun, and without that annoying "Take my Breath Away" Song.
Rating: Summary: KICK ASS Review: This movie was my fav back in the glory day 80's. Now though it copes a lot of flak. I'll still back it, as I grew up watching this and wanting to be a pilot, in which I now am. On DVD in digital it sounds great, though little extra's was dissapointing. I hear there making a sequel.
Rating: Summary: Top of the gun movie Review: WOW, awsome movie. I only saw it a few weeks ago and was it ever good. I'm a Cruise fan and I think he and McGillis did an excellent job. The cast couldn't have been picked any better. The movie rates itself. The music was awsome the scenes in the plane were awsome and everybody did an all around great job. There is nothing else I can say about it just wow. It was as if McGillis and Cruise had a real life romance they put their heart in it so much.
