Rating: Summary: Tom Cruise sucks Review: Remember when Goose died? I crapped my pants for a week it was so funny. F
Rating: Summary: The Name Speaks for Itself........The Top of its Class!! Review: First of all, anyone who grew up during the 80's knows that this movie was not only well received, but made much money and was indeed a classic. It was unique and nothing up to that point had been produced that came close. Now that the 80's are gone, many people expect movies to be 100% accurate and to give them some sort of life-changing experience. Movies are fun!!! There supposed to be entertaining, not life-changing and realistic. If you haven't noticed, television isn't really concerned with getting it's audience in touch with reality or 101 course in Naval aviation...it's for entertainment. Having said that, lose all the unrealistic expectations, go find something else besides a movie to change your life, and sit back and enjoy this quality flick.
Rating: Summary: Forget the reviewers who say this movie is bad it's great! Review: Yes, this film deserves credit for the technical work on the flying scenes. I won't repeat all the reasons for not having much respect for the film (they're all here) but for those of you with sharp eyes: Watch over Cruise's left shoulder when he's flying. That brass wheel is a tool used to separate the main beam from the catapult when disassembling the ejection seat. (Strike 1!) Also - the "MiG-28" (AKA an American-built Northrop F-5 Tiger) has two guns, yes, but they're in the nose. (Strike 2!) Finally, anyone that reckless wouldn't be trusted with a government vehicle, never mind a fighter aircraft. (Strike 3!) So... its a fun movie in a comic-book sort of way, but don't take it seriously, it will only make one's head hurt.
Rating: Summary: these are navy planes. Review: its true.the navy has more planes than the air force.the story is a lot like days of thunder but instead of being a hotshot rookie racecar driver hes a hotshot navy pilot.nicole kidman the eversexy is his co.meg ryan even shows up.its the best movie about planes ive ever seen.theres a part where his friend gets killed and everybody gets all sad.the lovesong on this movie is youve lost that loving feeling.its not on the soundtrack.it had the all time rental record from its release into 96.it may still have it.nicole kidman and meg ryan are both in the movie and they are both awesome!the plane dog fights are unbelivable!this is a good movie.however, tom cruise has a few better ones like minority report, days of thunder and eyes wide shut.if they were going to make a part 2,theyd have done it by now.if youre into jets and stuff, this is the ultimate!
Rating: Summary: Laughable dreck Review: Quite possibly the most blatantly homoerotic film made that didn't involve Joel Schumacher, "Top Gun" is a constant comparison of genital size, interrupted by moments of bad dialogue and stilted acting. It lacks anything remotely resembling subtlety or intelligent scripting, opting instead for a lame, convoluted plot, obviously forced emotion, and love scenes completely devoid of any romance or eroticism. How any post-pubescent human being can enjoy this grand whizzing contest is beyond me.
Rating: Summary: A Classic Rebellious 80's Review: After all these years, my favorite 1980's Summer movie! For the time period, there were some great aerial shots and action sequences, and an excellent music soundtrack. A very cocky Tom Cruise and a very sexy Val Kilmer are in direct competition at the Top Gun facility, Miramar, San Diego, California. This training is for the top 1% of all naval aviators, the best of the best, who happen to get the fine ladies, in a lot of trouble and protect the country all at the same time. Cool.
The behind the scenes commentary by the cast on the NEW DVD is enlightening- a fan of the film will really enjoy it!
