Summary: One for the collectors
Review: This is one of the first DVD's I've ordered when I got my DVD system. It's always been one of my favorite movies, so I knew I would have to have it in my collection. The action sequences are great, and my mates like it too. The video quality on DVD is OK, and the roar of the fighter jets is absolutely awesome in Dolby Surround Sound. When you want to show your mates why you spent the extra bucks for a subwoofer, this movie rocks.

Summary: I'm Sorry, But This Movie Is Awesome
Review: Nope, it is definately not oscar material. Nobody will ever be lauded for their performance as an actor for this film. It is cliched and corny.WHO THE HELL CARES, THOUGH? This is one of the most fun and carefree movies of the last 15 years. Studly heros, sexy babes, ridiculous one-liner driven cliched diologue (I probably could recite the whole thing from beginnong to end, though!) What more could you want? Oh, OK, I guess we'll put in some awesome f-14 dogfights and some cheesy 80's rock music. Satisfied? Yes, now we have the perfect "watch it in your dorm some afternoon with all your buddies" film. All I can say is: When it first came out on video, me and my dad rented it almost every weekend untill we broke down and bought it like 3 months later. Buy a couple of 'em, just in case you break one!

Summary: I love Tom Cruise, but seriously, is this a 5 star movie?
Review: No, not really, but it is awful close. Movies like Top Gun don't hold my attention for very long usually, whether Tom Cruise is in it or not. This movie is definitly not "mach 2 with your hair on fire" but it has action, an antagonist who actually comes through (and shows that he is a pretty ok toward the end of the movie) I think there are some very endearing qualities to this movie that would make me want to watch it once or twice, but three times is pushing it. i think that this will have a timeless soundtrack, and that this movie will be viewed for generations to come. Whether or not it is a masterpiece, well, that is certainly debatable!

Review: It is rather ridiculous but it works well enough as entertainment. The movie doesn't add up to much, but it works okay as no-brainer entertainment (unlike Armageddon, which was just plain terrible.)

Review: This movie is about digital sound, the soundtrack and lots of aerial stuff. the story could have been better, but this movie is not really about story. lots of action keep it fast paced and a movie that can be watched more than once. unfortunatly this dvd release comes devoid of extras. however the digital sountrack is well worth a listen to. if you like top gun then you will definitly enjoy the dvd.

Review: i wanna give 1& half stars but that system isn't available.anyway this film is pretty brain-dead and catchy with all kinds of cliches.Tom Cruise: when i see him i see Money but no talent at all.he is able to sell anything and he did with this film.very 80's catchy soundtrack&some stunts with some locker room humor that worked well in 86 but hasn't aged that well.Kelly MCGillis is okay.

Summary: I demand re-release of this dvd.
Review: 4:3 ratio screen is very good transfer. However, wide-screen isn't really wide screen. it's a 4:3 screen chopped off from top and bottom. in other word, instead of having a whole theatrical picture, what you get is picture that's been chopped up both vertical and horizontally. what we are seeing is only 1/3 of what's filmed, which is even smaller than 4:3. somebody cheated big time from paramount. setup menu is false leading. I want to see entire wing span on F-14! It does make huge difference on impact in fighting scene. movie this good must be done right. and while at it, make it a anamorphic enhanced.

The action sequences are great, and my wife loves it, too. The video quality on DVD is stunning, and the roar of the fighter jets is absolutely awesome in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. When you want to show your friends why you spent the extra $$ for a subwoofer, this movie will show them what Dolby 5.1 is all about. There aren't any other special DVD features, and that's the only thing keeping this from being a full 5 star DVD.

Summary: Top Gun is Great!
Review: Top Gun was an extremely hilarious, action-packed, drama filled movie. I have it on DVD with Predator. The sound quality is excellent, you can hear the jets all around you. I enjoyed this movie very much. The cast was very good, the storyline was superior.If you have not seen this classic movie ( and tonnes of people have ) go and get it. People who enjoy a good laugh and like action, not to mention the great aircraft, will love this movie. This is a superior DVD. Most people will enjoy. Thanks!

Summary: This ovie ain't lost that lovin' feelin'
Review: Wow. This movie has the coolest aerial action sequences ever put on film. So good in fact, "Jag" stole a couple. Great acting by Cruise, Kilmer, Ironside, McGillis, Edwards, and Skerrit make this movie one you'll want to watch millions of times, and maybe once more for the hell of it.
