Summary: Bad Boys, Bad Boys, What you gonna do What you gonna do
Review: "Bad Boys II" starring Martin Lawrence and Will Smith is an action packed thrill ride that should never end. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence bring so much energy to this movie that your eyes will be glued to the television through the entire movie. This action film is about two extreme cops who are trying to stop a top drug lord, however in their quest things become too personal. Martin Lawrence's sister who is played by Gabrielle Union is also working on this deadly case with a different division of police; however her brother does not know that she is undercover until he has to save her life in a serious setup. These two cops do anything and everything that think they are bad enough to do, from shooting up a KKK rally, to blowing up cars, these cops take being police officer to another level literally.
When I first heard that "Bad Boys II" was coming out I was not too excited to see it. I was kind of biased about this one because I saw the first one. I thought that this movie was going to be like every other sequel that I have seen; I thought it would be good but lame all in the same; however when someone showed me the DVD my whole opinion changed. I first want to say that this is not a movie for children, so just in case you have this movie or you are thinking about buying it make sure that you keep it from your children. Secondly I would like to say that this movie has all the things that you would expect from a good movie. It has a workable plot, great actors, and a good director. However this is one of the longest movies I have ever seen. It is not as bad as the movie Titanic, however it is pushing it. I remember watching this movie one weekend and it made the time go by so slow because the movie was so long.
When I was watching this movie I actually started to imagine that I was one of the characters in the movie. At one point I thought I was Martin Lawrence when he was going through his anger management. That was really funny, I could never imagine going through anger management. Something like that just doesn't seem real to me, but it is. I also wanted to be Gabrielle Union because she got be with Will Smith. Ladies, I honestly think Will Smith was hotter in this movie. He was hot in his recent movie "I Robot", but in "Bad Boys II" he was just radiant. I also like this movie because I kind of like the fact that the good guys always win and the bad guys always lose. It shows me that there are some writers and directors who still believe that there are some good cops in the world and to show people this they display them in movies. To me that is excellent. This is a much see picture, if you have not seen "Bad Boys II" you are really missing out on a treat. I recommend picking a night to stay in to watch this movie.

Summary: Bad Boys 2
Review: A film by Michael Bay

I'm almost embarrassed to say that I was entertained by this movie. I did not like the original "Bad Boys" movie, and I have seldom enjoyed much of the work of director Michael Bay. Yet, "Bad Boys II" is full of such mindless action that the movie is more entertaining than it has any right to be.

Marcus (Martin Lawrence) and Mike (Will Smith) are undercover Miami cops who are once again going after a drug Kingpin. This time it is Johnny Tapia (Jordi Molla), a drug lord who has never been convicted despite having been brought to trial many times. "Bad Boys II" brings a change to the relationship between Marcus and Mike. They had been friends since high school and partners on the police force, but there is tension. Marcus seems frazzled, burnt out, and he blames Mike. Mike has a powerful, flashy personality and Marcus feels that Mike is always getting him into some sort of trouble. He plans on transferring to another department away from Mike, but doesn't know how to tell him. Mike, for his part, has been secretly dating Marcus's younger sister Syd (Gabrielle Union). They want to tell Marcus, but worry about his reaction.

The bulk of the movie deals with the investigation of Johnny Tapia and the attempts to finally bring him down. In the process there is a ridiculous amount of action, explosions, gunplay, chase sequences, and violence. It is all very stylish, fluid, and mindlessly fun. "Bad Boys II" is not a very good movie. It is dumb with a very implausible plot which only gets more and more implausible by the end of the movie, but "Bad Boys II" is fun. For a movie as implausible as this one is, it is still an enjoyable ride right up until the last twenty minutes or so when Michael Bay proves that even this movie can go too far in stretching the bounds of credibility. Up until that point I was into the ride the movie took me on, after that point "Bad Boys II" lost me.

This is a visually impressive and stylish action movie with no substance. If that sounds good for one Saturday night out with the guys, "Bad Boys II" is a good choice. It has its place and will certainly find fans among fans of the genre. It is often a funny movie, besides the action, and that helps.

Summary: Great sequel
Review: After almost 10 years since the first one came out tMartin & will hit the streets of Miami again to bust a huge druglord again, this time it's ecstasy. I don't understand how all the reviews said this wasn't a good movie. I loved it. These 2 have great chemistry on scrren together and they are funny as s**t. I laughed hard as hell watching this and was on the edge of my seat the whole time. It is packed with action and jokes for the almost 2 and a half hours it runs. This time they are busting a huge ecstasy dealer and when he kidnaps Marcus' (Martin's) sister (who is also Mike's (Will Smith's) girlfriend) (and she was also working undercover for the DEA w/o them knowing at first) they have to go on an "off the books" mission to Cuba to rescue her and bring down the drug kingpin. I won't get into the story to much you'll have to watch it for yourself. This is a great movie and just as good as the first one and a must have action adventure.

Summary: Noisy and unrealistic action but the movie is still funny
Review: Bad Boys 2 is a macho and brainless action/comedy and although there's things I don't like about it, I can't say I hated it. It still has some good laughs to it even if the action is cartoonish and not very realistic. I mean the car chases seem like a tornadoe is going by throwing cars at Will Smith and Martin Lawence as they chase the bad guys. Plus one part where Will Smith and Martin Lawence bully a 15 yr old kid that is gonna date Lawence's daughter is just mean. They're proud of themselves afterwards and it's just pathetic. That's the only scene that was supposed to be funny that I didn't like. Will Smith proved with Ali that he can act so I don't know why he even did this movie honestly. He should be getting better offers than this. I just hope he doesn't accept a script to Wild Wild West 2 next.

Anyway the movie is still funny mostly because of Martin Lawence though. Will Smith is in good action star form although I wish the script would let him actually shut-up. Smith and Lawence argue so much that it feels like there's 2 Chris Tucker's from the Rush Hour movies. If you can get through all their arguing and all the noise from the action, you still might get a good laugh though. Oh plus you have to be prepared for Martin Lawence and Will Smith singing the Bad Boys song from Cops because they both have lousy voices.....lol.

Review: Bad Boyz II is better than the first one. More action, more guns, and more violence than Bad Boyz I. This is also the first movie that really shows how my Haitian posse gets down for theirs.

Summary: I'm still not sure what to make of this, but I will try.
Review: I need to assume the following in order to enjoy this movie appropriately:

1) Director Michael Bay had final cut. I cannot believe for a split second that any studio in the world would allow this movie to run 2 hours + in the THEATERS!!!! It was almost as if director Bay needed to top himself with a huge action scene after huge action scene, WITHIN THE SAME MOVIE! "Oh, I'm an hour 45 into this flick, what can I do next? OH YEAH, LET'S DRIVE A HUMMER THROUGH A SHANTY TOWN IN CUBA!"

And since he had final cut, he got to keep EVERYTHING.

2) Since the beginning of the movie features a "Don Simpson/Jerry Bruckheimer Production" and we all know that Don Simpson passed away many years ago, I need to believe that both Bruckheimer and Bay set out to make a movie that would have pleased Don in ways you can only imagine. Hence, his name still being attached as producer.

3) They had too much money, and too much time to spend it.

This movie is excessive on every single possible level - and it's borderline genius. I don't use that term loosely. This is, by far, the greatest exercise in excessive narcissism I have ever encountered.

I highly recommend this film - you will not believe your eyes or your ears. It's simply not to be missed. I was dumbfounded.

It may be the best-worst movie ever made.

I believe George Carlin coined the expression, "extremely not bad" and that's how I'd rate this flick.

Summary: Bad Movie
Review: I really like Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. But this movie was really not worth my time at home watching it. Sure it was about taking down a drug lord. But who gives a care about a stupid swimming pool bursting. And yet we are left to guess whether or not Marcus's daughter made it home safe and sound.

I mean sure it did have its moments where it kept me on the edge of my seat, but after a while it just kept dragging on and on. I am comtemplating returning this DVD back to the store where I bought it. I think watching it once is enough for me.

Summary: One of the worst sequels, ever. Read the amazon.com review.
Review: I was a Bad Boys fan. But after this, no longer. The original 1995 flick was no masterpiece, but it was a fun, enjoyable movie with great action scenes and an excellent rapport between the two lead stars. Where does Bad Boys II go horribly wrong you say? Well, Director Michael Bay has stuck to the original formula (lots of shootouts, crass jokes, lots of attitude etc). So what's the problem? Key word: OVERDONE.

Michael Bay's movies are focused on action with little emphasis on the plot. I understand that, but this is going too far. Now keep in mind, I WAS a Bad Boys fan, and I adore Will Smith. So it pains me to see him cast in such a horrible flick. Okay, so let's get to it. The violence; it's over the top, its crass and its not enjoyable. This isn't Lethal Weapon violence, where yes, its a bit over the top, but it's still enjoyable. This is violence which is meaningless & depraved. Ten minutes into the movie & you start to get bored. The shootouts really don't have much of a meaning, and the audience is just moved along from one scene to the next without any semblence of a plot. The director uses Matrix style slow motion and camera angles to depict bullet penetrations and the like, but at least in the Matrix it had a meaning, unlike in this movie.

The rapport, or LACK of it is another gripe I have with this movie. Remember Bad Boys? A lot of laughs were generated by the constant banter between Smith and Lawrence. Don't expect anything like that here. The jokes are just old, plain and NOT funny. In fact, I don't remember actually having laughed at any point in the movie. Oh, and on the topic of character development, there is none. Yes; zilch, nada, zero. This feels like some violent MTV video rather than a movie. Remember how in the first one we all laughed at Lawrence's family problems (his wife, his kids etc); well don't expect anything here. There's no focus on the characters. In fact, don't expect any laughs. Period. That goes with the humour of this movie as well, which is non-existent and crass. There's a scene in which Smith and Lawrence bully his (Lawrence) daughter's date who is 15 years old. They mercilessly tease him and intimidate him with a gun and threats. I don't know if it this was meant to be funny, but I found it rather stupid and cruel.

Another issue is with the length of the movie. It's 144 minutes (you're lucky if you can sit through 30mins of this), and at the end of it you're left feeling mentally delinquent with the never ending barrage of nonsensical violence. Oh, and I forgot, the language. These guys say the F-word so many times that at the end of the movie I don't think you'll feel like saying it for a while, a LONG while. Hell, even a 70yr old grandmother says it! There's also no tension whatsoever, so if you're looking for a surprise or a good ending, keep dreaming, because everything is so stupid and obvious. Really, I don't know how these guys even released this movie. I didn't bother to watch it at the cinemas because of all the negative reviews it got. After watching it on DVD, I'm glad I didnt waste my $10. If you are (soon to be 'were') a Bad Boys fan, you'll probably end up watching this like I did, just to see what all the negative hype is about.

To the topic of my review title, well, I suggest you read the Amazon.com review. The guy who's reviewed is obviously trying to restrain himself as much as possible from giving this movie a negative rating. I don't think I can see any positive aspect of this movie in his review. I'm just saying here what has needed to be said all along. I'm 20 years old and I love shoot-em-up movies, gangster movies, and violent flicks. But I also have a brain. If someone my age with my movie preferences found this bad, you can only imagine how someone else in a difference category would feel. Before you make any comments, ask yourself this. Did you actually enjoy this movie? I mean seriously? After watching this, I am one very disappointed Bad Boys fan (hoping to see a successful franchise). I can only hope that if there is a Bad Boys III (highly unlikely), Michael Bay doesn't direct it.

Summary: Bullets, Blood, and Cursing....typical....typical....typical
Review: I'm not a fan of these shoot-em-up movies starting former rappers. Bad Boys 2 is no exception.

It's a little "too typical" for me. The bad guys are brutally shot to death. The good guys get into wild cars chases which causes damage to public property. And as always, there's that one police captain who is always furious at his rouge cops but never fires them.

And of course Will Smith ends up with a good-looking girl on his arm by the end of the movie.

Summary: A bit much at times, but a solid actioner.
Review: It took eight years, but a sequel to BAD BOYS finally arrived as the imaginatively titled BAD BOYS II. With Will Smith and Martin Lawrence back on the screen, director Michael Bay behind the camera, and über-successful producer Jerry Bruckheimer calling the shots, explosive action is guaranteed. Viewers might be surprised, however, just how big and how explosive BAD BOYS II turned out to be.

Perhaps the filmmakers were concerned that it might be another eight years (or more) before any BAD BOYS III could ever be made. As a result, they put together a movie that feels like two films, with all the extra mayhem, car chases and gun fights that entails. BAD BOYS II runs for nearly two-and-a-half hours with barely a moment's pause. So much havoc might test endurance of the hardiest action-movie aficionado.

The first BAD BOYS movie dealt with heroin smuggling. BAD BOYS II takes on Cuban drug lord Johnny Tapia - played with relish by Jordi Mollà, familiar to audiences from the film BLOW - and his empire built on Ecstasy. Tapia is a slippery catch, having been arrested a dozen times without a conviction. This time returning heroes Mike Lowry (Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) are going to do whatever it takes, even breaking the law, to put Tapia away. This entails a lot of flying bullets, countless wrecked vehicles and, of course, a little humor.

BAD BOYS II isn't quite as focused as its predecessor, thanks to its sprawling, action-playground construction. The humor also doesn't seem as sharp, buried as it is under layers of violence. A throwaway subplot involving a DEA agent (Gabrielle Union) who also happens to be Marcus's sister and Mike's love interest doesn't really go anywhere, either. BAD BOYS II is about spectacle, and everything else takes second place.

This isn't necessarily a bad thing. Director Bay throws some incredible action the audience's way, including an extended freeway car chase involving copious gunfire and a truck hauling new cars. By the time that sequence has ended, viewers will have to mop the sweat off their brows. It's good, intense stuff. And there's plenty more where that came from.

Unfortunately, BAD BOYS II begins to become too much by the time the last cartridge case has fallen. Everything in the film is good - except for maybe the tiresome, mean-spirited bickering between the leads - but there end result is so overwhelming that one feels it would have been better to split the movie in two and release it in halves, just to allow the audience a breather. Director Michael Bay is on record as intensely disliking the first BAD BOYS. He had problems with the script, the low budget, and almost everything else. BAD BOYS II features Bay with full freedom to do what he likes, and his experience with such jam-packed blockbusters as THE ROCK and ARMAGEDDON shows up here. One gets the feeling that if Bay could have shoehorned in just one more car chase, and just a few more gunfights, he would have.

Despite its flaws, BAD BOYS II is not a bad movie. The leads remain likeable, the bad guys are hissable and the action is top-notch. No one expects CITIZEN KANE. Just fasten your seat belts, because BAD BOYS II is a very bumpy ride.
