Summary: The best of the Scarlet Pimpernel Movies -Should be DVD
Review: We have worn out two VHS tapes watching this one over and over.
A GREAT film to watch with a lover that you sometimes go not understand, but love anyway. This should be on DVD, as you will wear out a tape. Ian McLellan (Now known as Gandalf) is great as the villan. All of the acting is superb and this captures the essence of the novels as no other film -- not even the 1934 Leslie Howard version -- has ever done.

Summary: The Best One....
Review: This is the best edition of the many Scarlet Pimpernel movies/television series. It captures the mood well and Andrews and Seymour are prefect in their rolls. A pity it is not on DVD as it is certainly a collectors item.

Summary: This cannot be improved upon!!!
Review: I had heard about this rendition of "The Scarlet Pimpernel" years ago, and wondered whether it lived up to the hype. Not that I was surprised, as I had seen most of the stars in other movies. However, I did not expect them to exceed expectation, as they ALL did. Anthony Andrews is the perfect, handsome, dashing, and annoying Sir Percy; Jane Seymour is beautiful and enchanting as Marguerite; and Ian McKellan portrays a formidable Chauvlain. I also enjoyed Malcolm Jamieson as Armand (I had never seen the actor before. Now I intend to search for any other movie he might have made.) The band of men who comprised the League of the Scarlet Pimpernel also added a great deal to the mix -- unquestioned loyalty, compassion, and diligence. I was, for some reason, particularly impressed with Christopher Villiers (Lord Anthony Dewhurst), and was delighted to find that he starred with Anthony Andrews once again in "Jewels," a Danielle Steele made-for-tv movie. By the time of "Jewels," Christopher had metamorphosed into a very handsome young romantic. But back to "The Scarlet Pimpernel." I rarely watch movies, as I am too busy writing myself. However, lately, as I work on my own novel, that music fills my heart, and I find myself, breaking away to watch a favorite scene, and wind up standing there rewinding again and again. At night I fall asleep mimicking the strings, and wake up with it in my ears. I am definitely getting the DVD version, once it comes out. "Sink me" -- I believe my VHS version will be worn from use -- by the end of next week, no less!!

Summary: The seek him here...
Review: I first saw this movie on VHS in college and I still can't get enough of the story. It's a wonderful rendition. I just can't wait for it to come out on DVD here in the US! I strongly recommend this movie for the romantic at heart, as well as anyone who loves Zorro and Batman, as some say this story gave those authors their idea of having a man with a secret identity. Enjoy!

Summary: A family Favorite! Have to go to great lengths....
Review: This is one excellent film! I can't imagine any movie being much better. My whole family loves it, and my brother is forever quoting Perc's inane lines. Unfortunately, it is unavailable in America. How much do we like it? We'll probably end up getting some region killer software just so we can have this DVD, which can only be found in England. Let me tell you, there is a definite reason that people are willing to pay 50$ for this video on ebay! Come on and RELEASE IT IN AMERICA ALREADY!! Do not deprive our country forever!

Summary: The Greatest Movie of All Time
Review: This movie is, without a doubt, unquestionably the greatest movie of all time. It has everything a truly fantastic movie needs: a gripping plot, a dashing hero, suspense, humor, and charm. I had barely even heard of this movie when I first viewed it, and thought that it would probably be terribly boring, despite the rave reviews I continued to hear from other people. I have never been more wrong in my life! This movie is so fantastic, and not only that, it is extremely difficult to find. I laughed, I cried, and I bit my nails in anticipation. Be prepared for an exilarating and unpredictable ride with this movie - it surprises you at every turn! If you are looking for the epitome of cinema, go out and get this movie today!!

Summary: This version is the very best
Review: I've read all the books and yes, as other reviewers have commented, the chronology is wrong in this TV movie version. But who cares? It captures the spirit of the books wonderfully, Anthony Andrews is the perfect Scarlet Pimpernel and Jane Seymour is beautiful as Marguerite.

I've worn out my VHS copy and I even bought the UK DVD, leaving it with friends so that I can watch it whenever I'm in England. When oh when is a US DVD going to be produced??

Summary: Please make a USA-compatible DVD
Review: After falling in love with this movie, my friends and I are anxiously awaiting a USA-compatible DVD. I've heard that it's available in Britain, but whoever comes out with a version over here is going to be a rich person. Please say it won't be long! :)
