Summary: Not impressed.
Review: This past year at college, at least a dozen kids strongly suggested this movie to me. I was a bit skeptical, because these are the same people who go to Dave Matthews concerts. Good God was I right to be skeptical!

This is the sort of movie that geeks watch while wishing that they were as tough as the characters. The worst part is that it seems to be made with EXACTLY that audience in mind. I'm giving this movie a bad review not only because I found it cringe-inducingly unentertaining, and not only because when kids quote stuff from it I am filled with more hate than when I watch pride parades, but also because these types of movies age so badly. I know because I used to love The Crow. I thought Brandon Lee was SO bad[boy] killing thugs in dark alleys. Then I didn't watch it for a long time. When I watched it for the first time in a year or so, it was the worst thing I'd ever seen. It also happened to every other action flick I ever liked.

By the way, never quote this movie when anyone might be able to overhear you. Quoting of Office Space and the Big Lebowski is still OK.

Summary: This is a bad bad movie, but O' so good.
Review: There are so many strains on one's suspension of disbelief in this movie it is almost comical, no, wait, it IS comical. But if you are able to see past the bad story line and concentrate on the wonderful acting and direction you will enjoy watching it over and over.

Summary: spread the word
Review: This movie is just great. I had never heard of it until the night I ended up at a friend's house when he was watching it. Since then I've bought it for myself and recommended it to all of my friends.

One piece of advise though. Go into it expecting it to be funny. A few of my friends were offended by the "cuddling scene" and others, because they thought it was supposed to be a serious movie.

Summary: get this movie, now.
Review: The Boondock Saints has got to be one of the best movies i have EVER seen in my life. I had never heard about this movie, until my brother, who was at school in california, said "have you seen the boondock saints?" and told me i should check it out. We watched his copy when he got back to the east coast, and I LOVED IT. In fact, I loved it so much, I went out two days later and bought myself a copy. And, since then, I find myself saying to other people "have you seen the boondock saints?".

It is definitely one of those movies you would expect everyone to see, and if they haven't they should.

Summary: The Boondock Saints Is Pure Joy!
Review: The Boondock Saints (2000) is an awesome film. It was a straight to video film. I had never heard about it. Then this kid I knew kept talking about the "Boondocks". I was like, "What the heck is the Boondock Saints?" So he let me borrow it. I loved it and just picked up a copy two days ago.

The characters in the film are played brilliantly. Willem Dafoe is perfect as the Task Force FBI Agent, Paul Smecker. Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus are awesome as Connor and Murphy McManus. David Della Rocco is hilarious as Funnyman. Billy Connoly does a terrific job as the mysterious convict, Il Duce.

So you are probably thinking what this story is about, huh? Here comes the plot. Connor and Murphy McManus are drinking at their favorite pub. Three Russians come in and a fight breaks out. Connor and Murphy go home, and the two remaining Russians try to kill the both of them. The two brothers waste the Russians. In the papers, the crime is held as a self-defense, not an act of crime. After the attack, the brothers feel that they get a calling from God. They feel as though they are instructed to kill all the lowlifes and thugs in the world. It will be for the good of mankind. So they set out to kill all the evil people with the help from their crazy friend, Funnyman. Agent Paul Smecker is on the case. He's an inept and gay cop who listens to opera while solving the cases. He questions the killers' motives. Are these men doing for good or just to kill? Pretty soon, the Russians send in Il Duce, a dangerous convict. He is forced to find the brothers and kill them. Yet, he may have ties to the Boondock Saints.

What a great movie?! I loved how they showed the aftermath of the murders. Then the agent would go step by step of how it was done. I thought it was a really cool idea. It worked very well for the movie.

Parents must be warned though. This movie is extremely violent and contains strong pervasive language. There is also some sexual content in the story.

Overall, this film is pure wonderful. It does contain a lot of violence, blood, language, and some sexual content. Yet, it is a plain independent masterpiece. I think the director Troy Duffy deserves a lot of credit for this movie. Go out and buy this! It's only $9.99 at Best Buy. That's awesome!

Final Grade : A

Rated R for extremely strong violence, strong pervasive language, and some sexual content/brief nudity.

Summary: Unexpectedly fantastic
Review: I was in a local video store yesterday. Looking around, not finding much - I had a DVD in my hand, waiting at the checkout line. Dissapointed by not finding much to get, I began looking at the rack of cheap movies next to the register. I picked up The Boondock Saints, with its [$$$] price tag, and flipped it over to read the back of the case. I had heard of the movie before, and thought "what the heck. why not... its only [$$$]"... so I let impulse spending get the best of me and i bought this movie.

GOOD DECISION.

I watched The Boondock Saints the next day and fell in love with it. I loved every second (well, minus the "cuddling" scene - those of you who've seen it will know what I'm talking about. Eeeew). Its got action, its got drama, its got comedy... this is a good movie. When things are getting serious, the Irish lads break things up with a witty comment. Violence, swearing, and a little nudity make this rated R, for sure, but its nothing extreme.

This review is going no-where-fast... im terribly sorry. Just BUY THIS MOVIE. If you liked Run Lola Run, Reservoir Dogs, Leon - The Professional, or Pulp Fiction, you WILL like this movie.

5 out of 5 from me.

Summary: awsome
Review: This movie has got to be the most underrated movie of all time. I'd never heard of it 'till last year my friend made me watch it. I bought it a few months later when I came across it in a store and have watched it atleast twenty times and it's still really good. You should buy this movie.

Summary: An excellent Movie
Review: I may not be able to tell you how the choreography was done- but I liked the way they did it. I loved the movie, and it became my all time favorite half way through it.
William DaFoe was excellent (as usual), and the two beautiful young Irish lads acted very realistically.
A wonderful movie for anyone who enjoys movies that are a bit complex, and creatively put together...But where at the same time where you can understand what is going on......

Summary: perhaps Dafoe's greatest performance...
Review: There are powerful movies that you can watch maybe twice a year (Gladiator, The Patriot) and then there are powerful movies that you can watch bi-weekly, The Boondock Saints being the latter of the two. Be thankful for DVD, as any lowly VHS copy of this movie would have been worn out months ago. As it is, this is one of the coolest movies made, and as is typical in hollywood, also one of the most unheard of movies around. Slowly, I have found, this is changing, and word is officially out that BDS has the goods: Dafoe gives an absolute career-high performance as Smecker, a list of other lesser-known but well chosen actors (including none-other than Ron Jeremy) and a amazing surprise first role for David Del Rocco, who I hear has never even been formally trained. You will watch this movie initially and be blown away, and each subsequent time look forward to "that scene where..." which turns out to be EVERY scene! The style, cinematography, and music are all first rate and well-chosen. Duffy has made a masterpiece and I hope he will only follow in the footsteps of cutting edge directors like Tarantino and Richie.

Summary: Excellent, excellent, excellent!!!
Review: This was a pleasant surprise. I had never heard of it before when a coworker asked if I had seen it...

Dark, yet hilariously entertaining, the movie goes from wild shootouts one minute, to comical interactions between the characters the next. To top it all off, Willem Dafoe is waaaaay over the top in his role as a gay police detective and plays the part a little toooo well. ;-)

Not much I can say that hasn't already been said, but this one is definitely worth owning. And don't forget to watch the deleted scenes!!! They should have left those in...

If you don't mind a nice hearty mix of violence and humor, kind of like an even funnier "Pulp Fiction" in a way, then this movie is for you. And there is a sequel slated for release sometime in 2003!!!
