Summary: An unsatisying blockbuster
Review: I can't stand this movie. Why? Let me count the ways. (1) First and foremost, Peter Parker's love for Mary Jane comes up WAY too many times. He tells us at the beginning that he loves her. Then he says it again. Then he shows it in his actions. Then Aunt May mentions it. Then Harry Osborn mentions it. Okay, okay. We GET it. One time would have been enough. (2) Why cover up Willem Dafoe's face? Once he has the mask on, it could be anyone under there. And he has a good face for the Green Goblin. (3) The special effects are bad half the time. Yes, that's a CGI Spiderman beating up bad guys in the alley. It's obvious. (4) Macy Gray? Why? (5) Mary Jane's protuberances in the rain are, let's say, out of place. But they ARE memorable.There are a few good things. It's not all bad. (1) The casting is good. Tobey Maguire is a perfect Peter Parker. Even Aunt May is well-cast. (2) Randy Macho-Man Savage makes a cameo. Right on! (3) The organic webshooters are a good idea, so is the sequence in which Peter Parker explores his new powers. (4) Finally, the plot sort of made sense, which is rare for superhero movies. This is a solid two-star movie. I didn't want my money back, but I never want to see it again. Hopefully the sequel will have better effects and less love story repetition.

Summary: It's a Bird! No a Plane! No It's...
Review: Honestly, I didn't expect to like this film. I'm from the original Spider-Man generation. My roommate in college was a comic geek, and I was inundated by the life and times of... Spidey wasn't my favorite (I was more a Dr. Strange type), but he was a regular visitor. As such, I have an entire set of preconceptions about what he would sound like and how he would act. So my first reaction when Tobey Maquire showed up on the screen was that this was going to be a very tiresome film. While I changed my mind about the film as it went on, I'm still not happy with Maguire's presentation. It feels overplayed to me, and stiffer than even Peter Parker's early shyness would justify. Its not so much bad acting as it is that this Spider-Man doesn't match up to the voice in my head when I was reading the comics. In contrast, most of the other characters are dead on. Especially the Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) and J. Jonah Jameson (J. K. Simmons - who was perfect). At some point, though, the quality of the film overwhelms any quibbles about an individual acting flaw, and the viewer simply forgets that this modern Spidey isn't a perfect reflection of the past. It captures the spirit, and some of the wow factor of becoming and being a superhero while maintaining a near-perfect, comic book atmosphere. Spidey has always been one of the most human and accessible of the pulp do-gooders. He has problems, makes mistakes, and learns as he goes along. The film emphasizes this in a way that gives Peter Parker and his alter ego a vivid reality the Batman or Superman never quite achieved in their own films. Maguire captures this struggle well, even if he isn't my perfect Spider-Man. This two DVD package has enough extra stuff to keep you busy for a day or two. Lots of history, outtakes, and interviews at an attractive price. I was very pleased with it, and I'm sure you will be too.

Review: This was a great movie in many ways. The hero and the villan were not too overly powerful (like superman or terminator 3). It had a good ending and a great plot. This movie is a perfect example of awsome movies because there was just enough action to keep your interest. Defenitlly a movie to buy.

Summary: Full Screen DVDs are useually sub-par
Review: And this one was no exception. When they say, "Full Screen", they mean it. You do not see half the picture and the camera somethimes does not pan over to the person talking, which makes enjoyment of the movie impossible. In the bonus features, They over did it with the behind the scenes features. The HBO documentery is good, but the E-Special is a waste of time. The Costume test footage works, as does the J.K. Simmons Screen Test, and the profile of Danny Elfman. They
also have a whole selection dedicated to the Spider-Man comic books itself but it's not likely to attract new readers to the books. On Disk One, they have a ton of trailers from other Colombia Pictures up-coming, and it looks like a cheap studio promotion adds. I like the movie, but the DVD bonus features are not that great or well put together.

Summary: Classic Super Hero tale.
Review: First off, this movie is fun, and all the negative criticism that follows does not diminish that fact. The idea to stay true to the original comic is both admirable and a mistake. It is admirable in that it pays homage to the creators of this splendid super hero; but it is a mistake because the ideas and plot-lines are obviously dated. During the film it becomes apparently clear what is going to happen in each subsequent scene. That may be fine and dandy for the ten-year and younger crowd, but as an adult I found it mildly irritating. Now for the coup-de-grace! Watch this movie, then pop in the Jack Nicholson version of "Batman." There are so many similarities between the two films it is obvious that director Sam Raimi did his homework in creating a blockbuster super-hero flick. From the design of the opening credits to the giant inflatable balloons he swipes and pastes many ideas from "Batman" onto this professional movie. It's just too bad that the adults were generally ignored in the crafting of this film. It is really well-made, but those who have passed the age of adolesence will or should find this very predictable.

Summary: A cool, cool, COOL movie!!
Review: Spiderman is my favorite movie and it's really *as you can tell from the title* cool! Okay, here goes the plot:
Peter Parker, (Tobey MacGuire) was an ordinary high school boy who got bullied by everyone all the time. He lived with his uncle and aunt because his parents were dead. However, everything changed for him when his school go to a museum about spiders for a field trip, he gets bitten by a spider that got loose. When he came back home, he feels dizzy and tired and anyway, he faint/sleeps. When he wakes up the next morning, he realizes that his eyesight is perfect, and he could see even without his glasses. He also finds out that he can climb walls because there's something on his fingers that makes him able to stick to the walls.
But meanwhile, Norman Osborn (Willem Dafoe) who is a scientist tries out a machine that makes a human extremely powerful. When he comes out of the machine, he becomes insane and kills his assistant.
Okay, back to Spiderman. He starts saving people and uses his ability, but he had lots of responsibility after his uncle was shot by a man. Finally at the end, he saves Mary Jane, a girl who lives next door to him (Kirsten Dunst) from the Green Goblin, who is actually Norman Osborn.
Well, it's up to you to see the movie whether Spiderman kills the Green Goblin or not! But anyway, this movie was really cool, and I loved it!

Review: This was a very visually engossing film, and on the whole, enjoyable. I would have preferred to have seen some more plot and character developement though as this would have really made this movie come 'alive'!

Summary: There'll be a hero to save us... BUT NOT HERE!!!!
Review: Spider-man, Spider-man, does whatever a spider can..... no doubt you've heard that (in)famous little ditty somewhere, which belongs from Peter Parker's infamous little campy 60's cartoon series. So at least some of you know who Spider-man is. Now, the show was based on a character who had his own comic series, and he first appeared in a final issue of a short-lived fantasy series called, "Amazing Fantasy." 40 years after that issue saw print, that same character has finally made his first ever appearance on the big screen(excluding cameos in other movies). And what can I say? It SUCKS. The acting is bad, the plot is messed up(okay, so Uncle Ben dies around June, since it's shortly before Peter's graduation, and then only an hour later, it's THANKSGIVING?! WHEN DID ALL THIS TIME PASS?!), there is no chemistry between any of the actors, the SFX are lame, and the score by Danny Elfman is forgettable(when did he fall from grace?) All in all, Spider-man is one of the worst movies ever made. Avoid it and this horrid DVD like the plague.
